One thing for sure, with any new Vita game releases from BB, you need to preorder ASAP. They are only carrying small quantities of the new games that come out, and usually once they sell out, they're gone from BB forever.

The Best Buys in my area stopped stocking new Vita games a good nine months ago. At this point their Vita "sections" are just one or two games that they're still trying to get rid of. (that were released before they stopped supporting the system) If I want a Vita game these days, I typically just order it off of Amazon. I can try hunting for them at GameStop, but their prices on those titles are typically higher than I would prefer, and never beat Amazon on discounts. The big box retailers are a complete wasteland when it comes to the Vita.

They still sell new releases online. That's what I'm talking about.

I actually just purchased the last Vita game at a local Best Buy today.  Lego Jurassic Park was on clearance for $14.99 - got it for $11.99 after GCU.

So that's it as far as ever getting info about the Aksys Exclusive Shiren the Wanderer "Eternal Wanderer Edition"... ? If it's a larger box that has everything nicely put together inside etc.

Nobody online ever got a copy to do an unboxing video to promote it at all prior to release .. ?

They just re-worked the video game section at my Best Buy today. Vita section is completely gone as are all the remaining Vita accessories that were in stock.

And in my own department. A customer asked me what the best way to secure his e-mails is. I told him to stash his computer in the back of a bakery and plead the 5th if anything ever went wrong.

Last night I started up A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks! and it turned out to be a fun little game with lots of quirky humor.

I also (for myself) discovered a nice bonus to upgrading Vita Memory Cards, until you download all the trophies from PSN, you are starting them over fresh on the system.  To me this was good because one of the obscure trophies for Asphalt bugged out and so I didn't get recognition for it.  So I was able to install the game, delete the install with the cart in the system (to format the game cart back to new), then remove and reinsert the game... and start back fresh.  There are some games I would never do that for, but I enjoy this series on a similar level to Burnout.  So I'm enjoying going back and playing it all again.  Now if it bugs out a second time, then I may just give up the trophy hunt on that one... but I would like to 100% the game if possible.

Anyone know if the vita version actually plays well. I actually enjoyed playing xbv 2 on 360 so I wouldn't mind picking up the new one as long as it's playable. Or is the ps4 version substantially better?
The core gameplay between the games are identical. The main difference is graphical quality. There were a number of features removed from DOAX2 like multiplayer, slot machines, custom soundtracks, and Jet Ski races.

The selling points aside from Marie "we swear she's 18" Rose and Honoka was the updated soft engine. On PS4 that means jiggly butts and boobs, but the Vita only got jiggly boobs. The PS4 version also got swimsuit slipping, which means during some minigames in the pool a strap will unhook and flap around. In the Vita version, all the swimsuit straps are textures so they never move around and the girls don't react by clipping through their skirt to hold up their bikini bottom.

DOAX3 also updated two weeks ago to add swimsuit catalog downloads, which means if you're not playing on an Asia account (like on the Vita with a single account per system) new content will no longer appear. There was also a cash only shop added with all the pre-order DLC for ~$40 USD a set. This is probably the real reason the game is on sale now.

Would have been nice if there were two versions for Vita. I would much rather get the jiggly butt edition than the jiggly boobs edition...guess I'll just have to get a PS4 now.

My store had done away with the Vita section in February. It's since been replaced by $20 and under PS4 titles and the only Vita item the store carries is the console now.

Thanks for all the info. I was actually planning on originally getting the vita version but I'm pretty sure you just sold me on the PS4 version. Shame that one's not on sale now too. Well now to just wait for that to go on sale. Thanks bud!

The PS4 version was on sale last week I believe, as I was wondering about the Vita version at the time. I was gonna grab the Vita version yesterday, but decided to wait.

Best Buy doesn't carry the Vita console anymore.
My store still has a few for sale. No discount though they are $199. :(

Does anyone have the item number for the 32gb vita card at Wal Mart? I've been lucking out on clearance lately, so who knows.
That'd be a mighty nice find. My local store has a few 4 GBs still for $2.50, I bought a few of them the other day, I'll never use them being such a worthless amount of storage space. If I happen to run across any 8 GB or higher though I will buy them out for sure.

Well I can definitely say NCSX is a great place still. Ordered a Lime Vita and turns out it was sold out so they are sending me the Persona Crazy Box for the same price (even though it's about 50 bucks more on the site). Pretty ecstatic about that.

Sweet, I'm glad to see NCSX is still good in the CS department.

I stumbled upon some pretty cheap copies of MLB 15 The Show and a cheap copy of Farming Simulator 16 today.  If anyone is interested in either, send me a PM for details.  Some things to bear in mind:

MLB 15 The Show is a download code so you will need room on your Vita for the whole game.
Farming Simulator 16 will have a shipping cost. - Pending

Ran across a Walmart that had 3 16gb vita memory cards. The employee scanned them for me and they were still $39.99....

This is pretty off topic, but I figured my Vita peeps would understand my pain more than anyone.

I have Shiren the Wanderer (complete) for Wii and two copies of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer on DS, but cart only. For several years now the Vintage Stock by my house has had a complete copy of the DS game, but I could never justify paying $15 for a third copy of the game just for the case and manual.

Yesterday I got a B1G1 coupon in my email. Since I also needed a new PS2 controller and it's the same price as Shiren, I saw this as the stars aligning. (Especially since a new Shiren game just came out today.) This was gonna be the perfect Shiren day.

So I swung by the store after work - and didn't see the DS games at all. I asked where they were, and an employee pointed into a glass shelf... where I saw a big ass box of cart-only DS games. I asked where the cases were, and the employee said they just got a new manager, who decided to save space by THROWING. THEM. ALL. AWAY.

That new manager must have previously worked at Gamestop.

What a waste. I know how you feel. Way back in the 90s, I "rescued" many boxed/complete (or just empty boxes, with or without manuals) NES games. Mostly from EB Games. Not long after I did that, they threw away all the NES boxes (probably nationwide). Tons of classic gaming boxes and manuals were lost in those days.

No, but I do have the UPC code: 711719220411

My head imploded reading that. I want to smack that manager up-side the head and ask him what he was thinking.

Unfortunately I destroyed many of my boxes back in the day too.. if only I could travel back in time. But I was just a dumb kid, the adults should've known better.

The worst part is that they have a surprisingly large collection of PSP games with cases - displayed face-out. In some twisted logic I can't even fathom, that took precedence over not crushing the hopes and dreams of any actual collector who visited the store.

It's easier to find Japanese boxed games, and one of the reasons is because they are pretty compact.
Well everything in Japan is small. 'Cept Gundam and Pochaco.

Maybe my parents raised me right... or maybe I was just held back so long with videogames that when I finally got my NES (the first console purchase that was mine alone and not for the family) I valued everything on it like a rare valuable comic book.  So every game was opened with a knife (creating a clear plastic flap at the top) so the majority of plastic stayed on the box.  Every manual was carefully looked at and then put back in the separate plastic bag that held the cart and cart sleeve ads and other stuff bundled with the game.  Every game was stored on a shelf.  I mean, I took great care of everything I bought and valued it far far above most things.  Ultimately that paid off big time when it came time to sell the majority of it.  But of course my whole collection wasn't new games.  I didn't dumpster dive (I never even knew stores threw stuff like that away!), but I did go to every single rental store within about 60 miles of my house and bought much of their stock that I didn't own as they converted away from renting NES games.  And nicely most of them were complete with boxes and booklets because they resealed the boxes for display and put the games in separate plastic clam shell boxes for renting.  That's where I eventually learned about goo gone and became a pro at removing stickers and permanent marker.

I don't understand stores that specialize in games and stuff throwing part of the content out.  It would be like comic book stores throwing covers to comics away and trying to sell the books anyway because all of the content is still there.

My local used movie/game store keeps everything.... Except Vita cases. Every single one gets tossed out. They still have freaking VHS on the shelf, but can't make room for a few Vita games?

Ugh! Yes, I feel your searing pain. And the DS games, of all systems. Those were some of the best, most sturdy cases in recent history. The most frustrating thing for me is that you couldn't be there when it happened. I once took a case for "The World Ends With You" up to the register at the local GameStop. But they didn't actually have the cart in stock. The clerk behind the counter apologized for not actually having the game, and then dropped the case in the waste bin. The case that was in near-pristine condition. I politely asked him if perhaps I could have the case, if they weren't intending to keep it anyway. He plucked it from the bin and handed it right over.

If you had only been there when the throwing-out was happening, you might have been able to get your hands on a fat pile of cases. Good condition cases are much more difficult to find and collect than bare cartridges. That manager needs to be flogged.

I understand your comparison, but sadly, GS only really cares about "new" or "used". There is no grade or concern along those lines. The value for a game with the box, is the same as a game without.

They are only concerned with how much they can stick on shelves, and what can be sold. They can barely keep track of the system they currently have in place, so while they should offer more money for games with cases, and then they could sale them for more, it's not worth their time.

Comics have a life long grading system in place, and a value based on that. While video games are more than collectible, they aren't really in the same league as comics, at least not yet. And even if you do find them equal, that's not GS business model. There are mom & pop game store who deal more with grades, and values along those lines, but GS just doesn't care.

You can get games graded. https://cgagrading.com/videogamegrader/

I have seen many games that were graded like this for sell on ebay through the years.

I know it's not GS's business model to appeal to game collectors... but given their business is videogames and a lot has moved to people just buying digital... you'd think eventually they will try to appeal to collectors. I mean, they did go back and re-add all the old systems to the gs website and started buying and selling old games. So maybe we aren't too far away from them actually caring about conditions and things.

You are getting a brand new copy in prefect condition graded. It has nothing to do with used.

Yes, I'm well aware VG have a grading system, but it's only done by one or two places. Comics have a grading system in place, and guidelines for grading that go from 0.5-10, and there is a guide for each level, that anyone can follow and get close to. Most guides in the market for games or based on complete or not. There really isn't a grading system as comics have.

There really isn't a scale in place that anyone, anywhere can follow. Your left dealing with the 1-2 places who offer the process, and who or what makes them an authority?

As for GS, they would need to have staff on hand that could grade games, and pay the proper amount, and sale them at different levels based on condition, and that is NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN AT GS. They pay their staff peanuts as is, and cut corners and save dollars at every turn, there is no way they are going to train staff to grade games, there just isn't any money in that for them.

Their business is based on volume, and that is why they throw out sleeves, cases and manuals without a second thought. If I remember correctly, years ago, they used to offer more for games that where complete, but somewhere along the line, that got dropped, as it was probably to much work, and to hard to track.

A place that is gutting games, and selling as "new", will have no interest in selling games to collectors, as most collectors I know aren't trading in, or buying at GS unless it's a last resort. Most collectors use forums, and avenues that other collectors use. If someone is looking to GS for fine collectibles, they might as well go to McDonald's for fine dinning, as both are just as likely to happen.
