I would kill for a PSP2.

>plays the vita cards AND UMDs

>plays PSP memory cards for both psp and vita memory

>Actual Sony support

>Improved hardware - better graphics and load times

>perhaps L2 and R2 buttons somehow

This would be my wish list
Throw in clicky thumbsticks for PS4 remote play and you've got a real winner!

With rumors that the NX can also be a handheld device, is it possible that was what the worker was referring to? Foxconn makes a lot of different stuff.

That's all I'd ask for.

It won't happen. Considering the PSP Go is as useful as a brick nowadays, that would be the worst case scenario.
Mine still works fine. Even after they took away store access, they still let you go on your purchase history and download stuff to it directly. You can also download to PS3 and then copy games to the PSP that way.

So, it's still very useful. And that's just talking about legit uses as a PSP.

Amazon shipped my Estival Versus in cardboard, and so the game box arrived in perfect condition. I feel like I've used up my luck for the year.

How generous of them to allow you to re-download games you already bought.

At least it wasn't completely nuked (yet) like Playstation Mobile.
Yeah, I think as long as PSN is up and running for systems, all the past systems will continue to at least have the option to download game purchases. Not just old purchases but new ones as well. Try doing that with your old original XBox! The fact I can still purchase PS Mini's and download them to my PSP... or any PSP regular game (even new releases like Retro City Rampage)... it seems like there's at least some dedication to making PSN a long standing service.

At the end of the day though, there's no overall safe purchase. Physical game cartridges, optical discs, ... they all have potential to break down and be non-functioning. Disc rot is not fantasy. Similar things happen with chips. Digital services go down. Even if you back everything up you are only 1 disaster away from losing it all. Then again, we are all going to stop being able to enjoy gaming eventually anyway so I say just enjoy what you can while you can. Play games that interest you.

PSM was a completely different system outside of PSN dedicated to phones certified for the service. The last major releases for it were back in 2013 with only 3 games after that. There were about a 150 mobile games total for it which is about how many come out each week for iOS and Andriod. It completely failed to gain any relevance in the market. Sort of like windows phone. Many of the PSM games were ported over to PSN.

Yeah, I was thinking about that just the other day (while playing Black Rock Shooter). If the Vita 2: Electric Boogaloo rumors end up being untrue, what will happen with digital content should Sony get out of the portable game business completely?

I would hope that they'd leave the content up and available to purchase/redownload, but we'll have to wait and see.

I think the Vita PSN Storefront won't last very long after they discontinue the hardware. The PSP sold over 80 million systems and its PSN store is already being phased out. The Vita, selling as bad as it has, won't be a priority for Sony to continue spending money on after its life is over.

Considering how PSN works, everything is tied to our purchase history and even when games are pulled from the store we can still download them. In addition, we can still download PSP games and that doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Heck PSP is long dead and we still get games occasionally published for it. So I don't think there's anything to worry about for a while.

And your answer just solidified everyone else's comments. (You just proved you were wrong)

And purchases tied to a PSN account were all removed from the PS Mobile store, so go ahead and prove everyone wrong and download them right now.... Oh wait...

Maybe I didn't stress this enough in my earlier post.  I was musing about what would happen when an entire category of systems went away, not just the system itself.

We can draw from last-gen compared to current-gen, but we don't have an example of last-gen to no-gen as far as digital content goes among the big 3.

The way I always looked at it, piracy catches up to the previous game technology so it really stops mattering.

You got me there. In actuality, I open all of my CEs. I just never take the shrink wrap off the soundtracks... :(
I don't have a single game/CE I haven't opened. Not sure why, but I've always opened and installed/updated games right when I get them, even if they are going straight in the backlog.

The CDs are pretty much the only reason I get the LEs. Of course that's now left me with a closet full of stuff that's one call away from the Comic Book Defense Fund.

I'm all about the art books myself. I don't think I've opened a single music CD once, unless I bought it alone, then I opened it to listen, but all my LE sets, the CD is still sealed.

I like CDs for the physical media attraction I have. If my cd drive worked I would probably open them and create my own encodes.

Depends on the game for the soundtrack. I open them if they're good. Bravely Default comes to mind. If it's very generic, I don't even care for it.

But even then, I just rip it at the highest MP3 quality and put it away.

Artbooks I have a lot of, cause I actually like them. I sometimes find scans of the books I buy so I don't have to look at the book itself.

Already posted this in the niche games thread, but might as well post it here too.

According to their Twitter, it looks like Aksys got shipments of the ZTD watches in. Said they're giving it to their retail partners who will update you about the status on them.

Clearly still a demand for PS Vita. Two weeks ago today I was in my local Wal*Mart and they had just stocked three PS Vita's in the game system case. Went back to the same store today and they were sold out!

I can't see why anyone would even buy a Vita at this point. I bought the PSP years ago and I recently bought a Vita and basically it feels like an upgraded PSP. In short it's basically 10+ old technology. I was playing EDF on it and it even looks no different than PSP game IMO. And then I popped in COD: BOD and the online kept disconnecting every single match, so it seems like the online is somehow even worse and unstable than the old system.

If you are playing EDF 2, you do know it was a ps2 game right? EDF 2 is a fun game but not a game to judge the vita graphical power.

There are a lot of good looking PSP games indeed... many way far ahead of what any other handheld had and comparable to consoles. I still marvel at OutRun2006 Coast To Coast and Burnout Legends. Go play some Loco Roco or GTA VCS. It's amazing.. esepcially when you think PSP games like GTA VCS were ported to PS2 (minus some features)... and games like Gravity Rush on Vita were ported over to the PS4. It just shows the gap between console and handheld isn't that big on the Sony side. As mentioned, EDF is essentially a PS2 port... which a lot of the PSP games were ports between the PS2 and PSP. I go back to Outrun2006. Or upgraded ports like GTA LCS & VCS. That gap between handhelds and consoles just isn't as big a deal.

So anywho, let's get to the hard facts. Region 1 has gotten twenty-on game releases so far this year, with another twenty-one still alleged coming before year's end.

21 more games this year? That's crazy. I seem to already have quite a few of these preordered as well. It's going to be an expensive few months.

In the past, if NISA sales out before the release, they often put up held back qty's about 10-14 days later. I used to know the exact time frame, but it's been awhile since they have sold out, and I always buy early now, so I haven't really watch their restocking habits in awhile.

Criminal Girls 2 has actually been a little weird since they put it up, as it's had stock come and go, so it's neither really popular, or they are pulling and relisting to create an artificial demand. This game actually sold faster than most, so keep an eye out and try to grab a copy if and when they come back.

I think due to the M rating, and the other censor ship issues surrounding this game is why NISA is the only one offering it, but that may change at some point.

I'll have to keep an eye on Criminal Girls 2. I couldn't make a pre-order since I was just putting in some changes of address and was going to do it in about a week. Hopefully pre-orders open up again or on release they bring the regular copies back. I am trying to platinum the original game right now. Likely about 5-6 hours away from doing that....

Thanks for the input, all! I'm surprised there are no preorders anywhere else. I just want the standard edition, but I guess I'll have to monitor the page now.

Yeah I know it's not a deal persay, but since Criminal Girls 2 is exclusive to the NISA store, if it comes back in stock, please post here. That would be helpful.
