FIFA 17 Demo is available. Just put a solid hour + into it. Outstanding and a real upgrade from the typical year to year updates. Frostbite was an excellent choice to use with it. Gameplay tweaks are pretty abundant, notably crosses/corners are a lot more intuitive and there is some really good shot variety, on top of that defenders are a LOT more physical. Negatively some of the shots still seem a bit ropey, but the AI is a lot sharper at least. Getting in behind someone isnt an automatic SOG which always seemed to be one of FIFA's downsides.

They also give you a taste of the story mode "The Journey", which I really liked. It wasnt enough to judge it fully by any stretch, but having Mourinho grimace at me was funny as shit (because fuck Mourinho and fuck Man U). One of the best presentations in a sports game I can recall, even things like the post game interview and stuff were a lot of fun. Maybe its the "better" version of that shit they tried in NBA last year.

Definitely going to grab it in Mexico as I usually do. Or not, seems Origin has caught on and raised Mexican prices. Not checked myself but that seems to be what people are saying.

... wait, FIFA 17 was actually released on PC?
Demo is out on all platforms today.

And to add to my prior post, I think the visit to Mexico trick with VPN is finally dead. EA raised the Mexican price to match the US price, at least on FIFA. Dunno about other games.

I read a review that says PES is the best soccer game this year.
Eh, it doesnt matter with PC.

Konami have half-assed PES the last 3 years (including this years) on PC giving last gen versions and a glut of missing features. Last year's game was completely broken on launch. Gameplay wise its typically the stronger game (at least 15 and 16), but fuck Konami shorting PC players and the difference is not nearly what it was like in the mid 2000s where PES truly destroyed FIFA. Now its a much closer discussion, since about FIFA 09. FIFA was the better game for 4-5 years in every respect until PES made a "comeback" w/ PES 15, but not on PC.

I'll stick with EA's much stronger presentation and actually giving a shit about the PC version + everything is licensed so no dealing with fake names and clubs, although the PES community makes it easy to update, but still.

On PC, theres really only one choice until Konami put the effort into the platform.

New heroes start at 15k then drop to 10k after a couple of weeks.  Then get lowered to various lower tiers over the course of months/years depending on a few factors.

Also re: Metzen retiring from Blizz.  This is one of those surprising/not surprising things.  I doubt he's worked much at all the last several years as most of the writing was handed off to lower-tier employees as the company got bigger and bigger.  Other than general concepts for story arcs I think the last thing he did was sketch and do some background lore for the Overwatch heroes.  Wasn't sure if he had a lot of stock in the company being one of the original employees but this pretty much confirms it.  I'm sure he made tens of millions off of the merger with Activision.  Seems like he got tired of thinking of stuff to write which is understandable considering he sort of painted himself into the corner ramping up bigger and bigger threats, specifically with regards to Warcraft.  Now he doesn't have to worry about thinking of a way out.

good lord how could that ever be worth it, you would still have to go at least once a week to olive garden for 7 weeks straight. If you like pasta that much then just make it at home for 1/4 the price and 1/10 the salt
Ooohhhhh, 7 straight weeks of explosive diarrhea. Think I'll have to pass. If I wanted involuntary rectal discharges, I'd just eat kitty truffles. They're free and plentiful, like {insert your name here}'s mom.

I bought a GTX 1070 today to play ARK with everyone

Found out that I cannot use it without a 8 pin cable.

Fitting that GTX 1070 into an Alienware x51 case was nearly impossible which made me remove the front stock fan.
Then I had to remove the entire thing 2 times after I found out I was missing the 8 pins.

At least I got $115 in game content! Which is Paragon, I most likely won't ever use the code.

pls like and subscribe to my blog post that i written from my phone since i have no graphic card right now

Sure, here is the source.

I should have TinyURL'd that or something, but I'm lazy.
Not sure about your link today but that was the same lacking of any news about it I found yesterday...

Seems like its making the rounds today:

http://steamed.kotaku.com/valve-makes-big-changes-to-steam-reviews-angers-develo-1786586128

The article makes some good points on both sides... Sort of surprised consider its a kotaku article.

I certainly think the data needs to be separated so the consumer can see the trend but the article mentions Valve saw 120 noticeable jumps in review scores... Which sounds like a allot but really isn't when compared to the number of games on steam. Seems excessive and like the article pointed out... Maybe, just maybe, Steam is trying to cut down on people buying the game from other sources.

So... I hear ya got a GTX 1070 for sale. ;)

(You might be able to swap out your power supply... but before you buy a new one double check to see if its of any sort of proprietary design. odd shape, odd connectors on your motherboard, etc.)

Edit: Nerver mind I just google searched a picture of that case... Nope, not going to happen.

So... Yeah, I hear ya got a GTX 1070 for sale... ;)

I'm glad that The Crew is the next free game because I've been playing it recently and it'd be nice to have others to play with. uPlay id is "z3nii".

Couple of tips. I think at the beginning of the game there are very few cars to choose from, but once you progress the story a bit (a la every Ubisoft game ever) it opens up the different types of cars. I believe every 10 levels you unlock a new "spec" of car - you start out with street, then unlock dirt, then performance, and so on. Technically you can access the whole map at the start of the game, because you can travel to different parts of the country via plane or train for some in game currency. But you'd really only be able to drive one car until you progress the story some more. Plus I think at level 10 or something, you get hit with a shitload of cash, so you'll be able to buy a couple of cars then.

If there's interest I'll probably ramble on more about the game but that's probably good to start.

You can probably get an adapter for the 8 pin plug. They make 6 pin to 8 pin, 2x molex to 8 pin, and 2x sata to 8 pin. The PSU in your alienware probably has enough wattage to run the card.

Well I can get a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter from what I was reading.
I got the image from google, so the case can almost not fit the gtx 1070 in the Alienware X51 r3.

After removing the fan, I literally have no room to add anything else.
I'll be sticking with the X51 till the holiday and then finding a better motherboard, power supply+ case.

I'm planning go to Microcenter in the morning, I was reading few post on Alienware talking about buying a small fan which I will look into a later date.

Awesome. Felt like I missed every good deal/glitch on this and now my patience has been rewarded.

Huh. Promo video for it says "...with all the content we've been adding the past two years" but Ubisoft rep on Facebook says no Wild Run Expansion :whistle2:k
It's a poorly worded video. They regularly add free cars to unlock, races, or events and that's what they likely mean. I don't anticipate the season pass or wild run expansion content to be included.

Watch the airflow on that thing... With that compact size that fan is likely very important.

As for long term use... You might not need to replace the motherboard and I wouldn't if you don't need to.

Anyone interested in some closed alpha action?

I can invite 3 others...  (Need to have uplay, we need to be friends.)

September 15th through September 18th.

Likely not going to be first come first served...

I signed up the other day hoping to get in, but if I don't I'd appreciate consideration. No email for me yet, but they could be coming out in waves.

I was reading that the R3 model has a proprietary motherboard.

So I'm force to get a new motherboard if I were ever to move it to an another case.

Which I will for better air flow, I think the GTX 1070 will be fine in the R3 for few months till then.

I'm not sure if I will go with the mITX case route or something bigger.

The R3 size is great for traveling for parties and tournament setups.

The fan will cost me $10 at microcenter, I don't do overclocking or anything so i'm assuming I will be fine.

I've only seen my gtx 960 heat up very few times.

I don't think I would worry about it. If you can convince the 1070 to fit with a single rear case fan it should be fine. The 1070 isn't a particularly hot card to begin with. In hindsight buying a Mini 1070 might have been a better route but I don't think I would replace my case/psu/motherboard just because I was worried the ventilation might not be optimal. Could you throw a thin 92mm fan on the side of the case if you cut a hole in it? Hole saw + fan + grille for fan wouldn't be very expensive.

Same as Pedrito. If I don't get accepted I would like to get an invite.

The bros had a pretty laid back night. We played 2 shallow games and then a long Rocket League session.

Fighties - This wasn't "bad", but very shallow. It reminded me of Lethal League in some ways. I'll never play it again most likely.

Blade Ballet - Nice looking game and similarly had a "Lethal League" feel (not in gameplay, just match composition). I didn't really care for this. 3 modes and none of them were very gripping. I'll never play it again most likely.

I signed up sometime ago... Frankly, I'm a bit shocked I was chosen truth be told... I'm not necessarily that lucky and while I've always been polite and honest I've not always been glowing on their official forums for The Division.

(Granted, maybe filling out their opinion surveys for the Division and writing beta feedback helped.)

I'm not sure I'll spend more than one play session on The Crew, but feel free to join my crew if you happen to see me out there. I think my Uplay ID is TotesBreakfast, but who knows. Maybe try asking Motoki, since somehow he found me on there already.

The Crew gives Homefront: The Revolution a run for the holy shit this sucks at first money. The cars handle extra wonk at the beginning but get better as the game progresses.

If you import your steam friends list into uplay then you can stalk them there too.
