I know that was being discussed but was unsure of a clear answer I have both fallout 3 and olbivion GOTY on disk, do I install both disks than use disk 1 to play? fallout 3 wasnt recognizing the dlc

You have to use disc 2 to play DLCs on Fallout 3/NV, so I guess it's the same with Oblivion

Yeah I got that Collector's Edition as well. It was a gift for Christmas so I have no idea what my folks paid for it lol. They got it from a guy from Canada on eBay. Shit, I wonder if that's lying around somewhere.

Just a heads up for those of you getting FFXV today from GS preorders... I just sold my "A King's Tale" code (the 45 minute beat em up game) for $40 on eBay. I actually wanted it but for that much I couldn't justify holding on to it.

If you install the DLC from game of the year editions and complete editions of Xbox 360 games to Xbox One, can the DLC be used with a digital copy of the game on Xbox One?

I think the first Bethesda game that 'clicks' for you is magical. I just couldn't maintain interest during Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, but I loved every moment of Oblivion. Skyrim is considerably more polished - so that might help you - but the formula is basically the same.

I thought Fallout 3 was...fine. Kind of oppressively bleak - and very brown (everything burnt). I didn't enjoy it as much as The Elder Scrolls games. I'm currently giving it another go using the Tale of Two Wastelands mod on PC - which combines Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas into one game. Kind of interesting revisiting a game after 8 years and seeing what I remember, what I didn't give enough credit to in the first place, what mechanic is dated, etc.

 
I really tried to get into Oblivion. But I started it AFTER playing Skyrim, and it just felt weird to me. Maybe someday I'll give it another try.

I agree with what Bizzquik said about Fallout as well. Though I guess it makes sense, a post apocalyptic wasteland isn't supposed to be all bright and colorful or anything, but damn.

So glad i picked up Oblivion when it was listed as bc by mistake during the sale. Whoever messed up and listed it at Microsoft's site saved me some $$. Now they just need to give everyone who got the t-shirt deal lost odyssey for free when they figure out how to sell multi disk games. All will be forgiven lol

I have fond memories of playing it on the PC back in 2006-2007. I continue to be impressed with how BC is making the X1 such a great do-it-all system, which is something we typically only get on PCs. Interestingly, that was kind of the idea behind calling it Xbox One, wasn't it? Being the central device in the living room with all that TV and DVR crap, and now it's sort of living up to that name in a very different way.

I think the main issue here is making multidisc 360 games available for sale on X1, but not on 360, which would cause plenty of confusion. Especially since 360 games are kinda shoe-horned into the X1 storefront to begin with, and the online stores are set up very differently (Xbox.com vs being part of the digital Microsoft store).

Guess everyone has different preferences but I actually enjoyed the storyline with the gates. Skyrim's world was much better and more fleshed out, but I still have a fondness for the main quest in Oblivion over Skyrim.

I did as well but it was a little repetitive and with, back then anyways, the enemies always scaling with you it was a challenge. You'd be going along and doing well and then either you make a mistake or you get ambushed by an enemy that just wipes the floor with you. That said I never finished the main story line lol - I always had a blast just messing around going about random dungeons, quests and what not. Skyrim has a varied environment but it's up North so there's a lot of snowy mountains so Oblivion's lush green grasses and forests will be refreshing.

It was so nice that RDR price right when it when bc. They don't seem to be doing that at all anymore. Skate 3 was 4.99 a trillion times then when it goes bc the sale is 9.99 The one good thing i do say about Bethesda is they do tend to give good sales on the 360 games and dlcs compared to other publishers.

Microsoft is doing great things with the system. I was never a fan of Microsoft until i got my XB1 the developers work so hard it seems on adding in new features and major nelson is a really cool guy i love following on twitter along with Phil.

This is so true. I tried Oblivion back when I first got my 360 and just couldn't get in to it. A while later I tried Fallout 3 and absolutely loved it. I obsessed over it. I went back to Oblivion a few months before Skyrim came out and that time it clicked. I loved skyrim, new vegas and fallout 4 as well.

But nothing will beat that first Fallout 3 experience. (Except for my first dark souls experience).

Microsoft is doing great things with the system. I was never a fan of Microsoft until i got my XB1 the developers work so hard it seems on adding in new features and major nelson is a really cool guy i love following on twitter along with Phil.

Same. I had dabbled in the platform in the past but always had Xbox on the periphery. I modded an OG Xbox and mostly used it as a media center, but definitely enjoyed some exclusives way back when. Didn't get a 360 until 2013 so I could dabble in some exclusives I'd missed and delay upgrading to the current gen.

I had A LOT of digital titles on PS3 and got really fed up with the increasingly poor UI, you can't alphabetize games, and if you make folders for them (which I did), those folders don't display in non-primary accounts - all the titles are just in a long, disorganized list. WTF? This became an issue for reasons not worth explaining and I found myself building my digital 360 library on fire sales more and more. Then BC happened and here I am.

Congrats to Phil Spencer, he converted me, something most men can't claim ^_^

RE: Oblivion vs Skyrim... you guys do realize that Oblivion being BC probably increases its chances of Games With Gold now, since MS has said 360 GWG titles have to be BC?

The new release of Skyrim probably guarantees it's never being involved in GWG.  For me, it validates not buying Oblivion.

What does that say about all the other games that go BC? The three other games that were announced alongside Oblivion?

I had issues with Oblivion.  Disc read errors aplenty.  But I'd definitely be willing to try it again now that it's backwards compatible.

Now they need to make Shadowrun backwards compatible too.

sorry it didnt let you use paypal but glad it let you get it with your card. The bad thing about the site is they really don't get much of anything new in very often.

 
Haven't played a Final Fantasy game since 7, but everyone talking about xv has me curious.  What games would you compare this to?  I know that it will suck a bunch of time to complete, so would it be worth it to check out a summary of the universe up to this point before I start?

A summary of what universe? Final Fantasy games are standalone.

The Alan Wake add-ons seem to still be free as well. You should get those as well.

What Frisky said ^^ But also, I've read quite a few impressions/reviews that have said FFXV is as good an entry point as any into the series and doesn't require a love of the series to appreciate (other entries may benefit from some fandom, like FF8 or FF3, both of which I'm quite fond of). Certainly there are elements (music, themes, items, summons, etc) that loosely tie the series together, but not in any cohesive way that matters.

If you enjoyed FF7 at all, I say go for it.

EDIT: and it jumped to $20 at GS, cracks me up how these games skyrocket when brought back to BC.

It's an easy mistake to make when they number them chronologically but the numbered games aren't sequels, have cross-over spinoffs like Dissidia, and then randomly make direct sequels to games which were supposed to be self-contained (FFX-2, FXIII 2 and 3, the 'compilation of FF7' games way after the fact cashing in on FF7's popularity...). I'm annoyed with myself for even keeping up and being able to name them all.

It was $15 at noon today, so just the normal $5 bump.

I'm predicting MW3 will go BC on Thursday.
