I generally don't like stealth games, but I had an absolute blast playing through the first Dishonored recently. Definitely looking forward to the trial.

 
Finished Halo 3, started Halo 4. The first level of 4 is more entertaining than any one of the previous games, something about it just feels good. Graphics got a nice overhaul, too, for a 360 game it looks closer to some current gen stuff even if the textures are showing their age.

I want to see the 1080 capability, and see it integrated better than PS4 Pro, which has been all over the map. Some games get so many improvements to graphics and/or a higher framerate that I would consider it worth it. According to rumours, it would be capable of super sampling, which means the game would render at a resolution higher than 1080p and then downscale to 1080p. So you'd lose the resolution boost, but still get some improvements to things like shadows.

 
Can't wait for Scorpio to just be shown already all the speculation is just exhausting now. Hope it's good.

Agreed. Halo 4 is great and still looks stunning. One of my favorite campaigns. Shame my MCC disc is ruined, need another.

If the disc is recognized, just put it in and search for the MCC on the Store and it'll download the game from XBL instead of using the disc

 
Hexic has always been free. It was included on HDDs for a long time on 360, then made available digitally for free once they stopped pre-installing it.

Super sampling is nice, but I want to see more games that actually get bonus graphics effects like Rise of the Tomb Raider or Paragon on PS4. Though I guess this would only from non-lazy publishers, and more likely for games with a PC version.

Gamergirl - You don't have to find common ground. Just try to accept him for who he is. I lost my father last Dec, almost 4 years after having a stroke. It was good thing as his health deteriorated over those four years. I look back and think I should have been more patient but with having my own problems it was difficult. I was glad I spent Thanksgiving with him though.

Saw ghost in the shell last night. I didn't have high hopes and it's been a while since I've seen the original. I started watching stand alone complex so I had a couple episodes to compare it to. I was pleasantly surprised for what it was. I think I'm still on the fence for the "scarlett Johansson shouldn't have been cast" debate. I saw it at the 4k imax and it looked great. I think I liked it more than Life which I saw last week.

I'd probably go with XB1X as an abbreviation. Not a huge fan of the name if it's true, doesn't really say "this is a better version of the XB1" like "PS4 pro" does.

I didn't notice anything, I haven't watched passed the fourth season so I don't really pay attention for spoilers. If there were any they were probably in spoilers.

Someone mentioned the part in the season finale where Rick and the Saviors found the alien base that produced the zombie virus, but other than that, no real spoilers to speak of.

 
Didn't you say something about appreciating Bungee so much after Destiny, and now you're praising Halo 4 as better than that previous three? Me is confused.
 
Well, I enjoyed Halo 1-3 over the last ~2 months way more than I did when they were first released, I appreciate them a lot now and see what Bungie was going for. Obv. 4 was a different studio but thus far it looks and feels like the series and builds off the mechanics that made the first 3 games enjoyable, so 4 is only as good as it is because of what came before it. I'll play 5 eventually and see if my opinion of 343 holds up.

To bring things full circle, I played through all four games with my dad, and 4 was easily my least favorite. I hated a lot about 2 back in the day, but still the original trilogy is by far the best in my opinion.

My biggest issue with 4, obvious tone and other shifts aside due to the studio change, was the fact that it existed at all considering Bungie concluded their trilogy beautifully, and there was supposed to be no more.

I remember being both super confused and kinda mad seeing the Halo 4 teaser. For one, it looked SO BAD compared to any of the promotional material from previous Halo games, and two, Halo 3 was the end! What was this garbage?!

Personally, I say don't bother with 5. Simply the worst game I've completed in years.

As someone who has put a lot of time into all of the games in the series, I would definitely not skip over 5, I loved a lot about it. But yeah it definitely is different and has a lot of opinions based around it.

It's one of those things where if it was called "Space Knights" or something, it would be a decent, run-of-the-mill shooter. As a Halo game, it doesn't live up to the history.

Possibly the worst ending of a story based game ever. Up there with the first Assassin's Creed.

I'll gauge my expectations and just enjoy a polished game, then. I'm not especially attached to the series or its lore so even if its a big departure, I'll be surprised if I hate it.

Z-Saber said if it was a new franchise and not a Halo game it would have been more enjoyable, so I'll just pretend its a spin-off. ODST was a departure and I really enjoyed it.

If it wasn't a chronological entry in the series, but a side-story, would you have liked it more?

I guess my problems with it are the story, which I can't say I liked any bit of, and some of the things it took from 4, which I also disliked.

I could really nitpick at a lot of things, but I don't want to be that petty. To me, it just wasn't very good.

If it were a non-Halo game, it would be forgettable. If it were a side story, we would compare it to ODST and Reach, and it's not different enough like they were, necessary to the overall story, or enough of a standalone story to make any sense.

Huh, I actually enjoyed the story of 5 and look forward to 6 because of it a lot, there was a lot going on but it was fun and I loved some of the areas/worlds and thought the gameplay itself was a lot of fun, the multiplayer is still a blast to this day.

And comparing old Bungie to 343, well let's just say at least they aren't current Bungie, they definitely have that going for them.

 
Halo 5 was the first Halo game I ever went from start to finish with. Not knowing anything about the story, I found it okay. I could see how a die hard fan would hate it though. Locke is a shitty, boring character. 100% company man generic dude.

To clarify where I stand on the Halo spectrum, I loved and played to death 1 and 3, and to some extent 2. My grandma randomly bought us an Xbox for Christmas, and me and my dad were hooked to Halo. I guess I grew up with it, so while I'm not campaigning to take the womens out of my Ghostbusters, the franchise at its roots has a fond place in my gaming history.

I don't like where it's been heading and like to think that these new games don't really exist since, if Bungie wasn't let go, they probably wouldn't.


I realize how stupid I sound about all this, and I want to stress that as much as I've word-vomited about everything, i actually don't care all that much, either. You can like the newer games and that doesn't bother me.

It's like anything else where after the original people move on (like The Office), it can still be okay at times, but it ain't what it used to be.

I liked the story of Halo 4. You could definitely see 343 trying to build a better relation between Cortana and Chief, instead of having the game just be about Master Chief saving the planet from aliens again.

I'm positive I would have enjoyed the story much more if the level design and gameplay of the campaign wasn't atrocious.
 
Almost pulled the trigger on the FH3 Blizzard Mountain expansion, but then as soon as I did the season pass will go on sale tonight. Wishful thinking I guess.

I thought about holding off for a similar reason but I'm assuming the second DLC will be a Porsche expansion which I don't really care about.

 
Wow. Thanks again to everyone for their condolences. It's great to be in a community that cares about fellow members and hearing from others who also have experienced family losses recently. My thoughts go out to those who also are going through / have gone through this.

Pretty much this in the opposite as well for me, I grew up playing all the Halos, spent way too much time on 2 and 3, then Reach and keep playing them all a bunch now. But if others don't get as much enjoyment from the new ones that's totally fine too, I'm just glad I enjoy them :p

I think the older games were more ahead of their time back in the day. Now a days there are just so many options for Fps I think that keeps Halo from some of the praise it wouldn' otherwise get. That and the exponential grow on internet criticism for everything.

I really liked Halo 5 as well. The store was whatever, I don't really think the story on any Halo game is all that deep. I mean, it has a deep story, but I never get the extra information from the terminals or anything, so I never get to see it. I thought a lot of the people that disliked the story did so because of the advertising of the game. It made it out to seem like it was an epic battle against good guys, and master chief had gone rogue. lol

And that first part may come sooner than later. I was down at my father's killing myself going through his garage and home. Upset also thinking about my mother who died six years ago. And my wife decides to clean our garage out and starts texting me that when I get home I'm going to do this and that.

I'm like WTF? Get home after a long drive back and she's pissed at me! I fucking left.

Haven't gotten a hotel yet but probably will.

I've played through and really enjoyed all the Halo games, except 5. I finished the 1st level and then only played the multiplayer (which is great). How do you all feel about the multiplayer for the series? I basically bought an X1 for the MCC but the multiplayer was broken for so long it was heartbreaking.

I love Halo but have never understood why people like the story so much. The encounters have always been fun especially in coop,but the story is pretty bonkers. And to top it off there has always been complaining about the multiplayer for every game after Halo 3 and in my opinion they have all been great. Reach, 4 and now 5 have all slightly modernized the multiplayer while still staying true to Halo. Just typing this out makes me want to fire up Halo 5 because the online is so damn good.

 
I Watched Ghost in the Shell on Saturday and by Sunday I was struggling to remember alot of it. Such a forgettable film in every way. Every philosophical topic or action or character or whatever that it tried to do, the original Robocop did it better.
