Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

I am only 8+ years late but Saints Row 2 is brilliant. It makes me sad I spent so much of my time back then trying to like GTA IV instead of playing this game instead.
One of the best moments I've had in gaming was in that game. I remember stealing one of those six wheeled tank vehicles, bringing it back to my garage and realizing I could not only keep it but also put giant rims on it. I spent so much time in that game stealing as many cars as I could find and pimping the rides.

I should've bought Blizzard Mountain when it was on sale. fuck.

I really just want Watch Dogs 2 Gold for $40 or less, anything else is gravy.
I bought Blizzard on release. Was kind of burned out on FH3 so I decided to shelve it for just a few days. Which turned into a few months ... and then I watched it go on sale for 50% off. That'll teach me about MSRP purchases ... DOH!

Kranky Kong, is that you?!
yes it is and I still unlocked invincibility in goldeneye with a 00 agent 2 minute finish in the facility with that broken ass controller

So are these updates free? Sorry if It's a dumb question, but I saw during the Scorpio reveal that Forza was "ported" at 4k etc with 4k assets. Does that means massive patch or we have to re-buy these games?
Microsoft is likely to put a similar restriction that Sony has for PS4 Pro, no charging for a Scorpio update. On the plus it means any games that are updated will be done so for free. Conversely, it means many publishers aren't going to bother on older games as they have no direct incentive.

I'd expect all Microsoft developed games, games that are still being actively supported with normal patches or DLC, games that have an upcoming sequel (Shadow of Mordor's update made a lot more sense once Shadow of War was announced.) Beyond that it will be sporadic, mostly from developers that have solid track records on updates like CD Projekt Red, Bethesda, and Blizzard. Indie devs are a wildcard. We'll probably see a lot of fairly straightforward improvements like a straight resolution bump and/or framerate improvement.

Future games will likely have support built in by default.

Got Dangerous Golf on PC as part of a Humble Bundle and wasn't that impressed. Wish those guys were still able to make Burnout games.
They are working on a car game and Dangerous Golf was a kind of test for some of the physics they want to use. I don't think it's a bad game and if you haven't tried it since the patch it's 10x better (hyperbole) the loading times are way less the disaster they were at launch.

Okay, marathon'd (no pun intended) the last few levels of Halo 4 last night after I got home from class. my opinion of the game is once again changed.

The early levels when they introduce the new enemies are boring. Later levels were they mixed things up and you fight new enemies and Covenants are more interesting. Music in the later levels particularly the final one, is way more compelling.

None of this sequences felt overly tedious, which is a complaint I have about some of the vehicle sections on harder difficulties in the first 3 Halo games. In that respect, Halo 4 is fairly well-balanced.

It still feels like an unnecessary game but I ended up enjoying it more than my initial impressions of the first three levels suggested. it goes back and forth between being very fun and original and then feeling generic and uninspired.

Overall I think it's a worthy effort for a new studio with an existing IP, but it really just leaves me wanting to see what 343 would create on their own.

Actually they've stated that all previous games will take advantage of the new hardware before any update comes out for said game. Obviously more so if the devs support it.

Wouldn't hold your breath. I find it incredibly weird that a studio exists for literally one game franchise that has years between drops, but here we are.

Also, Halo 4 was my least favorite of the franchise. It was okay, but not amazing. I actually found the level with the flying and then you're on a gondola and then the gondola keeps stopping at these convenient ports with a thousand enemies randomly on them super tedious, but that's just me. Probably my least favorite part, but at the same time it's nowhere near as bad as Cortana in 3.

So, For Honor sale. 35 bucks. Is that game worth it? The main complaints I see are server issues and "people run away when they're about to die boo."

Yes, I don't expect 343 will ever get to work on anything else, that was just a passing thought. I didn't mind the gondola so much, I had fun sniping enemies.

And yes, the Cortana nightmares every 20 steps in Halo 3 wore out their welcome almost immediately.

I would love to know this, as well. I love Ubisoft games even though a number of people tend to b*tch about them. For Honor has piqued my interest. The only issue I see is that it was recently released, seemingly sold very well and suddenly there has been a precipitous drop in price at multiple stores. Anyone think this is just a temporary sale by most retailers or will this game hit $30 or less in the near future?

The wife is going to let me make some purchases for my upcoming birthday.  Having a hard time deciding between going for that Toys R Us Buy One Get One 50% off and grabbing pre-orders for South Park:  The Fractured But Whole and Red Dead Redemption 2 versus getting Persona 5 Steelbook Edition and a GCU subscription from Best Buy.  Looking for advice here.  What would you guys do?  Thanks in advance for any help.

I mean, I'm waiting for the Xbox Spring Sale next week, but I'm not sure if anything that's been teased so far interests you. As for the choices there, I loved Red Dead, but everyone I've talked to has loved Persona 5. So there you go.

South Park has been bumped to the year 3000. I know I've got that on preorder. As I do Red Dead. Persona 5 is worth the hype. I'd say P5 and GCU. You would get the other games cheaper and possible $10 RZ on other games.

I really like For Honor, when it works. I don't know if it's just issues on the games side or also my connection, but I haven't been able to join a game in the last three days. I know people are playing because it tells you how active a game mode is. I'll either be put in an empty lobby or I'll start joining a game and get disconnected before even getting to the lobby.

There are only three directions to attack/block in and you are usually told which direction an enemy is attacking in, but with fast/weak attacks, slow/strong attacks, combos and environmental interactions (fire, cliffs, etc.) there's a good variety of attacks. However, you'll get an enemy that will spam guard break and attack or constantly throw you off a cliff. It can also get pretty frustrating when you're facing a team that thinks it's necessary for all of them to attack you at the same time.

The single player campaign is interesting, I've finished 2/3 of it and enjoy it. It's nothing amazing but it's a nice change from multiplayer.

I think it's very much a love it or hate it game. I could see it hitting $30 sooner rather than later. I got the gold edition two days after release from target for $60 after a sale and cartwheel.

Yeah, but not directly. Even not patched some games will perform better if there were bottlenecks holding them back, higher frame rates if not reaching the cap of the engine, staying at maximum resolution if the game has a dynamic resolution in place.

It's definitely a great bonus, but nowhere near as good as an actual patch to really take advantage of the hardware.

Beat Andromeda last night. 56 hours of playtime, 88% completion rate.

Would give it a solid 8/10, might write a long review on metacritic later. I gave ffxv a 7/10 for reference

Tried out some designs in the Xbox Design Labs, in preparation of the controller sale, wondering if people see a "Robot White" controller with Midnight Blue bumpers/triggers, d-pad & Military Green thumbsticks along with non-colored ABXY with black background.

and to go with the more than likely Scorpio black color:

"Abyss Black" controller, with Midnight Blue bumpers/triggers, white d-pad/ABXY, V&W, "Photon Blue" thumbsticks.

Just 100%'d it. 81 hours total, 20+ of those were spent in MP. I got the Insanity achievement through MP, took a long time to get good enough to finish 5 gold missions.

It's a solid 4/5, good start to a new trilogy. Reviews should die. They do more harm than good.

I think my biggest problem with reviews now days, is that everyone has a voice, and a lot of that voice reviews something they have not played. If you only get the reviews from people that have finished the game, it's all positive. Then you have people that have not played it, or only played a small segment, and they are trashing it.

Although I might be overly bias, as unless the animation detracts from the experience, it's not going to bother me. Like the MLB glitch bothers me, but minor nuances don't. The animation isn't as good as The Witcher 3, but it never detracts from the experience. (maybe cause I played Scott).

I might revisit it to 100% the achievements, but right now I have too many good games I want to play.

I am 10 hours into Persona 5, and the cat character repeating the same line of dialog everytime your use an enemies weakness is much more annoying (in Persona 5 this means he says the exact same voice line, with no variety, 3 or 4 times in a row, every battle.) Although, the game is excellent so far. I also have Yooka-Laylee and Cosmic Star Heroine next week. Then the Disney Afternoon Collection, Voodoo Vince, and Little Nightmares rounding out the month! I remember when April - August was a dead period for gaming, the time's sure have changed.

On point, and to add to that, another thing people don't take into consideration when they use reviews as a basis for whether they should purchase something or not; is the reviewer a shitty gamer? That's a HUGE thing we don't know. Let's be frank, many people are pretty terrible at games and get frustrated easily, and some of those people have an influential voice online, sadly.

Like for example, I can tell you right now, as much as I love Angry Joe...the guy SUCKS at most games. He complains a lot because he is casual as hell to the 184th power. He does make a lot of good points but sometimes he'll say something and I'll be like, "uhhh, that's because you suck ass, bro. It's not a knock against the game, its a knock against your skill level."

Im gonna bring back the convo on games we've beaten and here it is.

PS4 - HZD
XB1 - Got up to Diamond on OW
Switch - 100 hours into Zelda

Kinda crazy since there are so many games out right now but I guess I've really been taking my time haha

What's the MLB glitch?

Haha yea. I am pretty casual now days, myself. I can still beat the mega man games if I want to, and just beat the considerably easier mega man x games a couple years back, but I understand your point.

I dunno how much I will get to spend in the spring sale, I finally bit the bullet and spent way too much money on an OLED tv. Since my wife and I are both gamers we will both get to enjoy it tho.

Playing through ME 3 before I get to Andromeda, good to see the public opinion isn't as harsh as the media has been on this game.

Nothing's better than the guy selling Xbox one games that increased the prices of the games that never sell (pes)
Haha yup also people posting the same thing at the same prices for the past several weeks and nothing sells . c'mon people if you wanna sell inventory drop the price down a bit.

I finished my first game for the year, but not Xbox, Zelda Twilight Princess on the Wii U. Finally got the USB cable I was waiting for in the mail so I can continue playing Avatar (the game based on the James Cameron movie) on the Xbox 360.

Also, those custom controllers would be so much better if we could do more than just change colors.

You can have your GT etched into it also, but that's extra.
