Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Why is Fable Anniversary still so expensive? It's not even BC
Late life span low selling game.

I am about to give everyone who hasn't played Yooka Laylee the best non spoiler tip I can. Do not expand worlds until after you get all the moves. Just run through all 5 worlds buying moves from the snake, then go back and complete the first world. (if you're a completionist, if not just beat the game). The backtracking is the biggest negative about the game (to me) and it's not that bad, but if you get all the moves before you try to 100% levels it greatly reduces backtracking.

So let me get this straight. The season pass for Telltale Batman is on sale but not the first episode? Thank you Microsoft!

CoD has had some pretty great campaigns.  MW1 & 2 are awesome and 3 is really good. Waw was great as was 2 and 3.  Haven't played BO2 or after #backlog.

Here's some Win10 games that are on sale in the W10 store.  I tried to weed out the playanywhere titles and some may not have achievements. Probably all are the same price as their Xbone counterparts:

Ori and the Blind Forest DE   $9.99

Shadow Complex                   $5.99

TWD: Michonne Ep 1             $1.49

Quantum Break                      $23.99

Deus Ex Go (Not Live)           $.99

Minecraft Story Mode SP       $7.99

Minecraft Story Mode AP       $3.99

Oxenfree (Live?)                    $4.99

Flight Unlimited (Not Live)      $3.99

Hitman GO                              $.99

Siegecraft Commander          $9.99

Holy hell I HATE Activision. I was going to complain how I only got one DLC with each MW game in the bundle, and noticed just now that it says (in the US):

But the italian description says:

That last part omits the "first DLC", it just says DLC.

Guess I could get a refund then? Because I genuinely thought it was all MW games with all DLCs. I got this even if I owned the discs because of the two MW2 DLCs and the MW3 ones.
That does seem like a pretty important omission of "primo".

I thought it always said first DLC. Didn't we call it out in this thread? Are you really going to argue with them about the Italian translation? Did you buy it from the Italy Xbox Live marketplace?
Er, have you considered the fact that maybe he or she is Italian, and thus would be buying from the Italian marketplace by default?

re: Fable... with 3rd party titles, MS is at their mercy for BC, but games they published themselves (Halo 3 and ODST, Crackdown 1-2, etc.) they can do what they want. I'm sure they're saving Crackdown for the 3rd game as a promo, but for other games it just doesn't make sense. I know MCC might be a reason they don't want to put the other Halo games on, but they already have Halo 3 away a long time ago, so most people already own it.

Have you played Titanfall 2? I'm guessing not, because they're about as different as two FPSs can be.
This is very true. I've never found CoD more than moderately entertaining (other than CoD4, which wasn't trying to impress anyone the way the annual releases do now). But TF2? I went in with no expectations, and it's one of the best SP campaigns I've played in possibly a decade.

Telltale usually makes the first episode of their series free at some point. I don't know if that has happened for Batman yet, though I don't know why they do the non-full season season passes on Xbox Live.

I forgot about that, was checking my 360 and saw the description, so I deleted my installed discs and bought it. At the very least, they may not refund me but fix the description before someone else falls for it.

And yes I bought from that because I'm italian and live in Italy and I won't risk my digital 360 purchases to swap regions. Plus Ubisoft games are cheaper here :p

It was definitely free at some point, if not still currently, as I have it both on the 360 and X1

I have bought Risen 2...

^ I love ALL of the CoD campaigns. They are fundamentally solid, fun shooters, with kickass set pieces. Yes ALL of them - even Ghosts.
The CoD campaigns get overshadowed by the multiplayer discussion, usually.
Completely agree. CoD always has a solid campaign mode, especially if you dig the continuing stories across the games (especially WaW, BO, & BO2). Take your time playing a campaign here and there with palette cleanser games in between. I was more impressed with each title since I played it that way.

I think online mp military shooters have a (well-earned) rap for over-saturation, frustrating opponents, and so on, which over-shadows the campaigns. Plus with CoD being the annual big dog, it's an easy target for blind haters.

I personally am not an online shooter guy, but I enjoyed all of the campaigns. I also LOVED Titanfall 2's campaign.

360 was free last Black Friday week, XB1 was free for Gold. During the year end countdown, XB1 was free for Gold, XB1 non-Gold and 360 was 75 cents.
I have a purchase date of 12/27/16 for 0.00 for the 360 on my spreadsheet, no dates for my X1 version since I was a late adopter I never bothered to keep detailed records outside of what I have licenses for.

Yeah, it was free for awhile in November and it went free again in December.

Episode 2 was free for awhile as well. Likely a mistake and I think they might have revoked it as well.

So for this sale I am contemplating Just Cause 3 DLC, Blue Dragon, both Wolfenstein games and the Red Faction games. At some point I would like to get Dead Island: Definitive Edition, Overcooked and Call of Duty 3 to add to my backlog. Thoughts on any of those latter three? Overcooked seems like a good price. I would like to see Dead Island's price come down a bit but I've seen that go for $16 before and I almost bit the last time it did. The COD BC games don't seem to go past $10 for some reason...
Dead Island: I've only played the first one on 360 and am contemplating getting it on X1. It was a fun game with decent coop. If you've played Dying Light, it's similar but without parkour, and not as fun in my opinion. If you haven't played Dying Light I'd recommend putting the money towards that. $16 for two full retail games and one small game seems like a good deal to me though if you have played DL.

Overcooked: Haven't played it but picked it up last sale, heard it's a fun couch coop game.

CoD 3: Decent WWII campaign, it's obviously dated graphically. Been a while since I've played the campaign. If you're an achievement hunter, be prepared for a lot of grinding. There are achievements for multiplayer and 99% of players are boosters and it will take at least 15 hours of someone throwing a flag at you to earn points, if you're lucky. Even before BC I don't think I've seen any CoD drop below $9.99.

I have great memories of CoD 2 because it came in a bundle with the early 360 back when it was ridiculously expensive and the graphics were mind blowing in comparason to the previous gen.

I really really enjoyed all 18 seconds of gameplay before my first RROD

I'm a new XB1 owner this week...are those good deals for Killer Instinct and Forza 6?
not the lowest on killer instinct but a fair price

I believe there are two characters not included because they are newer that are about 5 bucks a piece

if you had a 360 and claimed gwg games there were some killer instinct freebies in the past

so many people here hate COD campaigns, yet love Titanfall 2

I don't get it
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was like holy fuck, this is really good and was developed by Infinity Ward.

A few years later...

Titanfall 2 was like holy fuck, this is really good and was developed by Respawn, ex-Infinity Ward.

Each CoD campaign is like a Hollywood blockbuster and at the time they were all excellent. Problem is though that series is going ever so long... ...with the magic created by previous developer studios already tbh.

Yeah storming the beach of Normandy was such a wow moment.

They're good, we've all been here for a while so they're not so for us but a new owner will be good here, in context a lot of good deals for new owners. You can always check out Storeparser on a price history for whatever game you're looking at.

Or you know, continue using emulators ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
hmm 600 bucks for a rinky dink Nintendo sponsored emulator with 30 games and a dick sized cord

or every game for every system up till gamecube with the only cost being the replica controllers with 20 foot cords

tough call

Not totally true. Only the host can initiate a save but the stats/studs are saved for both players as long as both are signed in. Annoyingly there is stuff that only the host can do (like pilot the ship to chose a new planet), but it's been minor so far.
I'll have to try it then, thanks. Have enough for one more purchase. Deciding between Lego Worlds, Recore, or several cheaper games I don't really want but may fall in love with.

Friendly PSA
Nes classic is now being discontinued so get one now or pay a 300%-400% premium in the future.
This is either because it somehow interferes with Switch production, or because people figured out how to hack it and add like 600 games. I guess they did say it was a limited item, but it seems like they're just throwing money away. Either way it sucks pretty hard that they're just dropping it.

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record (apparently a good DLC was not included in the re-release).
It's not really a DLC, more like an expansion. It's a redone what-if story with Frank as the main character, with a new area and totally different ending. The big addition is a whole new free-play mode with a ton of challenges, where you can just mess around forever with no requirements. It's worth $10, it just kind of sucked on launch that a DLC upgrade option wasn't offered.

Cool! I'll just play my emulator from the other side of the room

So how screwed am I lol

I called 8004MYXBOX only to find out that the only way I'm gonna get access is if I can get access to my email I used to the register the account... said email was closed due to inactivity over a year ago. The only reason I had the account was because I purchased probably 40+ digital games on it. My 360 was stolen back in November... I just got my XBone a couple weeks ago.

Well google can't find any record of the email account even existing, but when I try to create an account with the same name it claims it's in use. Google is dumbfounded and is "looking into it"...

Lookin like I'm losing that digital catalog 😔

I like the CoD campaigns but you can't lump Titanfall 2's campaign in the same bucket. T2 had some of the most refreshing and unique segments in a shooter campaign than I can think of in the last 5 years. Some of it wouldn't even really fit in a CoD campaign at all -- I'm not just talking about some of the gameplay mechanisms but things like the massive factory level were fantastic.

I won't say more for fear of spoiling it for others but it's one of the few campaigns that I absolutely intend to play over again (when my backlog dies down...which, admittedly, may be never.).

Not an insult to CoD which has had some excellent set pieces and situations within the campaigns but nothing prepared me for how cool Titanfall 2's campaign was.
i like the time travel level, but other than that it felt like a typical shooter to me

i didn't like using the titan, it felt slow and clunky to me

Valid opinions. Just not sure many would agree.
i think expectations factor into it

call of duty is anticipated every year whether you play it or not, just about everybody wants to know how it turns out, when a game sells like that you might expect it to be better than it is, when it's less than great it's a disappointment

and then a game like Titanfall 2 comes out, nobody has any expectations for it whatsoever, it turns out to be better than expected causing people to overrate it

it's also cool to hate Call of Duty, that's a factor too

It's fine that YOU have that opinion but I don't think it's overrated by any means. It wasn't just "better than expected". It was literally the best FPS campaign I have played in years regardless of franchise.

The level design alone in places like the factory was amazing. If anything, I think critics underrated the campaign. But that's my (and many others) opinion.

Just my opinion here (and nothing against emulation) the best way to play NES games is on original hardware with an everdrive. My cost was around 100 bucks for the system and the drive. Which is why I never got crazy about the mini. It's way too much at MSRP for the nostalgia it offers and a majority of the games on it have been rereleased in collections.

I'll have to try it then, thanks. Have enough for one more purchase. Deciding between Lego Worlds, Recore, or several cheaper games I don't really want but may fall in love with.
Paid $16 at BB with GCU for Lego worlds. I'm not sure if they're still running that sale, but for me that's the price to beat.

So far I'm blown away by Lego Worlds and I think I'm possibly enjoying it more than my kid is.

Beat the main story-lines on Saints Row 2 tonight.  Real fun game.  While there were some design choices that definitely show it is an 8 year old game I still only felt overly frustrated a few times.  Lots of missions but they were sometimes on the super short side.  With all that though the writing and cut-scenes were just awesome.  Some of the street dialogue had me laughing hard.  One of my favorites was walking by this couple on a park bench and the woman says "I think it may be time for a visit to Dr. Coat Hanger".  I nearly spit my drink out.  Actually looking forward to trying SR3 and 4 after a cleanser game in between.

one has slow and clunky titans, the other does not

that was the only difference i saw

bioshock is different than call of duty
So, no difference in movement? Considering that parkour, double-jumps, wall-running, etc. play a factor in about every level? That's like saying the only difference between CoD multiplayer and Battlefield is planes. You obviously can like what you want, but to throw out such an exaggeration and then imply that people who aren't crazy about CoD campaigns just don't like them because they're popular is silly.

And I only recall one or two people saying they weren't crazy about the CoD campaigns. I liked the ones I've played and I think others did, too. The yearly releases made me lose interest, honestly. I enjoyed the original Modern Warfare, Black Ops, MW2 campaigns a lot and the only one that I tried and lost interest in was World at War.

I mean, we can argue all day about what's better and that's just a matter of opinion, but to say you don't see an objective difference in the games beyond the presence of titans is kinda mind-blowing.

That was one of the three CoD campaigns I've ever played and I did enjoy it for that scene.

This was also a good one.
Hahaha, wow, looking back at that and having played what DICE, Relic and Infinity Ward can deliver, it feels so bland. That said, I do remember that scene though. Playing the Omaha Beach mission in Company of Heroes was just fucking brutal- and that was a RTS game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bsly3xYx4k

SO I finally bit the bullet on a few items with help with my Microsoft Balance;

Shadow Warrior

Ryse: Son of Rome SP

Lego Marvel's Avengers Deluxe

& Battle Worlds: Kronos

I'm kind of in the dark with Shadow Warrior but I grabbed that free of charge with credit. I've been waiting what seems like forever for the SP for Ryse and also waited for Avengers to get to a good price too. Battle Worlds: Kronos is a TBS game that was kickstarted, has a civilization hex UI feel, reminds me of Advance Wars/Alpha Centauri. Heck for $4, I figured I'd grab it, esp since I actually did see the game when they launched it back in 2013 on PC and found it interesting. Not a lot of love for TBS games on consoles, and I do prefer Real-Time Strategy over Turn-Based, but dude, it's $4, Gold price, with a decent overall metacritic rating (in the 70s). I'll take those odds.

The HDMI output of the NES Mini is the big selling point for me. An original NES looks like shit on an HD TV as is. Modding HDMI onto a normal NES is more expensive than the $60 retail price. If I found one at retail and modded more games onto it I think it'd be a good deal.

I still have my NES model 2 hooked up and a couple hundred physical games, so I guess something like a Retron 5 is probably more cost effective personally.

Eventually I think it'd probably be best for me to just get a better PC to TV setup than I currently have. I'd like to just do all emulation that way, probably up to Dolphin, so I can play a bunch of PS1 and PS2 stuff alongside HD GameCube/Wii games and all the retro stuff.

Why is Fable Anniversary still so expensive? It's not even BC

Which is why I ruled it out. No way I'm paying $16 for a first-party title that should be BC at this point. I honestly doubt MS has any plans for Fable in the foreseeable future. Which makes even more baffling the fact that the game's still $39,99 when not on sale and not BC.
The Trilogy has been $15 at least a handful of times. I already owned 2 digitally (previous GwG) and 3 physically but couldn't pass up owning all three digitally for that price.

If you're not from those countries, then you're going against Live's ToS and face potential console bans.
Well, I suppose that using VPN and proxys is not allowed, but there are other countries where you can buy without much problem. As I am from Spain the prices are normally higher.

In Spain the only games which are cheaper than other countries are ACA NEO GEO ones. in my case I have bought games from USA, Canadá, Russia or Hong Kong, I have talked with Xbox Support many times and there hasn't been a problem even they know I have bought games from other stores. Anyway, yes, as you said is against Live's ToS.

So I ended up buying Witcher 3 I sold it 2 weeks after launch didn't really get into it the first time around but my god! This game is amazing lol I'm really sinking my teeth into it this time around and it's glorious!

Got my eyes on aaero, ocean horn, state of decay and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head.
