Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

So... I have zero nostalgia for the N64 Rare games. Any thoughts on how "Banjo Kazooie" and "Perfect Dark" have aged? Are they worth an impulse buy at their sales price?
Well if you have zero now, get ready to get some.......fire up some Perfect Dark it still rocks.

So far have grabbed-

Thinking about-
We'll see how the rest of the week shakes out- currently I'm running through Skyrim (for the 7th time) on XBO.  It's just so relaxing and enjoyable to go back.  Needed a palate cleanser after finishing the Mass Effect trilogy.

1. Buy a used copy of the Game of the Year edition of (whatever game) from GameStop.
2. Install the DLC from the disc.
3. Return the used copy within 7 days for a full refund.
This is, like, CAG 101 right here.
Unless they recently changed this for BC games, this doesn't work. It works on the 360, but not X1. I tried installing the GOTY disc of New Vegas, took the disc out and tried to play the digital copy of the game and it didn't register the dlc.

Not sure, but if you have an XB1 I'd say wait for the next inevitable Rare Replay sale.
Unfortunately I do not have an XB1, otherwise I'd instantly buy Rare Replay. I'm just a PS sheeple who feeling compelled to take their 360 out of storage due to the BC sale. I'm nondiscriminatory when it comes to good deals :)

Personally I think Perfect Dark 1 still holds up, the biggest negative is that the controls feel a bit weird because of the auto-aim that was basically required on the N64 since it only had one stick. You can either leave it on and get used to it or turn it off and the game becomes a bit harder since it was designed with it in mind. But it's not bad, and they have a few different control scheme options to help you find one you like, with button layouts based around some of the bigger modern shooters like Halo and CoD.

Game design is great though. The more free-form design where you have objectives to complete in missions still feels unique since most FPS games now are just move forward and kill. All weapons have secondary fire options and that helps with variety, along with some cool gameplay quirks guns like the Laptop Gun and FarSight XR-20 bring to the table. Harder difficulties give you more to do, and there is quite a bit to do in general. Multiplayer is still fun but online is pretty dead. A ton of weapons, mostly good map design, and really customizable bots still give a lot to do.

I've heard the newest Hitman have a lot of comparisons to Perfect Dark and Goldeneye thanks to it's free-form mission design so that could give you some idea if you played it. I still haven't yet.

Banjo is a solid 3D platformer, probably best on the N64 after Mario, if you like the genre you'll probably like it.
Thanks for the thoughts. PD was the game I was more on the fence on since the fps genre has change so much since it's release. Probably going to mull it over for a couple days, and make a decision before the end of the sale.... Thanks again!

I'd go for it.....Alice was pretty sweet
I agree. It's a fun game and definitely worth playing through.
I might give it further consideration. I do recall hearing it was pretty good as a platformer.

So far I picked up Ikaruga, Ghostbuster( the good one) and samurai showdown 2. Any other good recomandation for 2 d shooter type game?
If you're looking for shmups, I believe Guwange and R-Type Dimensions are supposed to be pretty good.

I've never played any of those three games on anything but a 360, so I can't say. Mah bad!

Rare Replay should also get you digital versions of every XBLA and retail game in the collection, so unless you can't buy XB1 stuff without an XB1 attached to your account or you don't get the versions of those games playable on the Xbox 360, it might be worth it to wait for a sale.

Origins was pre-EA? Always thought it was EA Bioware...

Regardless, I 100% agree with this statement. Dragon Age: Origins is the best console RPG to date.
The game was done long before the deal with EA was consummated. You can tell too. Compare it to Inquisition and DA II, you can literally feel the difference between a game with EAs influence all over it and one without it.

Rare replay doesn't give you the 360 copies of games. It just gives you access to them on the Xbox one.

I haven't played the game yet, but Omega Five looks pretty good. Check out a gameplay video

Gamestop is having a 4/$20 sale on select used games. The Gears of War/Rare Replay bundle is included in the sale. I'd go that route to get Rare Replay on the cheap.

Damn Frisky, first with the PD having no achievements and now saying RR works on 360. You should work at CNN with all the fake news you're spreading!

I need to get with the program and grab the 5 or so BC titles I really want from this sale. Is the NBA Jam title any good? Really pretty dissapointed in playgrounds.

An Emerald Phantom weapon skin set for Gears 4 will be given out over the next couple weeks.  Some skins will be unlocked by playing Escalation, the rest for watching Esports live streams.  Boltok will be available through a quest in the live stream that starts at the top of the hour.  Skins are not immediately available, will be in the game's June update and distributed after that.

Since people have been asking about Alice anyway, I have a question that's been bothering me for some time.  I bought the game digitally on sale a few years ago and it's still in my backlog.

My question is this: to fully enjoy the Alice games, do I need to have read the two original Lewis Carroll books?  I never have, and I feel like that would negatively affect my experience playing the games since I'm not that familiar with most of the characters and events from the original stories.

I have bought:

  • Half-Minute Hero
  • de Blob 2
  • Torchlight
  • Kameo
  • Trine 2
  • Rage
  • The Orange Box

Any other games I should check out?
Don't know that I can recommend anything, but I'll share what I've purchased so far in case you forgot something on my list:

Earthworm Jim HD

Dragon's Lair

R-type Dimensions

Ghostbusters (the good one :) )

Double Dragon Neon

Alice: Madness Returns

Dark Void

Shadows of the Damned

Still debating

Ikaruga or Omega Five (don't want too many shmups)

Orange Box

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

No one reads to enjoy non RPG video games and I legit think you're only one to ever have those concerns considering those are kids books and this is an M rated game.

I've been playing Alice and think the only thing you need to know is that she went down a rabbit hole and some fucked up shit happened to her....and now it's even more fucked up. ;)

I know that those are kids books and these are M rated games, but aren't they still meant to be direct sequels/follow-ups to the books? Just much darker in tone?

I think you may be the first person I've seen who's worried about reading the book before playing a game. Most people know the basic (or a variation) or Alice, this just takes it and puts a twisted spin on it.

Which one is the good Ghostbusters?

It's its own universe so no, hence American McGee's name on the games. Plus the dark tone should be an indication if anything that "this ain't your grandma's Alice in Wonderland"

Also there's a bunch of books based on The Witcher, but you don't need any of the books to enjoy those games and they're crazy steeped in that lore. So really all I'm saying is this should NEVER be a concern with video games as a whole.

GODDAMMIT.

Warning, save games for the digital version of Dead Space 2 (and presumably 3) apparently aren't compatible with disc saves and vice versa. I was half-wy through a second play-through on Zealot when I traded in my disc copy and bought the digital version. I loaded the game and none of my saves are there. I assumed it wouldn't matter since the X1 uses the exact same install, but apparently not.

I'm so fucking mad.

Slightly off topic but maybe somebody here can help me out. I've been having trouble with downloads for the past day or so. Any time I try downloading the EA Access update or Phantom Dust, the download never seems to initiate and it actually shuts down my internet requiring a reset of my router. I haven't had any issues downloading anything else including a few games from the BC sale and some updates to other Xbox One games. Anyone else ever had similar problems or know of potential solutions? I've tried a hard reset of the console a few times and like I mentioned I've reset the router numerous times as well.

Alright guys, fine. I won't bother to read the damn books. I doubt I'll ever make it far enough into my backlog to play these games anyway! :wall:

Wow, that really sucks. I wonder if the same will hold true for Mass Effect 2 & 3 if EA ever makes them available digitally on 360. I'd like to not have to switch discs for those games but not if I can't use any of my save data.

Just saw at Gamestop, buy a year of Gold and get 3 months free. The 3 month code prints out on the receipt.
It looks like Amazon has the same deal. There is a "Must Click Here to Purchase" in the Bonus Offer section to the right of the "About the Product" to get the additional 3 months.

So far I've bought:

Left 4 Dead

Discs of Tron

Tower Bloxx Deluxe

Joe Danger Special Edition

Boom Boom Rocket

Comic Jumper

Still a bunch I'm thinking about:

Far Cry 3 (never beat coop)

Deadliest Warrior

Half Minute Hero

Shadows of the Damned

Sam and Max

Metal Slug

& more I won't list

Man going from Killer Instinct to Injustice 2 is killing me. KI is so fluid and fast paced, while Injustice has that clunky ass canned combo system. It's fun but it's never a good idea to go from one extreme to the other, I've quickly learned.

The "open world" trailer released today for Middle Earth: Shadow of War has me fapping in the moonlight. Check it for yourself at the trailer below. (The guitar riff at 0:30 sounds like a deep cut by The Cure.)

My haul so far has been:

Dead Space 2
R-Type Dimensions
Toy Story 3
Omega 5
Haunted Mansion

There are so many great games on sale, I just have most of them already. I'll peruse the list a few more times this week and probably end up getting half a dozen more games.

I thought about diving back in and going ahead and grabbing Alan Wake AN and Gunslinger since they're so cheap.

Also, I have Alice on disc which I'm content with, but I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to buy digital and trade it into GS for ~$14ish dollars.

Your choices are:

Own the game and be forever damned to have to pop in a disc.

OR

Trade in that bitch, buy it digitally, and have GS cash left over.

I know... but I hardly ever use Gamestop. Hell, the last time I was in there was before Christmas when The Division was $10 new and King's Quest was $20 new.
