Just a thought. Every person complaining about Far Cry 5 has a lot of problems if they're being offended at seeing a non-Christian cult led by a white dude, who controls people of all ethnicities.

If they're identifying with a cultist leader... they need help. Bigly.

I also fail to see the parallels between this guy and Trump, yet a lot of them bring him up. I wonder why.

fucking cultists.
I hope Far Cry 6 takes place in Illinois against the Nazi party....

Is Steam Economy Enhancer not working so well for anyone else?

Clicking on a card doesn't show the sell prices or buttons most of the time. Tried on Firefox and Chrome.
It's working on my side, at least that part, although it was updated like 19 hours ago.

"Holy crap" @ those forums.

Anyways, I think FC5 with its setting, premise, and all sounds interesting. I'll be ready for it, when I finish FC4 + get Primal & FC5 price-drops, as usual.
I was a bit surprised when I saw the setting... Montana not really a state that describe excitement to me so I figured they would continue with more exotic locals. Also I sort of figured Ubisoft would avoid the US after the fallout from Rainbow Six Patriots, which was cancelled and replaced with Siege.

Also if the wildlife stays as aggressive as what I've seen in other FC (mostly videos as I've only played some of Primal) then its going to be somewhat laughable. People do not die in the US (yes, even Montana) everyday to wildlife.

Anyhow, couple of the official Patriots videos that got released as I'm not sure how many people would remember it... Truly sorry the game never saw release.

Don't know if you clowns saw this on clearance in the Walmart Thread.

Works great for PC and the 4 extra buttons are fully programmable w/o any software; just needs to be plugged in.

Also, the face buttons and 4 additional ones on the top and back (XYAB) are tactile like a mouse click which register w/ very little force.
I'm kind of interested in this but I feel the cord will fail way too quick... and frankly reviews about the quality of the controller is pretty negative.

IF you buy BDO (explorer's or the other pack), DON'T use the damn Inventory upgrade or horse whistle until you know what class you want to play as it does not tell you it's character bound and not account-wide.

Waste of $45 upgrade.

RIP
That seems like something worth mentioning when one goes to redeem it... I know I saw nothing like that.

I think I'm playing the character I want to play... but I'll probably never know now as I doubt I'll mess around with any of the other classes now.

Just finished Undertale. Good game with a lot of charm but I don't understand the incessant hype around it. I'd put it like a 7.5/10 or so. Of games with heavy Earthbound influences I thought Lisa was much better.

I assume they'll cut back on the wildlife since part of that was making the previous locations seem exotic. You'll probably have a cougar attack and some wild dogs in there somewhere but not the constant threat of tigers and eagles.

I liked 3 & 4 but they were virtually identical from a thematic standpoint (American recruited to solve cultural issues in some Asian jungle) so I'm happy to see something different.

I felt about the same, played it for an hour or two, had some laughs and appreciated the unique combat and option to be friendly, but quickly got tired of the mechanics and just sorta moved on. I realized I was probably never going to get back to the game, so I wound up watching a playthrough on Steam Train (two, actually, pacifist and genocide), and I have to say I was fairly impressed.

I probably have as many gripes with it as I have things I'd say they did really well, but all in all I do understand the hype to an extent. It's still a messy little game with repetitive gameplay (thankfully it's short), an extremely topsy turvy plotline, and relatively inconsistent art, but it really did something neat that needs to be seen more in modern games.

For one, I don't think the peaceful approach was anything groundbreaking. It was not the first game to do that (I have no idea what was, but the original Shin Megami Tensei did almost the EXACT same thing, and it's very apparent that Undertale drew heavily from that series). Somewhat active turn based battle mechanics were also nothing new, albeit they were done in a neat, fairly unique way. What the game DID an amazing job on was drawing the player into an emotional state where your actions really are your own to choose, and the effects of your actions have a clear effect on the outcome of the game.

You can do the same in many games. Say, Fallout for example, you're free to murder almost whoever you want. Hell, in 3 you can murder the entire wasteland, and then waltz through the storyline and "save" the wasteland... as if you're the hero. There's very little consequences for even the darkest of actions, and it all just feels sterile and pointless anyhow. Undertale somehow made you feel a hell of a lot more responsible and connected to the silly little bordering obnoxious characters it created. This is minor spoilers, but Papyrus may be horrifically annoying at times, but if you play the genocide route and choose to kill him when he spares you? That's one of the most wrenching little pixel scenes I've ever watched. It's so tiny and silly, but it's like, damn.

I'd definitely say the genocide route is the one that really captures the emotion in the game (even though you feel awful about it, and it's best played on your second or third playthrough). In the end it's still a very messy story. They get waaay too meta in the deep parts of the game, and it's almost as if the writer had 100 ideas and decided to throw them ALL in. All the business with souls turns into a convoluted mess where it makes very little sense who is who, and even when you understand it, it's sort of like... that still doesn't really make a lot of sense. That said, the story is the point of the game, and it is definitely engaging and will tug at your heart a bit and throw you through some loops.

For a simple, whimsical little game, it's got the darkest narrative I've come across in a game in just about ever. That's definitely something to be said. I'd still probably only give it 8/10 or so, so I agree with you there. I just watched the playthrough a couple days ago though, oddly, so I've had all that rolling around in my head, lmao.

Out of curiosity, which route did you take? Pacifist, neutral, or genocide? You'll pretty much always get neutral unless you're specifically trying for one of the others, and it's definitely the most lackluster of endings.

Ugh! There's another game (R6 Patriots) that I never wanted to see hit the Gaming Graveyard - along w/ Black Isle's Torn, Black Isle's Van Buren (i.e. old-school Fallout 3), Human Head's Prey 2, Platinum's Scalebound, and probably numerous others I can't think of at the moment.

EDIT:

I think the whole Cult theme + settings sounds interesting to me for FC5. I really don't need every FC game to deal w/ wildlife + things of that sort as the main theme in the open-world, as eventually...that just might feel beat to death. They've done plenty of that in FC3+4.

Only thing normally w/ UbiSoft games is - well, they take a really interesting + cool theme, but they don't really say too much about it, in any shape of form - whether the characters have any thoughts on these matters. It's basically...these elements are just...there. There's so much they could've said about Watch Dogs 1 w/ some of the themes that are in there (hacking, spying, Big Brother, sex trafficking, etc), but just didn't.

I tried to get pacifist but I missed
hanging out with undyne
, so wound up w/neutral. I think i can still go back and do that though, which i might do. By the end of the game I was just ready for it to be over, though. One of the last sections,
the hotlands, gets incredibly annoying w/alphys interrupting every 2.7 seconds w/a phone call. Just let me play the fucking game. To be honest I think I'd feel somewhat differently about the game if it weren't for that. That last major section does extreme damage to the pacing of the game, imo. It feels like a really long, unsatisfying grind through the Hotland and then you get to the final boss, whom if you haven't been leveling up/are trying to play a pacifist run is pretty frustrating. Up until the Hotland i'd probaby give the game like an 8.75/10 or so, I was really enjoying it. Hotland section I'd give like a 5.

Yeah, I'm not even sure you can hang out with her prior to fighting the final boss. It's at that point that you have to go do that bit, then another major one, THEN the end comes. That's definitely the chunk of the game that makes the pacifist run really neat. It's the "true" ending. I'd definitely suggest you give it a shot before shelfing the game. There aren't any more grindy sections, and you
don't actually fight any of the same final bosses over again, not really. It's a lot of uncovering the truth behind things and leading to the real finale.

As for Hotland, absolutely. That was the part of the playthrough I stopped paying attention much and just started watching close again once they got past that bit, lmao.

Also, if you aren't up to playing the game through again (genocide is a lot more grindy, since you have to kill off all random encounters in each area, no joke), you should watch a genocide playthrough at some point. After playing/watching the pacifist run and getting chummy with all the characters, it is real fucking dark, and it isn't simply just a bunch of killing, there's deeper story stuff involved in that one too. I'm biased and would recommend the Steam Train playthrough (the Sans battle is pretty hilarious), but I'm sure there are lots of good ones or silent, purely game ones as well.

Yeah, I might do all that. Kind of want a break, so might play another game then do the extra stuff needed for pacifist/watch the genocide runthrough. Thanks for the feedback on it

If anyone has some ideas for how I can figure this out, greatly appreciated.

So yesterday my computer just decided to conk out on me. Was surfing along and shutdown, couldn't get it to power back up. I've had PSU issues before, so my mind immediately went to that. I went and got a new one without troubleshooting anything else and popped it in and same problem. Nothing powers on.

I then went and tested each component and I'm left with a couple possibilities.

- With most everything unpowered, I was able to get power when just the CPU (and main power connector obviously) was plugged in.

- I tried also with the memory sticks in/out and was able to get power either way.

- With hard drive plugged in, I got power, but never got the POST beep and nothing flashes on hard drive indicator light.

- With GPU plugged in, absolutely nothing would power on. The LED on the GPU would flash on along with the power supply fan spinning for a split second, but doesnt hold power. I imagine a short could be the culprit for that.

I'm at a complete loss on how to troubleshoot this. It seems clear that the HDD, GPU, or probably mobo is at fault here being Im getting no beep or HDD activity. Im unable to swap parts with another machine to test. The fact that I'm not getting a POST beep or hard drive indicator light leads me to believe it could be the HDD, but the power cutting out with GPU plugged in is suspect as well. Ah well, worst case scenario my new build plans are accelerated. I'm moving this week so if this is my only problem its small potatoes.

My money would be on the mobo failing. It doesnt sound like its the hard drive since you have the issues with the hard drive in one scenario and the GPU in another. Because you cant get it to post you wont even be able to try to boot from a usb or cd.

I had a issue with a mobo years ago and it was the toughest thing to track down, people usually dont have spare mobos laying around so its not easy to swap one out and see if thats the issue.

Probably best to just get one of those steam machines so you dont have to worry about this stuff going forward!

Any chance your board has onboard video?

Might have mentioned it in your thread but can you get to bios without your HD connected? Curious to see what happens with just CPU and video card.

(Suspecting video card on my end or bigger issue like mobo)

It's almost certainly the GPU, blah.

I noticed a VGA port on the I/O panel that I had never used before so decided to try it. Everything loaded up fine. So either the GPU is cooked or theres something wrong with the PCI-E connector. Don't have another GPU handy, so will get a new one that I planned on getting for the new build anyway, and see if it works with this machine.

Gonna check with MSI/Newegg and see if any warranty still stands, but not expecting it.

Yikes, that's no good...moving sucks.

But for the computer stuff, are you using video output from your mobo while the discrete video card is out? Are you able to get into the BIOS and poke around? Maybe try going back to defaults in there just to simplify things. Check temps while you're in there, too.

Do you have another slot to try the GPU in (and a different SATA slot for the hard drive)? I doubt that does anything but it's something to try. My guess, like you, is mobo. The problem definitely seems to be something with power handling and if you've eliminated the power supply as a problem, the mobo would be next in line. Even if the hard drive fails, you should get the beep and then a message about a missing boot drive or something like that, right?

Anyway, good luck! I was replacing a power supply in a secondary computer at home yesterday and accidentally broke the SATA data connection off the boot drive while I was moving shit around. Thank God for backups. I get to see how easy it is to install and activate Windows 10 without a disc or product key (because I upgraded during the first year from 8.1).

Its the GPU or the PCI-E slot. I narrowed it down after INMATE mentioned onboard video. I had always assumed that it didnt have it, but I never had to check for it since Ive had a GPU in it since day one. Once I did that, everything worked as normal, but without the GPU. Unfortunately, I only have the one PCI-E slot so will have to get the GPU looked at by someone else, or its the PCI-E slot itself.

Its weird that with one power connector into the GPU, the fans on the card (970) would start up etc. But when I tried to boot it up it would say "Please power down and connect the power cables", but with both, the power would fail and nothing would power up.

It still could be the mobo if the PCI-E connector is faulty, but until I can test the GPU or get a different GPU to test it with, I dunno how else to find out.

MSI has a three year warranty on their cards so check that.

To get this back on topic to Undertale, you have to finish the neutral route first before you can do the true pacifist. I also missed the part you mentioned, but after you beat the game with the neutral ending, assuming you've done so as a pacifist, you can go back and still complete that particular event and then proceed straight into the true pacifist route.

I actually need a new controller since I have cracks forming in my Xbox Design Labs controller. I can't find any of these near me though.

Do you have the game?
Clearly. And the explorer pack. I was silly and bit because of you guys. Now I'm level 12 running around killing goblins.. or steel goblins.. or some such with no direction other than hitting , and talking to blob. Tried to refund but will only get like 2 bucks back... so that's not really worth it. Shame. I also like MMO's... but this one is very.. bleh. And no one in chat will explain how I get my pet that I paid for.

You have to refund the DLC (not the base game) to get the$29.70 back. Since the base game is $2.70 combined with the pack.

Also, the game isn't about the story.

Feel free to add Syntax or me. We are like level 30 -.- still noobs but have our pet and such.

To Redeem Pet and other accessories (I would wait until you KNOW which class you wanna play; though the horse and pet are account wide...the other things are not):

ESC > Redeem > Click Redeem on the PET item on the Internet Popup

Pet will go to your Pearls tab when pressing "i" in game. Click it again to use it.

Steam won't let me refund as the pack is considered "consumable" never mind the fact that I can't actually figure out how to USE the pack.

And it's not the lack of story, more like the lack of direction. Like... how do I go about fishing or crafting or even figuring out how to redeem my items that I bought. These are like 101 kinda things. Instead I have a keh keh black thing who's just pointing me to the next thing to kill.

EDIT: Figured out how to redeem it... finally.

Funny, I don't remember anyone yelling "But what about ISLAM!" when FC4 had arranged marriages and stuff for their pseudo-Hindu faith but now that it's a pseudo-Christian cult we need to go insane about how Ubisoft is too afraid to talk about the "real evil".

I might buy this one on pre-order just to raise sales and trigger the goofs. Plus, I gotta use up my zGold!
Is there an orange President in this game?

None around here; meh.

4 extra buttons on a XB-style controller that works on PC sounds interesting to me.

I saw these the other day for $70.  Do people really pay that for a controller?  I looked them up on Amazon and the reviews weren't as positive as they should be for something that retails for $150.

I'm level 26 and largely feel as though I don't know what I'm doing but I keep moving forward.  Figured out how to link nodes when I had some trade merchant stuff I wanted to sell.  Think I might try some sort of crafting tonight.  From what I gather, the little black dude keeps the main plot moving and helps you get started but you hit a point where you're finding a bunch of quests on your own.  I haven't talked to him since probably level 20ish.  I have managed to save up a bunch of coin and then buy some new armor through the marketplace so there's that.

Yep, otherwise I would use my big surplus of Win store credit.

According to Brickseek, looks like one of my local Wally's has QB Timeless [PC/Steam] for $20 + Mirror's Edge Catalyst for $10.

Hopefully, QB drops to $10 soon.

Gonna have to keep an eye on those.

Bleh, my store still has them for $40. :(

QB is worth avoiding, I thought. I regret wasting my time with it.

I thought for a moment that MS actually had a really good deal on a Forza title, especially for a play anywhere title. Then I discover that 6 isn't a play anywhere title, and therefore isn't a good deal. meh.

SALE ALERT!

Almost missed this because, hey, who shops on the Windows store right? But they have some exclusives so:

Halo Wars 2 - $38.99

Gears of War 4 - $29.99

ReCore - $19.99

Quantum Break - $23.99

Gears of War Ultimate Edition for Windows 10 - $14.99

Forza Motorsports 6: Apex Premium Edition - $8.49

Unfortunately, none of the Forza Horizon 3 DLC is on sale. Sale good for another 14 hours as of this post.
Thanks for the reminder. I have a $10 Microsoft Store credit I need to use or lose by June 20th. I'll have to weigh my option when I get home.

I don't get BDO. It's this lil black blob telling me what to do.
Well, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was just a little blue blob telling you what to do, and people say it was one of the best games ever.

So, yeah.

I sunk a few hours into BDO yesterday, though I only bought the base game, so no redemption packs for me, but thanks to the holiday boost, I'm up to level 19.

I'm doing the real important stuff: making beer and fishing.
