Aside from any of this, my main point from earlier was yes I agree that this movie was overrated. and so was the Joker's performance and character. So we are in agreement.

The thing that further makes no sense is the fact that they do it for OTHER villains. Two-Face was Harvey Dent, a former district attorney, whose face was disfigured. In fact, they do it for I think almost ever other villain except The Joker. Who would be like the easiest probably to just remove his make-up or whatever. I don't mind it, mystery and all, but it makes zero sense.
That's the whole point. The other villains have identities and have much more humanistic sides. Whereas the joker is nothing more than an amalgamation of lies, deceit, and chaos just like when he explains how he got his smile/face in three different ways.

I like the DCU movies! Granted I think most movies are at least alright, except Sausage Party, that movie is fucking trash.
I found Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad entertaining. They weren't as bad as the reviews led me to expect and I didn't regret the $4/movie I spent on UV codes. They weren't good either. As I said, if WW is actually good and on the level of the Marvel stuff it will be a massive improvement.

wtf there's poop in my soup costs way too many coins. I thought for sure that'd be 250-500 coins tops.. Guessing they did it that way so it wouldn't sell out immediately but ain't no one spending 3,000 coins on dat shit.

How can one person be such a concentrated ball of wrong.
For me, those in the movie portraying Joker:

Ledger was fantastic and the best one, IMHO. Sometimes down-right hilarious, sometimes down-right scary. The way The Joker should be played, IMHO.

Nicholson was a close second. He had the over-the-top + hilarious factor down, though he never seemed down-right scary or menacing enough.

Leto didn't really get enough time on screen, so I guess he's 3rd by default. What he did, he did fine - but, not enough of him in Suicide Squad to really give him even to maybe possibly contend for a chance for 2nd place.

EDIT:

u don't like the story or just the over-done characterization?
For me, both were ridiculous (the story even more so especially in the last half-hour with that + the over-done characterization), yet still somehow entertaining. I expected A LOT worse from this movie - though, somehow still managed to like it.

Oh, and both Margot Robbie (obviously) + Will Smith stole the show.

Apparently the welfare check I thought I got for the Nvidia settlement wasn't really a check, but more of a "remember when we said you could file a claim one of two ways and everything would be cool? Well if you filed the way the that didn't involve opening your case we don't believe you now. We're giving you another chance to hassle yourself with wrangling up the right info, but here's hoping you don't because my precious little daughter needs a new beam...errrrrrrr, braces. Yeah that's it! Braces!"

Maybe Joker just represents that people can be born evil

no sob story, no fallen from grace, no "mommy didn't love me", he's just evil.
Yup, I think he's purposely made as the foil to Batman/Bruce Wayne in every single regard.

  • Batman tries to up-hold the law by usually not killing people + bringing them to jail/juistice, while Joker doesn't really care + will kill in a minute.
  • Joker's just pure evil + chaos, while Batman (even as a vigilante) really does most things still by the book.
  • Batman's pretty loyal to his loved ones (friends + family), Joker is not.
  • Batman is a "solid + rock" type of character without much personality TBH, meanwhile Joker's just exploding w/ personality & jokes.
  • Batman often attacks stealthy + in the shadows as a vigilante, while Joker is in your face + will come at you straight on w/out a care in the world. (C'mon, when does Bruce Wayne/Batman really joke around?)
  • We know who Batman is (Bruce Wayne), yet nobody knows anything of much about Joker's backstory + history.

It was just an exceptionally poorly put together film. The pacing was terrible, the editing was awful. You could tell where they spliced the jokes in because they had no place in the rest of the dialogue's pacing. Characters were plugged in with no real role or reason -- you had the Croc guy who was all "This is my world, you're just tourists" to the divers but then he didn't actually DO anything exceptional. You'd think he would be the one to place the charges after the divers couldn't or something but, nope, he was just along for the ride. Same with the other characters. The katana chick could have been written out completely and no one would have noticed. Hell, you could have even kept the six lines of dialogue referencing her; sure it could have been confusing but no more so than wondering why this ninja chick was just hanging around for no reason. Smith & Robbie gave the film what little life it had but that's not really the other actors' fault, they were just given nothing to work with. The Joker stuff felt shoehorned in just so they could go "Here's your new Joker!"

I don't usually complain about films on technical merits because most Hollywood films are passably well done so I don't really notice. But this film just felt half-assed and slapped together from opener to credits.

I disagree with a lot of what you said about The Dark Knight (just having a dark tone in a comic-book film doesn't make it an inherent contradiction), but I think you're spot-on with Suicide Squad. Margot Robbie was pretty terrific. The rest of the squad were just . . . other people. The appearance of Batman in the first part of the movie was pretty cool. Leto's Joker was just crap, and there's no way around that. There really was no point in putting him in the movie if he weren't going to have a major part in the first place, but his Joker was just awful anyway. He was an embarrassment, especially in comparison with the previous film Joker (Ledger). I think DC should have skipped this one altogether. If you want to see a good Suicide Squad movie, watch Batman: Assault on Arkham.

If you think that "Hey, let's see who this disguised terrorist-murderer that we've dedicated the entire police force (and one vigilante superhero) to capturing is" is micro-analyzing, you're giving people WAY too much credit.
I agree on that. I mean come on, villains commonly try to unmask the hero (just for shits and giggles for the most part), yet the police or the hero don't try to unmask the most notorious super villain in their entire universe?

It's probably why I've never been a huge comic nerd in general. Writing is my job, so stories that force you to suspend disbelief on major factors like that for everything to work tend to bug me a bit. If the Joker was this celestial incarnation of evil, that's one thing, but honestly he's a human psychopath. He has an identity.

Sorry, your magical thinking isn't supported by the movie itself. Hell, he loses part of his face paint in the jail scene where Batman hits him (or slams him or whatever). It comes off. Somewhere out there is a second cousin who would say "Hey, that's Larry... Jeanie's kid!" if he saw him. I know that takes part of the myth away but that's the issue when you're playing it straight.

More to it, you're insisting that the police are just like "Well, he's just like THE JOKER, man! Why would we do the bare minimum of our job in trying to identify him? Who can do it!? He's just, like, magic!" since they make zero attempt.
I was on the other side until you said this, haha. I'd be fine with him bleaching his skin and tattooing the rest of his face for the makeup effect (which would explain why he can't be "cleaned up" for a mug shot) but his makeup does come off...hmm. I was also fine with the whole idea that he's an evil genius and was able to erase every piece of evidence of his past.

But the makeup does come off...never thought about that.

There's the possibility of some cool (and violent) backstory movie about how he erased certain parts of his background in an origin movie, though. I've always loved that character since Jack Nicholson...but the makeup does come off.

...

I think this description is the perfect description of the perfect Joker. He doesn't need to be scary or menacing if he can be entirely unpredictable and capable of anything. "True uncertainty (certainty?) that anything at all could happen" should be the main feeling you get around him.

Edit: I have not seen Leto do Joker.

Yeah, see...that's also the thing: Jack wasn't really that unpredictable or anything to me, as The Joker. Jack was...mostly funny + over-the-top. Even to a point, it felt more comedic than anything. It never felt really scary to me.

On the other hand, there were a bunch of moments w/ Ledger as Joker that felt unpredictable with him & that he was truly frightening, scary, and jaw-dropping. Ledger just knew how + when to play that role for the right mood.

Saw Wonder Woman. Other than dodgy CGI and some predictable lines and events, the movie was pretty good! Just don't watch the trailer for Spider-Man Homecoming, it spoils the movie. Blargh.

Edit: You all forgot the best Joker.

Did a test on Black Desert Online.

Switched to my second Steam account and did Family Sharing.  It allowed me to make a whole new account and use Explorer's Pack rewards on that one...

Not sure if that's intended?

I saw Wonder Woman and liked it.  I thought Gadot and Pine had good chemistry and Gadot did a bang-up job going from Paradise Island to incrementally recognizing the horror of modern (well, then-modern) war.  I thought the villains were fairly weak and one of them felt especially pointless but they didn't really factor too heavily into the movie.  At no point is Wonder Woman arrested and not washed up.  I need a sword and shield for Battlefield 1 so I can charge trenches and fuck people up.

Best voice-acted/audio-only version of The Joker, for sure.

He did a heck of a job in the Arkham games + Fox animated cartoon series.

Would've been quite interesting, if someone ever would've actually cast him as The Joker in a non-animated Batman movie.

"Hey, we finally captured this insane mystery murderer we've been after and have him in custody but let's not bother to, you know, immediately wipe his face clean to help ID him or anything..."
I never really thought about it till you brought it up... I'm more shocked you didn't have issues with them having DNA, dental, and to a lesser extant fingerprint results in what is obviously a short period of time. :)

Anyhow, I don't watch the movie often but it is the one of the three Nolan movies I like the most so hopefully I won't remember these plot holes too vividly when I next watch it again.

Just finished Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, and it was fuck ing terrible.

It has possibly the worst hit detection I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with in an FPS.

The AI is anything but intelligent; you can't even call it AI, it's just pathfinding. The enemies alternate between cowering behind cover, standing stiff as a board, and rushing forward. Beautifully paired with this is a favorite of bad 90s game design-- aimbot-style, instalock accuracy.

Coupled with low-res bushes and trees that obscure everything, the jungle levels are an infuriating mess.

Most of your guns aren't worth a damn, and ammo is maddeningly scarce for those that are decent. Your squadmates are similarly worthless.

The cherry on top is the awful health system. Health packs are rarer than a night in which Bah's mom doesn't get penetrated. You can call over a guy to heal you twice a level, which doesn't always work, and you can die while being healed.

It's not a matter of being dated. This was released in the era of Far Cry, Half-Life 2, Doom 3, The Chronicles of Riddick, and other fine titles which still hold up.

A curse upon the “Comunidad en español” Steam group for helping me acquire this steaming hot basura.

He played "Trickster" on the old Flash TV series. It was a very cringe-worthy series that didn't last long. You can look it up on youtube to see his "Joker" type character.

Its "cringe worthiness" was likely more of a byproduct of the time... It was a highly regarded show that had good ratings. It was just expensive as fuck to make. (Which was its undoing.)

He also played the Trickster on the new Flash series. And the old series wasn't terrible. The special effects were, though, compared to what they can do these days. The only reason it didn't survive is that it was in the same weekly time slot as The Cosby Show and The Simpsons.

Ha figured it out...

After I went and double check on the Xbone controller working wirelessly on Windows 7/8 I saw they had added blue tooth support for the controller via Windows 10 patch.  Sometime later it dawned on me that it was my blue tooth adapter causing interference with the Xbone controller dongle.  I removed that adapter and the controller started working just like that.

I guess now at some point I need to get my controller over to that blue tooth adapter but since I've not been playing and MP games with voice chat I haven't really been using my headset/mic.

Does this have something to do with the homeless guy? Is that white and blue guy the toasters cousin?
Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hammil) is in both pictures.

About the white + blue guy - that's R2D2. Not related to THE Toaster.

Though, I'd guess THE Toaster probably could add R2 to Toaster.Net, if he felt the need to.

Anyone having trouble launching games on Steam right now? I had issues early this morning using my 360 controller, and now I get a fatal error when attempting to launch Spelunky. WTF?

When West and Zampella leave a company + franchise (i.e. they were at 2015 Inc with MOH: AA + then Infinity Ward until CoD: MW2), the quality of a franchise dropping seems to happen.

Just look at how the quality of MOH dropped after MOH:AA + how CoD really hasn't been the same since MW1+2.

Alex Desert and Amanda Pays too. I found the original Flash TV series DVD in a bargain bin at Best Buy around the holidays, so I've watched it recently. Not complete garbage as some might think. I think that, in those days, the fans didn't cry foul like they do now, nor were they heard by the studios when they did. Of course, we didn't have so many people with Internet access who had a voice then either. It adhered pretty close to the source material - it was just that the character's name was Barry Allen, but his costume and mannerisms screamed Wally West. Still, I miss the 1990s.

It gave me an Adam West's "Batman" vibe... only it was The Flash, instead.
