Alex Desert and Amanda Pays too. I found the original Flash TV series DVD in a bargain bin at Best Buy around the holidays, so I've watched it recently. Not complete garbage as some might think. I think that, in those days, the fans didn't cry foul like they do now, nor were they heard by the studios when they did. Of course, we didn't have so many people with Internet access who had a voice then either. It adhered pretty close to the source material - it was just that the character's name was Barry Allen, but his costume and mannerisms screamed Wally West. Still, I miss the 1990s.
Yep. The tone on television now is significantly different from what it was in the 90's. Although speaking of Amanda Pays, she was also in Max Headroom in the 80's which was pretty dark (and eerily close to reality decades down the road) for its time.

Are there places where you can get steam cards beside the steam market? Because I decided that I wanted to craft a Doctor Who badge now that it's no longer available on steam, but it looks the game's removal from the store has also caused it's cards (and wallpapers & emotes) to get removed from the market.

I've already tried Tremor, in case somebody was gonna suggest that. I was actually able to get most of the set there, but they were missing one card.

There's trade sites like Steam Card Exchange and even stuff like scrap.tf that you could look into. They both offer a card trading service, but you need to look at the inventories. Its going to be a tough find what you're trying to do. Places like TF2Outpost as well users will trade cards on, but generally they're almost all going to be looking to profit.

Completely unrelated but the question reminds me of when you could trade shit bought on the market immediately. There was a trade site that started a card trading service and they didnt update the prices quick enough. For a few months I would regularly go on there and Id sell the bots cards that they offered wayyy too much in return for (i.e. 4 ref for a card that plummeted in value due to bundling). This was also when keys' ref value was generally low still. I had the flu and spent 8 hours just doing that one day. I turned like $5 in wallet cash into 20 TF2 keys taking advantage of that site and over the course of a month my profit was through the roof.

I forgot about Max Headroom! I think too many people expect fantastical realism in their TV shows these days. Back in the day, you were lucky to get a halfway decent comic book movie or show. I can still watch episodes of The Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman or the Christopher Reeve Superman films and be enthralled by them. These days, people spend way too much time picking apart the CW shows and Marvel/DC Cinematic Universe films. The fact that I've gotten to see some of these characters, especially the more obscure ones, in live action in my lifetime is pretty amazing.

Yes, it was a slightly odd decision, but the show coincided with a reboot of the comic with West as The Flash, and West in the comics was probably about 10 years younger than Shipp's Barry Allen, so that may have had something to do with it (it also makes him about the same age as the new Flash-Barry Allen).

It gave me an Adam West's "Batman" vibe... only it was The Flash, instead.
I don't know how. The '60s Batman was deliberately camp and it was pretty obvious even to younger viewers (like myself) watching it in reruns. The Flash series was produced in the wake of Tim Burton's Batman and intended to have a similar tone (to the point of both having a very similar-sounding Danny Elfman theme).

Despite a couple of no shows the Bros still had 5 for BFr1day.  Despite anyone thinking they were playing particularly well I think we won 3 out of the 4 maps we played.  One map we smoked the enemy pity Blimp in about 3 or 4 minutes.  It went down faster than Fox's mom at the new truckstop on I40.  I tried to do some bitching but I just dont have it in me to spew forth the steady stream of obscenity like Bah.  Its just not "bro-ilocally" accurate without bah and syntax there.

The latest patched claimed new UI improvements that noone noticed and did some tweaking to Operations mode,  we could not get into a game and gave up after 10 mins.

Yeah, I mean, I know I played like shit yesterday. I think my top kill count was 3 and I couldn't get anything going with any class. It got so bad I reverted to sniper. But, yes, we did win 3 out of 4 so it was a fun night overall, just unsatisfying on a personal level. Much like a night with your mom.

And if you do, you probably just went through over a fifth of your monthly limit FOR A DEMO!

MERICA!

EDIT:

I just remembered one of my favorite comic "book" movies, Dick Tracy!

Can you still craft booster packs for the game? If so you could buy some sacks of gems, and use those to craft Doctor Who booster packs and keep opening until you get the one you're missing. The whole set is 9 cards so each booster pack will cost 667 gems though, and there's no guarantee you'll get the one you're missing right away.

... Aaaaaaaaaaaaactually...

The Flash TV show is from 1990, and Wally had been Flash since Barry "I'm the most boring guy in the world" Allen died in Crisis on Infinite Earths in 1985.

Wally West was MY flash. He was Flash for over 20 years. He got married. They gave him kids. So of course DC Editorial had to bring back Barry Allen and fuck all the stuff I grew up with.

fuck

DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL! Maxwell Lord was evil all along MY ASS

Edit: Whoops killed Barry ten years late

Sorry, bud, I have the comics--or did until a recent flood--to prove that a new series with Wally West started around the same time as the TV series. A little Google-fu showed that it actually started in 1987, three years earlier.

That's from Crisis on Infinite Earths. Barry Allen died, he took up the mantle. Wally not getting a series until 1987 doesn't matter.

Okay, Flash nerd, except Rebirth said that Barry was stuck in the Speed Force the whole time, instead of being dead, so . . . hasn't CAG suffered enough?

Not sure if it's possible to craft the badges, but if I end up exhausting all other options, I'll look into that. Thanks for the suggestion.

fuck those retcons. Barry Allen DIED until he was conveniently revived to undo everything that had happened since CoIE. And Infinite Crisis. And Final Crisis. And Flashpoint just got undone. And New 52 just got undone.

I hate DC Comics now, and this is why.

We all know that no one in comics ever REALLY dies or STAYS dead. Besides Bucky (and I'm pretty sure they wound up bringing him back too at some point).

Okay now I'm regretting not getting State of Derpcay YOSE for $7 since the new Humble is Derp Souls 2.  Maybe it'll be in next week's Humble weekly or whatever.

The original version never got bundled, so the chances don't seem great that YOSE will get bundled.

Jimbo, Fox and me ended up playing The Black Death tonight. It is a typical survival type game set in the Middle Ages with the main threats being The Black Plague and 99% of the other players you run into. Despite typically enjoying survival games and thinking that the concept was neat, this game did not grab my interest as much as I thought it would.

The main problem with the game for me is that there doesn't seem to be anything to do and no reason to explore the map. I managed to find a few towns on the map that were all mostly the same generic style and completely empty except for a few guards. This gave me no incentive to try and find more of them, either for special loot or just to explore, since the map seemed to be the same no matter where I was in the game. There is no reason to build a shelter or base like other survival games either.

If anyone is thinking of getting this game, I would keep an eye on it to see if more gets added since it is very early access, but for now there just isn't much to do in the game in my opinion.

Right, I suppose that's true. I'm not a comic guy, but I know that WAS a long running saying before they did actually bring him back. That was a pretty recent event.
Yeah its something like, "Only Bucky, Jason Todd, and Uncle Ben stay dead." Which if anyone is counting along you would realize we are down to only one of those being true...

Not sure how, or truth be told, when it started as Jason Todd means its post 1988 as thats when he died... And Barry Allen was dead after 1986 and would be a more noteworthy edition... Then again maybe thats why Barry Allen isn't on there as most could see why he would be resurrected and he WAS beloved by the fans as Todd was actually voted by the fans to be die as he was a whiny brat.

Anyhow, the expression was flawed back in the day (as the resurrection of two of the characters proves) and it should really have been "Only Thomas and Martha Wayne and Uncle Ben stay dead." as there deaths helped define the hero those characters are linked too and the other two were just tragic events in their lives. (Peter Parker needed his uncle's death to understand that with great power comes great responsibility and a young Bruce Wayne needed the death of his parents to dedicate himself completely and totally to his cause of justice.)

Anyhow as noted elsewhere in the thread Barry Allen was resurrected in 2008 both Bucky Barnes and Jason Todd were resurrected in 2005.

Even Captain Marvel has technically been brought back to life a couple of times and that was something no one ever should have touched.

You can/could make that argument for allot of the deaths like that in comics... but with new stories needed every month, not to mention new writers and to a lesser extant artist, I'm not sure anything should be done to change the status quo... You can only help that its done in a respectful enough manner and that it carries weight long enough to mean something (See Barry Allen, Hal Jordon) before they are resurrected.

Anyhow, since we are talking comics right now... Did anyone watch Batman and Bill on Hulu? I highly recommend it.

Well, no, for two reasons: 1) I don't have Hulu and 2) I don't understand what the big deal is. Hasn't Bill Finger always been co-credited as a creator of Batman? It feels like a retcon (to use some Foxhack terminology) to suggest otherwise.

You may hate it, but that doesn't make it any less real. Whatever "real" means in this context.

In game nerd news, I got an email from Topware Interactive this morning. The new Two Worlds II DLC and a season pass including another single-player DLC are available for pre-order at modest discounts from the Topware store. I think everyone hated it, but there's also a digital deluxe version of Raven's Cry on sale at the moment too.

For those doing budget builds, wanting 1080p gaming, and are not future-proofing on VRAMz....

Zotac 3GB GTX 1060 Mini-sized card w/ Rocket League key = $150 at Microcenter in-store only:

Still looking at one of these for the ongoing saga of my build.

No, he has not listed as a co-creater back in the day... Only Bob Kane was. I knew who Bill FInger was before the documentary. I knew of some of what he had done for/with Batman but, truth be told, I never realized how much or truly appreciated it. Batman and Bill does a good job of highlighting what he did, showing the injustices he suffered, and the fight to get Bill FInger his Byline.

Anyhow, if you ever get around to trying Hulu I suggest it. Hopefully, Hulu will release it in some other format physical or digital at some point.

Are the Two Worlds games any good or complete crap? I had seen that they were going to create new DLC for the second game, and I asked myself why.
The first was pretty bad from what I've heard... The second has issues, some serious some minor, but it does enough thing right that some people stick with it. (I think I own both but I've never played either. My backlog is extensive enough that there is better quality RPGs I should play first.)

I spent around 6 hours wondering around the demo of the first Two Worlds on 360 back in the day.

I never played either game though.

They're both quirky Euro-Skyrims, but the first one had a lot of issues, including everyone speaking in faux-Medieval English and lots of bugs. The second game was a considerable improvement and the first DLC was pretty good too. The only issue I had with II is that it got rid of one of the things I really liked about the first game: the simple crafting. I'm not a guy who's big on crafting in any context, and in TW1, you just basically put two of the same things together to make a better object; it was simple and it worked. However, I tend to be in the minority in holding this view and the second game has a more typical modern crafting system for potions, weapons, et cetera. The bottom line is that if you enjoy RPGs, you should play at least TW2 at some point, because it's really well-done. As for the timing, well, I suspect it's to help fund a possible Two Worlds III, and I'm cool with that.
