Anime & Manga Thread Vol. 2: Za Warudo!!!

Lol........well, they definitely want to make you dislike him eventually if that's how they are rolling with things. I'll have to watch the episode again but....

Didn't they dismember Arche and Entoma stole her voice at the end of this last episode? Not sure how Arche survives to be a concubine (undead or otherwise) in that case.
Arche had separate fates in each version of Overlord.

In the Web novel, she didn't die

I've mostly been rewatching favorites while waiting for the current season to finish airing. Some new ones for me:

Dimension W: Surprisingly ok. Solid action, decent story. Nothing ground breaking, but not a bad watch if you're bored.
Kino's Journey: Loved it! Various brutal tales portraying harsh realities of human nature. I would be interested in watching the original 2003 anime.
Restaurant to Another World: I can't explain why I enjoyed this so much. I'm not into the food anime genre. The stories and interactions were really fun. I hope we get a second season (assuming there is source material for it).

Got my Grimgar blu-ray from funimation a few days ago and marathoned it pretty quickly. I have to say, that show deserved 12 more episodes. It's so slow starting up that it needs that extra 12 episodes to breathe. I doubt it'll see another season, which is too bad. The best part about this set? The disc prints. They are this 3D-ish print of the city in the show. It's really cool. Ah well, maybe we'll get lucky and they'll do more in the future.

Check out Isekai Izakaya: Japanese Food From Another World. It's a newer show that's pretty much the same concept.

Like you I love food anime. They're so relaxing. Also Sweetness & Lightning if you haven't yet. Super charming and fun show.

Man, this last episode of Overlord was epic. It's going to really hurt when this season ends, they are JUST starting to ramp things up. I'll put some money down that this is all a dream that Ains is having as the final end of this series :p How hilariously cliched would that be? Haven't talked about Black Clover in a while, but that has fallen into the stereotypical shounen trap. Entertaining still, but I'm not expecting anything. It's really predictable now. What else are folks watching this season? I'm watching:

- Holmes of Kyoto

- Overlord

- Black Clover

- Stein's Gate 0

- Seven Senses of Subaru (it's average)

- How not to summon a demon lord (it's average)

- Harakuna Receive (average too)

- Grand Blue (it's average, but funny at times)

- MHA

- Persona 5 (tho I put that on pause since I'm playing the game and catching up to anime)

- Hanebado (has potential but so far average)

- AoT, which finally started to give us some damn backstory to the world

The last arc of this season is going to be epic. That is all I can say. I just look forward to Ainz wrecking in the upcoming battle

I just hope a Season 4 gets confirmed There is enough material to warrant 2 more seasons. But getting Seasons 2 and 3 were already a long shot.

You and me both. I'd be thrilled to hear about another season coming in winter.

We're pretty much watching the same stuff minus a few mediocre shows.

I'll add I'm watching Lupin, Gintama & Gundam Build Drivers. All of which are carry over from the last season.

Only one episode into :

Anglomois - Interesting historical / fictional take on a famous Japanese battle. I want to watch more when I get time.

Harukana Receive - Hanebado has my fill of cute girls playing sports this season. Might get around to it later.

Planet With - First episode was okay, but it didn't grab me. Never got around to ep2.

Dropped:

Mr Tonegawa: I really tried to like this since I love Kaiji, but this is a weird and slow show. It's really not that entertaining

Cells at Work - I know this is a popular show, but it's not for me. Got bored of the premise after 3 episodes.

Yeah I dropped Planet With also. It felt like the beginning of garbage. Cells at Work is interesting as I am following the science behind it and enjoy that aspect. However it's not particularly entertaining, so I only watch it when I have nothing better to do.

Crunchyroll France announced that Black Clover is continuing and will premiere on Crunchyroll in October:

And Hunter x Hunter is returning from hiatus on September 22nd. I'm willing to bet Togashi takes another break before the year is over though.

Considering his various breaks, I expect him to go on hiatus again a week to a month later.
Nah he's gonna pump out at least a volumes worth so he can make some money and continue the game of whether the series is finished before he or you the reader dies.

Wow....................................this episode of how to not summon a demon lord took soft core hentai to a new level. First time I've ever seen someone stick two in the pink to resolve a plot issue. Reminds me of the original Fate/stay night and how they "replenish magic"

This last episode of Overlord was totally a setup episode. We should take votes on who dies first, Barbro or the army. I vote Barbie. The next 1-2 episodes are going to be great. It seems like we'll end with the tip of the iceberg. I don't think I need to tag this, but to be on the safe side.
It feels like there's a ton of plot left...I can easily envision several seasons of conquering.

Seriously. Last episode really pushed it from being dumb innocent fan service to 3rd base stuff you don't often see. Did he really give her the shocker? Sheesh,

Does he really need the money when his wife is the creator of Sailor Moon? Lol
I didn't realize til now that Hunter x Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho were the same person. I knew the YYH creator and the SM creator were married, and that's the only reason I connected the dots.

I was catching up on ANN and read that the next SAO arc will cover the entire set of novels and have four cours. That makes me really happy. No short-cutted anime! Yay!

The Alicization Arc is the best arc outside of the initial Arc and is also the longest, with it being Volumes 9 - 18.

It surprised me to. But after a while, you kinda notice

I guess this is why How Not to Summon a Demon Lord is mediocre. It relies on bad plot design to move things forward. Earlier in the series, it illustrates that the MC can teleport to the other sub-MC's location. In this episode, he spends his entire time *running* around trying to find one of the sub-MC. Of course, it means he's too late to stop the event that leads the plot to move forward! OMG! Such amazing plotzors! I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up for average anime with a garbage premise to begin with. Why does this shit get animated over really good shows? Someone explain that to me again?

I'm a sucker for Isekai. Even though Smartphone was garbage, it was enjoyable garbage. Same with How not to Summon a Demon. But I hate these dumb long titles they seem to give these shows.

Yeah, it's the same kind of thing as with TV shows. A show doesn't necessarily have to be good if it's in a popular enough genre. For every Gunsmoke, there's a dozen westerns nobody remembers.

In Another World With My Smartphone is the bottom of the barrel of Isekai for me.

I do love my Isekai though. Overlord, Konosuba, RE:Zero, Reincarnated as a Slime, Tate no Yuusha, Arifureta are my top favs, Hachinan Tte, Mushoku Tensei, and  How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom too.

Eh, Smartphone was more like a parody to me. It's fun because it blatantly does what all other Isekai does. They just don't waste time trying to hide the deus ex machina.

I've read 5 volumes of the manga of slime. It's very OK honestly. Don't expect that much other than some alright fantasy. Just tempering expectations is all.

This latest episode of Overlord ended as I expected, but the path to the ending was very much unexpected. This show is so awesome!! I really hope they announce another cour for winter/spring after this one!

Despite giant boobs moving everywhere, Harukana Receive was ok. I kind of wish they did a beach volleyball anime that wasn't as sexualized, but that'll never happen from Japan.

However in only a few weeks we will have:

- A Certain Magical Index S3!

- Fairy Tail until the end of the original series!

- SAO: Alicization!

Don't think I missed any of the big shows. Pretty stoked though.

CR failed when it came to actually putting out the latest Overlord so I had to watch it elsewhere. I liked and didn't like this episode? It felt slow? Shallow? Cliched? I dunno. Last episode was much better. Either way, I guess we are only getting a teensy bit of story here and next episode it's quite clear what we'll get. Wish we got more for the last 2 episodes, but this is pretty much as I predicted. Oh well. Hopefully there will be a nice announcement at the end of the next episode!

Overlord realistically has enough material for another Season. But I'm under the impression we wont get another one
I unfortunately agree. "And the story goes on" is very suggestive of "go read it, we aren't going to make you any more anime". Kind of bummed. This is really one of my favorite isekai animes in a long time. Anyone have a sense of how popular it is in Japan and overseas? Curious if it's got a similar following to SAO, which would be suggestive of more anime, even if they don't announce it.
