I am not sure but I am not complaining. since you got one, were the capsules in the package still useable or did they expire

The capsules were expired, which is why the unit was on clearance. nespresso claims technically never expired since they are "hermetically sealed" yet the dates are required by the FDA.

I may not keep the unit though since I did not know at the time it uses only the DRM enabled Vertuo pods, not the pods that have been around for years. You can only buy them directly from nespresso, and of course more expensive than the classic pods.

LOTS of things at my store that have been typical clearance fodder have been getting "Repackage" or "AS-IS" labels with random percentages now, so it was probably just an occurrence like that.

Just checked BS as well, I have a store around in MN that's $65 or 75% off.

75% is such as odd number for target clearance, since the norm is 15, 30, 50, 70.

the odd thing was just last sunday, it was at the 129 price, which i felt was too high

i might have waited for it to drop lower then 65 but i figured if i took that chance it would be sold out by then and it turns out I was correct

There may be a huge push to get rid of a lot of models right now as they seem to be on sale everywhere. I found some 40% at bed bath beyond, and was told the 20% coupons stack on top too.

 
no DPCI numbers to post cause I don't have them on me but noticed a lot of the Rick and Morty merchandise is on clearance.  Specifically things like the car magnets, air fresheners, and the toys/figures.  

Also found the big Nano metal figures X-men set on clearance for $10 as well as some of the Harry Potter, Nightmare Before Christmas and Spider-man nano metal fig sets/playsets.  Short version may be worth a trip through the pop culture/nerdy stuff section in stores.

Wasn't there a way to trick DRM pods by recycling it with a refill? Either way, it's the equivalent of insta-coffee to me and won't touch those things. Fresh brew, best brew IMO.

Oh I agree. Late last year I got huge into coffee. Got an aeropress and javapresse, and starting buying only fresh roasted beans. Hand grind, weigh my beans and brew water to a specific temp, the whole ordeal. What I've found up to this point is a get tired of having to take 5 minutes every morning to weigh, hand grind, set up and do the aeropress, and then clean up too. Sometimes I just want a coffee without fuss.

I've owned a Keurig 2.0 for quite a while now and abandoned it when I got my first taste of coffee the right way. Though I never dived into the world of espresso making, which is why I chose to buy a nespresso. A lot cheaper and easier than to spend $1,000+ on a machine, plus a lot simpler too.

Ha yeah, for a no fuss morning I just get coffee at a shop. I'm no good when it comes to specialty drinks so I leave that to the experts. ;)

 
My store had an older PS4 Turtle Beach headset on sale, specifically designed to work with the PlayStation VR. It was called something 350VR, I think. It was 50% off, so $39.95 instead of the original $79.99.
 
What's the consensus on how the Nespresso tastes?  I normally buy lattes from Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts when I need a coffee fix.  I hate the taste of Keurig machines.  Would I like the Nespresso?  I probably should've asked this question before I went driving around Long Island and coming up short at 4 different locations.  Best I found were a discontinued model (Inissia) which was returned ($199), and then an opened VertuoPlus minus Aeroccino ($139).

I would say that really depends on how you enjoy espresso vs. coffee. I’m certainly no snob, but I’ve come to hate the watered-down coffee that Keurig machines produce over the last decade. With Nespresso, as long as you stick with Nespresso branded or Peet’s Coffee pods, they taste pretty good. Is it the worlds best Espresso? No, but for a quick, no fuss espresso or lungo, you can really beat it. The Aeroccino is pretty decent for what it does and it’s super helpful in whipping up specialty drinks, such as lattes, but I don’t use mine much at all as I’ve adapted to drinking espresso black over the last couple of years.

FWIW I personally wouldn’t bother with the propitiatory Vertuo machines myself.

I can let you know soon as I’m testing a dozen pods on a Vertuo plus machine this week. I too hate Keuriig cups since the coffee to water ratio and water temp cannot be controlled. I used to buy cheap pods too and man are they bad. I’ve weighed then and traditionally you want a 15:1 ratio, which is about 15g to a 250ml/oz cup of coffee. I typically do 17:1. A k-cup has maybe 5g of coffee grind in it, hence the watered down taste, since it’s literally true.

Now I don’t have experience with the Nespresso original machines and pods yet. Right now I’m using the Vertuoplus Deluxe and trying out the coffees and grand lundo so far. The pods in aluminum capsules weigh 14g, so my estimate puts it at double the amount of coffee grind compared to a k-cup, considering the aluminum vs plastic cups.

As far as taste, over the past five months I got big into fresh beans, manually grinding, weighing beans, and brewing at specific temps. No pod can compare to any of these methods. Yet it takes me about 5 minutes to manually prep and make one (8oz) cup of coffee vs 30 seconds with a Nespresso pod.
 
Went for dog food the other day and found these various electronics items & cables for 70% off...they had three different colors of each (white, teal and purple), but all of the colors had the same DPCI. One of the boxes was labeled with the wrong sticker and I didn’t pick up the charger, but they seem like decent pickups for the prices.

The financial savings sure can. $.85 a cup compared to what, $4? The store bought ones are loaded with sugar and carbs too, tons of calories. I like to control what I take in.

We have a Nespresso DeLonghi machine that uses the original pods, not the short fat ones, and I love it. Actually, I'm gonna make one right now lol.

 
Anybody from the East Coast know what the Easter clearance is starting out at this year? I'm in California, and our stores don't open for two more hours.

I'm on east coast, nyc. I didn't see any clearance yet. they closed yesterday.

Walked around Target earlier and none of the Easter products are on clearance. I saw some Target employees actually pack up certain Easter items in boxes. Unfortunately, I didn't get to ask them if they were shipping them back or not.
 
Yeah after Target puts away all of the Easter chocolate first thing Monday morning.   Same with Valentine's Day and other holidays.  I don't even go there on the day after, anymore.  I go to Walmart for the guaranteed 50% off, and there's lots of chocolate and candy to choose from.

The internet cannot convey tone so I hope people don't read the wrong...

I used to be one of those people that hoarded discount candy from target. Used to buy tons of it, stock up on the 50% and 70% off. Then during certain years I'd gain a ton of weight from it and other factors. A couple years ago I discovered 'real' chocolate, visiting some artisan places in various countries all over the world. Last year alone I spent about $250 in two weeks throughout Europe purchasing chocolates from Belgium to Switzerland. That really opened up my eyes to real chocolate. Now store candies like in the photo above don't appeal to me whatsoever as I've learned how fake they are, and that American companies barely cross the threshold on what legally can be called chocolate.

I disgres, this morning the misses and went to two local chocolatiers and picked up a little over 3lbs of chocolate during the post easter sale. Stocked up for the summer for the occasional sweet tooth since if I'm going to waste calories, it better be with some damn good chocolates. Perhaps like a wine or beer snob, I've turned to the dark side and become a 'chocolate snob'.

So much this, though. The chocolate I've gotten from trips to Switzerland basically makes American candy and chocolate inedible to me. Sounds, and probably is, douchey, but it's criminal what American companies are allowed to get away with.

It truly is and I hope more people see the truth one day. By all means people should do research and they’ll easily find out how American chocolate companies produce fake chocolates. In the US chocolate is only required to have 10% cocoa in it, yet it many other countries the minimum is 30%. It’s the same idea as tricks such as “100% chicken” where there only has to be 1% of real chicken in the product for the label to say that phrase.

I'm not really a fan of chocolate, as I am lactose intolerant, and most chocolate uses either milk, or cream. I go more for the holiday food items that get super cheap, like Oreos, and fruit flavored candy. I also go for the Easter themed blind box toys, and Pokemon card treats.

How many chocolate companies are even american though? Hershey's is the only one that comes to mind. As far as I can tell its more about trying to appeal to differing tastes and of course kids typically like sweeter things us adults do not because of taste buds and such.

Agreed on the 100% labels being bs. Like juicy juice and their 100% juice.

I should rephrase... companies selling chocolate in the US are generally selling you fake 'chocolate'. They use the legal bare minimum of cocoa which is 10%. What you are eating is milk fats and sugar with a dusting of chocolate powder. If you ever have the chance, please do try some chocolates such as Hazel Mountain in Ireland, Pierre Marcolini in France, or Chocolate Line in Belgium. Now THAT is real chocolate.
