GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

thats another thing I dont grasp, how are they going to pay the employees if they are so close to being bankrupt, because Im laid off, from a larger company than gs, and there was never once talk of paying us out of pocket, its a layoff so its unemployment
My GUESS is that a lot of these companies offering to pay their employees during their closings are hoping/expecting to get compensated by the government for maneuvers like this in the forthcoming stimulus/bail out. It's up to 1.5 trillion now, with only something like 350 million being accounted for by the 1200 checks. That's a LOT left over to go to businesses in various ways.

I just went to GameStop app and it listed the stores in my area with hours vs closed so I guess those stores we can do pick up at store?

Does GameStop even survive this?

Maybe virus was created by Nintendo and they just wanted to get at Reggie for leaving "the family"

I just checked and my closest store in Batavia Ny still has the regular hours. Others I checked have the new 12-8 hours. It's a prestige store , my guess is they haven't fully closed yet or they are a curbside store now.

Valid point. Anyone know if there's any way to get our pre orders refunded with all the stores being shut down?
Nothing is official as of yet. Especially not on a Sunday morning. Everything is rapidly changing daily, even hourly at this point. It’s just a wait and see at the moment.

Do you guys have luck using trade credit for digital codes like Xbox money online?
I did, but after 4 orders within a week my trade card now gets transaction declined...still sitting on $800 that I had planned for ps5.

The card has its balance verified without issue, so there must be a LP hold on the card (checking out as guest didn't matter) or other GS tomfoolery.

I'm more concerned that the PS5 will be delayed and/or online order only from GS...my faith in GS surviving a next gen delay or delivering an online ordered PS5 at launch are both wavering significantly.

GameStop just said during the morning conference call that any stores still open doing delivery at door, cannot accept any returns or exchanges

So if you buy something and it doesn’t work, wrong order, something incorrect, you are essentially screwed

I just went by my local GS.  Curbside only.  I had the $10 cert from animal crossing added to my account overnight.  I was able to write down my account # and the certificate code and they were able to ring up a $10 psn code inside for me.  Doing a positive survey for the employee/store now.

Wouldnt mind this curbside thing if the locator actually showed stores with only 1 of an item on hand.  Considering its been 3 weeks of this issue I doubt now would be the time their IT team is able to fix it.

I got back after they told my wife they were open, nope doors locked  and only bringing out online orders. Saw a lady get out of her car and stand there for 10 mins and they never opened the door.

I called, asked about in-store orders I might have they said they can only be fixed when they re-open. Lol who knows when that is.

Luckily I only have $5 down on Persona 5 Royal, then nothing until TLOU2 in May.

Can't imagine the clusterfudge going on right now with the big games due out next month I'm sure many people used cash etc and paid money down on FF7 and RE3 CE and now they can't get them.

Hopefully Gamestop figures a a way to fix this if doors are locked for awhile.

I you have reward coupons I suggest calling and getting them turned into points.

Yeah, this is going to really highlight how outdated GameStop is. I had an in-store pre-order for FF7 at BestBuy and just went online and changed it to shipping. If they had this they could've avoided all the cancellations from people buying games online since they couldn't get to them in stores.

BB just converted mine to curbside pickup. I'm glad I went digital on RE3.

I was able to switch My RE3 at BB to free shipping, would get digital but wanted the Steelbook. FF7 I was lucky to get the deluxe for $60 on Amazon when wario64 posted the double prime glitch last June.

gonna call to see if i can convert my AC credit into reward points especially now the nearest Gamestop to me closed in January.

good luck, been on hold for almost 3 hours so far
At this point Gamestop should just convert all unused March coupons to points automatically at the end of the month. No reason anyone should feel they have to go out and use that coupon before it expires, nor should they be required to make a 2 to 3 hour phone call to convert it to points. Its the right thing to do....but when has Gamestop ever done the right thing without their hand being forced?

I agree they should. But in my opinion it's not so much a matter of being unwilling to do the right thing.. it's being unable to. They simply do not have the competence in their website or customer service staff to pull it off under normal conditions, and especially not now.

I called my local Gamestop and the employee on the phone said I could use my pro $5 rewards for the month on any item I could add to the cart on the website for a curb-side pickup. I just tried doing that and the website says the code is not valid to use online. Go figure.

How am I supposed to get my final fantasy 7 in 2 weeks, I put $35 in credit already and need to pay off the rest but it’s all in store.
