GS FAQ

Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?
It might not be tradable or calling a store to find the value may be the only option.

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?
Yes, $500 cash minus some electronic trade ins and or $2000 trade credit in a rolling 30 day period.

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

A kind PSA reminder:

Tomorrow (3/20) is the deadline to sub to one month of PS+ for less than $10 (then expire on 4/20 lol). Those that already have PS+ can also take advantage of the promo but will have their extra month prorated depending on your current tier sub if I'm not mistaken.

Where at?

I don’t like VR, so not a big deal to me, but I read Sony is working on making PSVR2 PC compatible. They messed up and got greedy, not doing that to start. They still have a pretty big competitive advantage if they were the PC and Playstation headset, and as long as there is a market for VR, I don’t think it’s too late for them to win it if they offer that. Would probably take years to turn around at this point, but I don’t think they are dropping this as quick as the Vita, atleast not yet. They invested a lot into R & D, are the only of the big 3 game companies to do so, and there are still plenty of people with pocket books banking on VR being the future.

They shot themselves i nthe foot not trying to make this happy in the first palce along with it not being compatiable with their previous VR1 titles.

Could you imagine this connected to the Steam Deck?

Yep, as soon as I saw that, cancelled my preorder and can't see myself getting it unless it's super cheap... Like $200.
Nope. For that reason and no 3D blu-ray and no 3D YouTube my interest in PSVR2 was killed. Sony's put like the least amount of effort they could in supporting PSVR2, so it's no surprise it's struggling.

I dunno, the Portal seems like it had a lot less effort put into it. And yet, that was a hit for them.

At that price point, even a gen 1 Switch has more play value than the PSVR2 and Portal combined.

Do trade-in promotions stack with the $10 off $100 promotion? So if I was trading in towards Dragon's Dogma 2 and had another game in the purchase that made the total > $100, would I get the $10 off too?

Yes. Not really an instance of stacking since one is a trade promo and the other is purchase. Nothing would stop you from two different transactions if for some reason the system doesn't ring both correctly. You would get more pur points from doing separate transactions anyway.

Oh I'm not sure I follow. How would you get more points in separate transactions?

$10 off $100 is much less consumer predatory than the previous one. Honestly, was getting sick and tired of seeing 25OFF250 for the past several months...at least now GSAs can't sneak in "free" Pro subs.

Major trade boosts seem to roll around every three months or so. I recall August, November, and the most recent one.
Yup you'd be right but excited nontheless

That might be the dumbest corporate policy in a long line of them.
It isn't a policy, they broke something along the way and trades get flagged as refunds, for quite a while you lost points for every trade you made. They fixed how that took away points and apparently just called it good without ever addressing thr underlying issue.

Why do games suck so bad now. Wanted to use my credit on Dragons Dogma 2 but heard about the microtransactions

Retro is increasingly becoming the only way. The games industry is a bloated dumpster fire. The whole scene has turned into Vegas slot machines.

Nevermind creativity has been all dried up for the most part.

someone already told you but ill also tell you having played the first game those items are all super easy to get in game and no mtx is necessary whatsover. it's just a capcom thing they do to include them (probably to shut investors up or something) but you can completely ignore those the same way you'd ignore them in devil may cry or resident evil

This isn’t new for them. They did it on the new resident evils and devil may cry. Unlock stuff faster
This. I don't recall anybody complaining about RE4 remake doing it. The selective outrage in the games industry is strange. As long as it's something you can unlock in game and not exclusively behind a paywall it doesn't bother me.

Can you still use gamestop pro monthly rewards towards console currencies?

And if so is there a minimum amount to get it to work?

(ie can I buy a 25$ xbox card monthly and use my 5$ credit? If so can I do or online? Or does this have to be in store/ will charge me shipping?)

I know that used to be the way but there's been a lot of changes to GS

No you can't anymore. You can still use trade credit though.

That sucks

What about monthly game memberships? (ie world of warcraft or FFXIV)

I assume not?

Is there anything "efficient" you can use it on these days outside of games that are exponentially overpriced?

Is this on sale or something, or was it marked that price. That's insane. Wanted to get it during the 4 for $40 promo, but then the price went up and wasn't eligible.
At first I thought it was a mislabel since Modern Warfare 2019 on PS4 is the exact same price, but the receipt shows Modern Warfare II, roman numeral two, so clearly not a mislabel at all. "Disc: -18.00 Promotion Not Found" seems like one of those winning GS lottery tickets.

That's a manual markdown at register. it was probably incorrectly stickered and the employee corrected the mistake.

Looks like TIC cannot be used anymore (at least online) for eshop cards.
It’s been like that for months (ever since they stopped allowing GCs to purchase currency). You can only use it in store to buy game currency. I think it’s by design since the 5% off game currency for Pros is online only, lol.

I was able to use it last month (Feb 22nd) online. So maybe it was rolled out in waves.

Gamestop employees are always a peach.

I tried doing a trade in and the Gamestop associate tells me the controller ¨does not feel right to him¨. Im like, ok why dont you try the test bench? He lies and says they don´t have any (I can see the test station right behind the counter). Guy wouldn´t even give me the regional manager phone number, because it is his personal number.

I think tellgamestop.com is not a thing anymore, so is the online chat the only way to leave a ¨review¨?
