Black Friday / Cyber Monday 2024

Need Spider-Man 2 (PS5) but for less than $39.99
I don't think you can expect a Sony exclusive title in a year of very few to be less than that. Also, it just hit the one-year mark last month so $40 sounds right.

By the summer next year, we should see $29.99.

The one deal I'm looking for more than anything right now is an annual subscription discount on the Hulu / ESPN+ / Disney+ 'ad free' trio bundle.

In many years past they have offered ad-tier Hulu for either $.99 or $1.99/mo. for a year. There's never been some sweeping discount on the $25/month bundle trio, and it also went up in price this month to $28. Hope they offer something or another.

Apply for an Amex Blue Cash Everyday card. No annual fee and they give $7 back each month when you charge a Disney Bundle of $9.99 or more to it.

Wait.. the hell? Why isn't this card brought up more often when it comes to good credit cards? You're basically getting $7 off each month if you're getting the Disney bundle and pay it with this card.

Shit I might call Amex and see if they'd downgrade me from my Gold.

Probably because otherwise it doesn’t earn great points/cashback. Since it has no annual fee, it’s fine as a supplemental card.

I've had my eye on PS5 Persona 3 Reload for awhile, so I might get it for $25. Still hoping it'll go cheaper. Anyone have feedback on Second Story R? It has very good reviews, but I don't know anything about Star Ocean.

I paid for the preferred one since it's only $75 an annual fee. 6% on groceries 3% on drugstores and 3% on gas makes it worth it. The streaming perk is just icing on the cake. I've had that card for years, even though I now have a Delta and a platinum it's still a good card

Do you know when these deals went live? I just saw your post, listed 10 minutes ago. The 'sale' seems scammy as a majority of games for PS5 already show as out of stock....
Best Buy doesn't update inventory very well and it's done price drops/sales in categories where games were already oos. It's frustrating, yes. It's not "scammy," however.

bought armored core $20 and MGS collection 1 $20 and Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate $40 from best buy, says it'll be delivered tomorrow

hoping the PSN digital sale is better, none of the games I really want are on deep discount - Stellar Blade, Star Wars Outlaws, Rise of Ronin.

Of course. All the best deals in the past were on physical copies from retailers wanting to clear shelf space. Since most people don't buy physical games anymore, less copies get printed and there isn't anything to clearance. It's just like when people balked at paying more upfront for a PS3 with free online and paying more out the wazoo in the long run on subscriptions.

Not sure if this is an early BF deal, but Amazon has College Football 25 on PS5 for $29.99 after coupon. I also happened to have one of those Amazon deals with Amex to get 15% off when using at least one point towards the purchase. Surprisingly, the 15% discount applied to the full price, which knocked my price down to $22 before tax.

They’re matching Best Buy, that and Madden 25 for $30 are “doorbusters” (feels silly calling them doorbusters when Best Buy moves closer and closer to being an online-only retailer each year)…

Ah, you are correct. Sure enough, I see that Madden is also on sale at Amazon for that price. That said, it looks like you have to be a BB plus member to get that price early, or else wait until tomorrow. Now I'm going down the rabbit hole of seeing what else Amazon might be matching early....

Star ocean is tales of lite without tales ofs mutiplayer and more attack skills/spells. Mages are also borderline useless in star ocean shamefully.

It's real time party combat. If you've played the party based Ys games 7 celceta 8 etc or older tales titles destiny eternia Phantasia it's somewhat similar to those.

2 is generally the series darling to most people. It has 2 protagonists with their routes and exclusive characters (Leon mage cat for Claude's route, Renas swordsman brother Dias for hers).

You also have a party limit of 8 characters in each game. Claude and Rena are fixed as is either Bowman or Precis so that leaves you 5 slots you pick from for the others who are all optional/missable. Welch opera Ashton earnest chisato are missable. Noel and celine you'll run into during the plot and can choose to get or not.

With opera/Ashton being either or and if you recruited one you're locked out of the other. Earnest requires opera iirc and vice versa opera you have to get Earnest to keep in the party.

Star ocean has a unique skill system and item creation.

I didn't see that you mentioned Star Ocean until I read the reply to you above. I would say if you're a newcomer to the series, skip Second Story because it's a PS1-era game. (Though there is a demo for you to try for yourself.) Start right with the latest one, The Divine Force, because so many modern JRPG comforts were pioneered by this franchise. You know how in FF7 Remake, NPC conversations occur automatically while you walk by them whereas traditional JRPGs would require you go up to each NPC individually and prompt them to talk to you? This amenity began with the previous Star Ocean installment except most of the dialogue wasn't voiced since Star Ocean's budget is only a fraction of FF's. Divine Force has full voice acting.

It has a likeable cast of characters - one of the characters is voiced by the actress who plays Yuffie in FF7. The main character is played by the actor who voiced Leslie in FF7 (the guy who says "we don't need any pretty boys here" when you try to meet Don Corneo). In Divine Force, you have a device that lets you fly, which makes traveling much faster than in most JRPGs. I could talk your ear off about the series since it has so much potential and the characters and stories interest me more than many FFs.

Best Buy has Epic Mickey PS5 for $40 and the Backbone 2nd gen controller for $70. They are two things I want, but do you think they’ll go lower?

Also semi interested in college football 25 on PS5 which is currently $30 on Amazon with a coupon.

Under the radar stacking opportunity with the PayPal app. Stores like Walmart, Best Buy, and Microsoft have 5-10% back offers. Stacks with Chase Freedom credit card 5% back this quarter.

So you mean the PayPal offers? Keep in mind they are only good for 7 days after you add them and one time use. I used it last night at BB on an Ipad 10th generation. Added the PayPal offer, went through RMN for cashback and then pricematched to Costco. I have the PayPal rewards pending and the RMN cashback pending.

I want Epic Mickey but can see that hitting $20 relatively quickly so I’m holding off.

I’m old, I can remember when they used to start the day after Thanksgiving.
Heck, I remember working at a newspaper and pulling OT to stuff all the ads in. I was able to be a useful source then since I would have hands on with the BF flyers
