Target Clearance Thread XXIV

I found Advance Wars. It was on an endcap but did not have the yellow sticker. I scanned it and saw $17.99. Thank you for the heads up!

Ironically, I had preordered it as part of a B2G1, but it then got delayed because of Nintendo's hypersensitivity. Target eventually canceled my order. I am nothing if not patient, so it wound up costing them ~$24.

Do the games have to have the Yellow Clearance, or did you have all have ask a staff member to scan them to check the price?
Yellow tag, I scanned the yellow tag in the self scan and it came out as what is on the yellow tag but rise on ronin and other that was in the same area without a yellow tag ragged up full price so theres nothing hidden im guessing. Also in kinda mad I payed $25 for Ff16 when I could've gotten it $12. Anyway 1st time I seen some good clearance at target but nothing I actually want as well already have. Seems like its a nation wide thing

Hit the last store today. Had probably half the games listed but were only 30% off. Only new thing I saw was Alan Wake 2 for PS5 at 30% off $60. I picked it up since target has a crazy return policy and I'd be able to price match if it drops lower than $45 in the next 2 months. 2 of the stores I hit this week had a shitton of Sea of Stars and Fire Emblem Three Houses so I could see those been shadow dropped next.

If anyone is done with Black Myth Wukong and wants to trade for a sealed Advance Wars or Xeno 3 PM me.

I did find Advance Wars ... for $41.99. I picked it up since that's the best price I've seen, it was the last copy, and my Targets never have anything worthwhile on clearance.

Would it work to grab advance wars at that price (mine also had it for $41.xx) and then see if they lower the price further, or once they sell the final copy, they just don't bother lowering anymore? Like is it in the system getting lowered on schedule or based on inventory when they stop dropping the price?

It varies. Sometimes they scan to drop items and sometime they just drop. They also aren't supposed to adjust prices on previous purchased clearance items so that part will be ymmv as well.

Wish I didn’t have social anxiety or I would go. The gaming section is all the way in the back of the store . I feel like the walls are caving in at stores I can’t breathe .
I hope for the best for you, and I hope you don’t take this the wrong way but no one cares. You’re just a person walking through a store, for both the employees and the other shoppers, you absolutely fade into the background and they hardly even realize you’re there.

I used to get that nervousness as well wondering who’s watching me or what they’re thinking of me but then I balance it back with the realization that I couldn’t recall a single person, even ones that are by themselves, that I’ve come across while I’m out and about shopping or grabbing some lunch/dinner and I’m by myself.

Hope the best for you, just remember (in the best, most positive way) no one cares, try to live your life in a way that makes you happy.

Does Brickseek still track clearance markdowns? Or do I just have to go to every store hoping for the best? I've got another Target about 20 minutes away.

Why is it that half the people in Walmart look like they are on Meth and target seems like a parisian fashion show in comparison? They are basically selling the same stuff.

I and probably a lot of people in an old gaming forum probably have social anxiety, but wear sunglasses, do self checkout, or anything else you have to, to at least be able to go out occasionally. I know the feeling, and in my case it was always aggravated by other stressors bleeding into daily life, try to identify and curtail those if you can, I hope it works out ok.

I figure that if I happen to come across a less expensive copy, I can return this one, but I'm not holding my breath. Not the best deal, but as I said, it's the best deal I've seen for this game -- and given we're (finally) at the end of Switch's lifecycle, and Nintendo's tendency to let their lesser-known AA games fall off the face of the planet at retail (i.e., disappear), I'm fine with it at this price.

I also drove to a few Targets and found a Hori wireless Switch gamepad for $17.99 and Detective Pikachu Returns for $14.99 -- both last ones -- so IMHO, it balanced out.

Visited three targets over the weekend. One had zero markdowns, the other had almost no games at all. The third had a mix of games and some markdowns. All of the PS5 games listed were MSRP still... Resident evil 4, NFS Unbound, Visions of Mana, Helldivers, Dead Space.

Switch games that WERE 70% off were Samba de amigo, metroid prime, everybody 1/2, capcom fighting collection, nickelodean all stars 2, and advance wars 1+2. I picked up some random ones, put back AW1+2, and today that's gone.

I was able to everything listed surprisingly, except XB3. If anyone find/have a extra xenoblade 3, I'll be willing to trade.

Also adding as clearance not reported yet.
Jurassic park (ps5)
Minecraft legends complete (switch)

There was also two gaming headset, didn't get model or price. Was the top of the line ones tho.

I checked 5 Target stores near me over the weekend in the Indianapolis area. The first one I went to had a stack of clearance games on an endcap. Mostly 30 copies of Goosebumps for the Switch for $5, but they had a few others.

The next 2 stores had no clearance games. At the 4th store, they had 3 clearance games, including Advance Wars, but it was $41. And at the 5th store, they had a small stack of games that I eventually found locked in a cabinet in the photo department. Mostly Paw Patrol for Switch for $5. I did ask at one of stores where I found no clearance games, and the guy told me Advance Wars was on clearance at their store but inventory showed their copy was lost somewhere.

I have a few more stores I can try if I get to that part of the city soon. The only reason I checked so many stores is that I dropped my daughter off at a Pokemon tournament and had a few hours to kill while I waited for her to get done and pick her up. Also, the stores are only about 10 minutes away from each other.

picked up horizon forbidden west ps4 for $2.99 and persona 3 reload ps5 $24.99.

triangle strategy was still 30% off
visions of mana and helldivers 2 were still $40

Noticed that two copies of Advanced Wars randomly showed up since I checked my local store on Friday and is currently the only game on clearance. I'm guessing they scanned it when pulling it from the back and haven't got around to scanning the rest of the games yet. Still watching that single copy of Pikmin 1 & 2 that is almost certainly going to disappear immediately! 😅

Managed to find a handful, specifically:
  • Resident Evil 4 for $9
  • Hogwarts Legacy XB1 for $9
  • Sonic Superstars XB1 for $8
  • Helldivers 2 for $12
  • FF 16 for $12
  • Animal Crossing New Horizon $18
  • Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD for $18
  • Pokemon Arceus for $18
  • Pokemon Scarlet and Violet $18
  • Emio $35
Mind you, I checked a few targets, and most of these came from one, with two from another. Most did not have these clearenced yet, even though they were out in the clearance section after checking three. Going to check again today and see if my luck holds up for the ones that didn't mark them down yet.

Reporting new skus:
PKMN Scarlett + DLC: $28.49
Horizon remastered: $14.99
PKMN Violet + DLC: $6x.xx (did not purchase)
Turtle beach pro stealth wireless: 70% off from 349.

There's a few others, I'll report once I get home

After watching this thread all weekend long in envy of all y’all’s finds I finally had a chance today to go out hunting. Came home with a few (not pictured Horizon: Forbidden West which went into my GameStop trade pile). Still hoping to find Monster Hunter Collection and FF7 Rebirth.

Just checked with a manager covering at my local store. They scanned various games for me and checked upcoming markdowns... total strike out. PS5 games NFS Unbound, resident evil 4, dead space, visions of mana. All price as marked. Only upcoming price change was RE4 was going down to $20 for the ad.

While out running errands was ready to leave the store but on my way out I found the mountain of clearance games. They were mixed into the three clearance endcaps in Toys. There were single copies of Dragon Quest III, Triangle Strategy NSW, and Visions of Mana PS5. NOT A SINGLE one of them was worth buying. All the $59.99 games were marked at $41.99 (30% off). There was a copy of FF7 Rebirth on clearance!....for $48.99. Several good titles and none worth buying.

Point is, sometimes you even find the haul and it's still trash. Sale prices from 6 or 8 weeks after the game launched.

Yeah but does it matter how it scanned, I used the self one it showed the tag games being marked down and the none tagged in the same group still full price. Nothing is really hidden in my area
All that matters is what it scans at. The scanned prices are unique to the store location

These prices are totally YMMV. Some Targets are not adjusting these items at all. All indicators are that it's a discretionary clearance.

FWIW (and YMMV), but the biggest obstacle right now is finding a store in your area with said clearance prices. Once you do, there's the opportunity to possibly grab stock of said games you want from another Target with the chance to run a return/rebuy at the store with clearance prices. Did that twice this past weekend to pick up FF7 Rebirth for $21 and FF16 for $12.

After finding a store with the 70% clearance pricing (but no copies in stock), I just went to the next closest store, which had plenty of stock at higher prices. Paid there with my regular CC, then went back to the other store (the one with the lower prices) later that day and asked if there was a way to run a return/rebuy so that I could instead use my RedCard for the additional savings. Don't mention anything about the pricing difference between stores. People I had at Customer Service had no problem doing it (though again, YMMV, depending on your customer service people).

Just mentioning this option for those who are currently on the hunt for various things. Might be easier to get your various games this way right now, provided you have a store with the 70% off pricing, than if/when all stores are officially clearancing and you're fighting soccer moms looking for eBay flips after said clearance prices have hit Slickdeals.

Also, for a quicker time determining whether a store has your desired products for cheap, you can go to Brickseek and generate each game's barcode (might need a basic/free account to do this). After you've put in the DPCI and searched for said product, you should see an option on the next page where the product is shown. Screenshot the barcode(s), then use one of the customer pricing kiosks in each Target to immediately see what the various prices are. Speeds the process up versus having to search for clearance endcaps or asking associates for help at each store.

Good luck!
