GS FAQ

Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?
It might not be tradable or calling a store to find the value may be the only option.

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?
Yes, $500 cash minus some electronic trade ins and or $2000 trade credit in a rolling 30 day period.

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

This coming Sunday is a religious holiday. All retail stores are closed.

And yet the app shows my local store has hours. And Google does too although it says hours may differ due to holiday.

I suspect the app doesn't show holiday closures properly and whatever the previous poster is picking up is something different than them being actually closed for Easter Sunday.

Getting $110 for the switch lite is great.

I heard a rumor they will just give you trade credit for it because how would they apply to a preorder that doesn’t exist yet?

Anyone confirm this? Have a Lite that I am too lazy to sell but would offload for 110 at GS. What else is needed for trade-in? Just a USB-C power adapter?

Is it loopy to think Gamestop is aware of incoming price hikes for all new hardware and is offering higher than usual prices on systems to stockpile them because they'll be able to charge higher than usual prices on used systems?

My issue with that plan, if it's correct, is that Gamestop is loopy if they think demand for electronic toys will remain high when prices for everything across the board increase.

If Gamestop is banking on strong demand for new systems, that's one thing. But in the long run, if prices keep climbing, it could really hurt the resale market for used systems.

I doubt it. Xbox sales are almost nonexistent right now so a price hike will only hurt them even more. That value being so high makes no logical sense. It's just GS being GS. Like how they had a trade bump for games at the start of the year and were offering like $35 for Miles Morales when it normally goes for less than $20 used.

Sounds like a low supply issue then.

But trying to apply logic to a company that did NFTs and Crypto unironically as actual products is foolish in general.

Maybe just maybe they’re predicting a surge in console sales for GTA 6 that’s why they’re stock piling them. it’s just an idea I had.

Not going to post the list yet, as I need to verify if data is accurate, but if it is, 228 more stores closing this weekend. They all currently show being closed on Sunday on GameStop Store Locator, but I'm seen false positives like this before and then it switches back.
Hoping there are some false positives. If so, the 2nd biggest city in Montana will no longer have a Gamestop. In fact, Montana will only have 4 stores in the entire state. Sorry, I meant 4 warehouses!

I think it's just an odd Easter closing for a small portion of stores since I haven't seen other days of the week show as closed yet.

time to find series x consoles that are collecting dust on facebook marketplace, trading one in puts you $80 shy of the switch 2 mariokart bundle before taxes of course. p.s. you must be pro to get these trade values. and be sure to put a $5 preorder on a game like ‘Rune Factory Guardians Azuma’ with the credit from the console trade in during the trade in to get ANOTHER bonus, my credit came to $450 (+$5 down on rune factory) for just a dusty old 2021 xbox series x, i did have to go to walmart and use an entire can of air because gamestop staff will shake the devil out of your console to see if roaches or an obscene amount of dust comes out. they also will test and make sure the console can go online to the store, and test a physical game

kind of crazy, and I know Gamestop isnt what they used to be, but inevitably the Gamestop store experiences will go the way of Toys R Us, Kmart, Sears, Blockbuster etc.

I think they will ultimately shutter all stores and become an online only shop for a while (before the inevitable digital death). But man, I will miss the experiences of walking into a store like back in the 90s / 00s and just shopping around for games. When they die, that entire experience will go away with no replacement, similar to how the toys r us experience has gone away. sad.
The problem is they have zero expertise in online fulfillment. This stock is going to $0.

So PS5 is trading in for $380 right now? If so I'm about to get rid of one of mine.
don’t forget to pre-order at least one of those certain upcoming games as you’re trading in the console with just $5 down like rune factory guardians azuma, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, doom: the dark ages, etc for an additional $35* trade credits *$5 is tied up on the preorder

I thought the preorder bonus only applies to games and accessories, not consoles…?

i got a trade in bonus for the console for being a pro member during pro week, i got additional trade credit when i applied just $5 of the credit from the console towards a preorder of an upcoming game during the same transaction of trading in the console

so what total did you end up getting?
$455. i took a picture of the pos but it came out blurry, but here’s exactly what it says:

XB Series X <Used> -455.00
Deposit : Rune Factory Guardians Azuma S 5.00

Amount due
-450.00

p.s. do not panic when the employee says their testing system tells them to give you only $350. it will jump to $420 when they bring the barcode their testing system prints out to their normal register to do the transaction

Looks like you got a 30% boost on the console with that $5 pre-order you beautiful bastard!
(series X base trade value is 350)

Does anyone know if the $420 listed there is for just the console? like what are the trade-in criteria? Do you need to have a controller and cables with it to get that price or just the console itself will get you the $420 credit?

console, hdmi, power cord, and controller, if you’re missing something they might let you buy the missing piece off the shelf

Thank you sir. Will try to go tomorrow or Saturday

Can confirm. PS5 digital trades in for $385 with $5 pre order. Great deal. Thanks whoever posted earlier about the pre order bonus.

So tempting!

Legitimate thoughts on trading the extra PS5 slim I have for credit? Switched to a PS5 Pro and still have my slim as a backup. My biggest gripe is I have PS5 slim plates from Sony direct and cannot use them on my Pro. Plus I already have $400 in Gamestop credit, no need for the extra.

The PS5 is one of the easiest consoles to de-dustify. Just pop the sides off. If you don't have a torx to remove the fan, you can at least wipe all the dust off the grates around it. The top vents are just two long pieces that pop off, run them under kitchen faucet and let air dry. Then wipe down the rear vents on the system with a microfiber.
People should be doing this a couple times a year anyway to help keep the systems breathing properly.

Crazy they're going to try and eat the tariffs on the systems, but maybe they'll raise the prices after the "launch window." Hedging a bet the tariffs drop, perhaps.

But the accessory cost is nuts and got higher. It's basically $100+ for say of joycons after tax. The pro controller isn't far behind. Luckily the old stuff still works, but I'd be major pissed if my $100 controller got stick drift.

They can eat my whole butt on that dock pricing. Comically overpriced.

I remember back around switch launch people selling their dock on offerup. Got one for $20. It's been convenient being able to move the switch from one dock to the other seamlessly. Hopefully I can score a switch 2 dock for a reasonable price.

I got one for $40, but same. I also got a third with my used OLED.

It's super nice to be able to change screens, but $120 is a pisstaker. It should be using standard USB-C stuffs...
