Sweetness! The upcoming TARGET stores monthly catalog "GATHER AROUND" December issue reveals a $99.99 price-tag for the Nintendo DS system. You can observe the caption thru this link (scroll to pg.56 and click on the child with the blue DS) :

http://catalog.target.com/december/.../kidscatalog/flash/toycatalog/&versionnum=1.4

UPDATE: Appears to be an ad misprint, but Target stores WILL HONOR $99.99 DS price (provided that you have the December catalog on-hand or want to attempt an online print-out). For more details, look here:
http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000563069679

I was able to verify this deal using the original catalog with no hassles, but YMMV if you decide to use a print-out. Good luck and the promotion ends Dec.12.

UPDATE #2: I guess they already corrected the price for the DS on their website's online catalog, but you can still utilize the Target Guest Relations hotline number to authenticate the mis-price. It seems the promotion now ends Dec.5. Good luck.

Target was out of stock the other day, best buy wouldn't PM, so i tried CC and they gave it to me, but would only let me buy 1, so on a whim, I called Target again today to see if they had restocked, and they had, so I went down and showed them the copies and got it.

So 2 DS' for christmas from CC and Target =o)

Just got back from 2 Targets.... 1 had none and the other had about 6.

My girlfriend and I grabbed 4 of them.

2 for each of my cuzins, 1 for her brother, and one for me.

Each one came to about $95 after tax since she works at Target she got her 10% on top of the $99.99 price tag.

Thanks again OP!

Btw each Target we went to had no idea about the mistake in the winter catalog, All I did was show them my catalog that I just so happen to receive in the mail today. Time to go play some Mario Kart that I picked up earlier with the b1g1 free from KB toys.
Some of us don't have the time to go backa nd forth trying to get a dumbass Target to the price right.

So...

IT MIGHT NOT MATTER IF THE fuckING TARGET DOESN'T LISTEN ANYWAYS!!!!!!
right, well you don't have to go back and forth... you can just call before you go to make your target stop easier and work the first try... but suit yourself.
SO.... CALL THE NUMBER AND THEY WILL MAKE YOUR TARGET HONOR THIS PRICE FOR YOU!!!
Best advice in the thread! Thanks, Machikunas. I went to BB today to no avail ('no PMing a catalog' BS), so I headed to Target since I didn't really need a warranty. Supply was no problem, but the cashier was a pain since he kept insisting this was an online deal. I had him call the number, and though he continued to resist the powers that be at Target eventually put him in his place and I got the $99.99 price.

I really had no problem getting this deal working, but I'm having crappy luck with dead pixels. The first DS I picked up had 2 stuck pixels, one green and one red, the replacement one I picked up yesterday has 4 stuck pixels. Dammit! Back to Target for me.

By the way, I'm of the opinion that the DS has far more pure fun in it than any other system currently out there. I have literally not put down Metroid Prime Pinball, Mario Kart DS, or Castlevania since I picked the system up.
I'm still debating if I should get one or not. I better decide quick before they are all sold out.
I debated myself to sleep every night until I finally went and picked one up. Its a steal at $99 anyways, do yourself a favor and buy one already :)
Is 1 dead pixel really noticable? I wanna make sure I have none
A dead pixel is noticable, IMO. I had a green one on the bottom of the touch screen. I think you would know if you had one unless its black, which might be harder to notice.

I got me a DS!! I had problems PMing at Wal-Mart. They needed the dates for when the DS was $99.99. I had the scan of the ad and the website print out. Then he called Target and they said $129.99 was the price. So, I decided to go to Target myself. Noticed they got more instock (yay) then proceeded to find somebody. She offered me the credit card application, I filled it out and got approved. I showed the lady the ad and website print out, and she called a few managers. To my suprise, they pulled out the Christmas Mailer and BAM! Got the DS for $95 after taxes ($99.99- 10% for signing up for their credit card). Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Target and will visit them more often!
Is 1 dead pixel really noticable? I wanna make sure I have none
Not really. Unless you have a problem where things like that drive you nutz. A single pixel is very small. So even with 3-5 defective pixels, they will still be very tiny.

And remember people, LCD screens are expected to have dead pixels in each batch. Even the highest end screens have a margin for defective pixels, because it would cost way too much to make them with zero. And considering how these screens on the DS and PSP are cheaper to save cost.

Also, do you think Target will let me buy a silver/titanium/platinum(Whatever it is) DS and exchange it later for a different color, as long as it is sealed? One is OOS and the other has only one blue, and that will be for my cousin who wants one. I'm still not sure if I want a blue or not; I have been really eyeing that red Mario Kart DS in the bundle.

yep i notice 1 dead pixel it drives me nuts. i've returned 2 ds's cuz of dead pixels. the 2nd one i returned it was a BRIGHTTTTT green dead pixel. made me horny.

also when the ds first came out there was an article engadget did that said something along the lines of 1 dead pixel on the ds actually equals to 4 dead pixels. i forget what the reasoning was.
===

luckily a bunch of companies are stepping it up a notch and so you can return lcd monitors even if it has 1 dead pixel.

just got one in dadeland (miami), fl..... the register person noticed my catalog and changed the price before i could even showed it to him!!!
So is today (December 5) the last day to get in on this deal or was it yesterday?
It is good till the 12th.
It is good till the 12th.
The response in the Joystiq article from Target Guest Services said it was good through the 12th, but I believe the catalog says its good through the 5th, to preemptively answer questions related to the conflicting dates above.

If the catalog says the 5th, then the PM opportunities disappear after today, plus I'm sure Target will politely tell us to get lost after today, since it's not in print beyond the 5th.

Centerton Target (South Jersey) had no DS's left.

East Gate Circuit City would do it, but they needed the official ad, which I did not have.

East Gate Best Buy did it without any questions asked.

I was FINALLY able to do this deal. Good thing since it ends today. I had to have the actual catalog in hand to get it. Luckily, the catalog also contained a $10 off $100 electronics coupon that I was able to use so I got a DS for $89.99+tax. What a great deal! Time to stock up on games from KBToys and Best Buy (using the $10 off $30 coupon of course!) :D

my friend asked them and they said it was online only but he was too scared to show them the ad so he left.

he came back with my other friends and they bought 3 yesterday.

today my other friend went and htey ketp saying online only and he showed htem the printed ad and they said that it was online only and online target was different from regular target and they wouldn't let him have it.

Just got it using the scanned advertisement along with Mario Kart DS. I personally think it's a uncomfortable portable system to hold (my large hands maybe..) and am kind of disappointed with my purchase. Should have gone for a GB micro instead. =P

Anyone interested in my newly purchased and barely used DS with mario kart for $120? My grand total for both came out to $146.12. I'll take care of shipping.

Besides, I forgot to post this yesterday, but I was(also) told by a CS rep I called yesterday that it ended that day, the 5th. So either one of them got it wrong, or they decided to shorten the time considering the losses.

I called the closer Target and they said they had no DS's. So I go to the other further store and pick up two, one being blue that I had them hold for me, since it was the only blue there and my cousin wanted a blue one. I figured I would pick up an extra silver DS(all they had other the blue held for me) and if I decide to keep it I think I should be able to exchange it for a blue later, correct? Because I'm not sure if I should get a red Mario Kart DS or maybe even wait for the Metroid Hunters package(which I know they'll have) which may sport another specially painted system.

Does the Mario Kart DS actually have the two flames on it as shown in the photos from Nintendo?

And if anyone has a Mario Kart DS, how does it look with red and bottom silver contrast? Is it sleek looking? It looked nice in the photos but then I found out it had a silver colored bottom. And I don't like silver much.

I called Target Guest Relations and they said that Target will honor the price until December 12th. My friend and I are heading out to find a DS for his girlfriend later today and then maybe a DS game from Best Buy using a printed copy of that $10 off any video game $29.99 and over coupon. This will be part of his Christmas gift to her.

that is awesome i will hit this up tomorrow

My friend and Ijust got from from Target and Best Buy. They're still honoring this deal until December 12th, 2005. My friend and I showed the employees the screen of the internet price, the scan of the page from the catalag, and the article from joystiq.com and after waiting around half an hour, they gave it to us for $99.99.

However, it was a hassle. When we gave it to the cashier, he asked someone in his area. The guy said gave it to us, but then he called this girl. The bitch came and looked at the papers and went to check it out and came back. She came back and said the catalag expired on December 5th, so I told her I hand called target Guest Relations earlier today (and I did might I add) and she went to check it out again. We waited for a good 20 minutes, and even then she didn't come back. The cashier kept calling for her and eventually he went looking for her. When he came back, he said they said ok to the $99.99 price. That fucking bitch didn't have the balls to come back and say anything. We wanted the our papers as well, but I guess she decided to keep them.

Might I add, I did this because my friend wanted to buy his girlfriend a DS for Christmas, so I told him about this.

I saved my friend $40 total. $30 on the DS and $10 on Yoshi Touch & Go we got at Best Buy using the $10 off any vdeo game $29.99 and over. Girls are not worth spending full price on.

lol I don't think girls had balls to begin with, but it's all good cause you still got what you came for.
Girls are not worth spending full price on.
That's because you don't have the right one my friend

I said what I said.

It wasn't for my girlfriend, it was for my friend's girlfriend. In either case, girls are not worth spending full price on.

I just picked one up today and I dig it. It matches my red swingline stapler, though not quite as shiny. The silver is on the bottom, in your hands, so you'll never really see it while you're playing.

I just picked one up from the Target in Sunnyvale, CA (they had 4 silver ones in stock if someone in the area is looking for one). The guy didn't know anything about the ad and was very confused and kept looking at the catalog. He eventually called a guy that said that it was a misprint but they were honoring it until 12/10. I tried to use the $10 off $100 coupon, but he said that $99.99 didn't count, so I could only use the $5 off $50 coupon that came with the catalog. Would have been nice to get it for $90, but I'm not complaining about $95.

That's weird- I called Target Guest Relations yesterday and they said that it expired 12/5. Any idea who you talked to so some of us can still get in on this deal? :)

How did you guys contact the Customer Relation by email? I was gonna email them, get the actual email response, and bring it to target. If not, I'm gonna print out that article from Joystiq.com. Btw, on the december catalog website, if you click on here goto the December Catalog Terms and Conditions, it clearly states that the catalog is valid until 12/24/2005. Just thought would be of some interest to some people.
