You'd have to have been insane to start Wang today. After his last 2 starts? I dropped him to waivers on all my teams already.
You dropped him, and I picked him up.

I figure he's due for a good start any month now.

Anyways, I think I'm too far behind in too many categories for me to get the most wins in our matchup this week.

Ya, we've pretty much locked our respective categories except for wins/cg/sho. I've got 4 starters today though :whee:

Great pitching from Randy, but thank you Augie for erasing the no hitter! I still felt like they should of left him in, he was at what 73 pitches? Something like that.

God damn, Rauch is fucking useless. He sucked last season when he was traded over, and he sucks this season.

I knew trading Emilio Bonifacio for him was a mistake, but we needed help in the bullpen then.
The Mets just cannot hit with RISP. It is just crazy how many runners they leave on base each game.
yeah i hear ya on that. we are like 5-51 or something like that in 4 games. The managing was really bad today. I don't get why he let Tatis hit with a man on first and second. he could have just bunted and moved them over to 2nd and 3rd and let Omir Santos, who was crushing the ball today, get a shot at getting some runners in. I think Santos has some potential. i want to see more of him.

Manuel also tried to cover that mistake with lame excuses. No ONE bought it.

also its all on the middle of the lineup minus Delgado. Wright and Beltran must start becoming clutch because those two have left Murphy and Reyes out to dry so many times already. Wright needs to show me something at the plate. He just looks lost right now. Same with Beltran. He can hit with nobody on, no problem..but when there is anybody on base, he gets out. It is still early but and things will sort it self out but for crying out loud...is it so hard to get somebody in with teh bases loaded with no out?

Fernando Tatis has 8 sacrifice bunts in his career and only 2 since he left the Rangers in 1998. You don't let Tatis bunt in that situation, you never let Tatis bunt in that situation, you don't let Tatis bunt ever.

So you put in Castillo and let him bunt. Manual made a bad call and he should just admit that.

yep , exactly

Castillo was going in as a defensive replacement late in the game anyway. So might as well pinch hit for Tatis and then bunt. but of course manuel subbed castillo in too late for it to make any difference.

Im hoping after the start so far this season the Marlins get a little credit. Even though they got spanked by the Pirates tonight they are still a good team. It kills me when they dont get the respect they deserve. Now I just hope they can keep it up the rest of the season.

The Marlins are good. I just don't know how good for the whole season. I sure obviously know they play really good spoilers. I think they still some pitching beyond Johnson and Sanchez....and i don't know if Hermida is a good choice at OF. He has some skills but i worry about his offense.

Any team can have a fast start but fall. Cincy and KC had ridiculous fast starts but tumble behind at the end. But the fish look like they will be a poor man's Rays team of the National League.

obviously im hoping they will falter but that takes nothing away from how good i think the marlins will be.
I think they still some pitching beyond Johnson and Sanchez.
Agreed, Im not a fan of Ricky Nolasco at all. Im hoping if they are still on a roll toward the trade deadline that maybe this year they will make some moves to bring some guys in, instead of moves that only help other teams. Hopefully with the new stadium coming out the office will be committed to winning for a change.

Florida doesn't notice the Marlins, how can you expect the rest of the country to notice them.

And the bullpen blows another game for the Diamondbacks. I swear we have the worst bullpen this season.

And it always happens when the rest of the team brings the bats, against lefties no less.

Predictably, Rauch gets knocked for a 2 run HR by Helton. HEY RAUCH STOP THROWING BELT HIGH FASTBALLS!

haha feel the pain. Me and Lando had to suffer with what i feel is the worst pen in the majors last year. rauch reminds me of Heilman.

We also dropped a game due UTTER SLOPPINESS!!!!!!

Beltran.....SLIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Murphy just a simple slip. I can't get on him for that. He has been playing well everyday and making 2 mistakes as a rook is ok in my book.

But holy shit, Oliver Perez needs to get his act together. Once he got paid, he sucks now! I am starting to regret not going after Lowe. I don't know how much longer i can take this jekyl and hyde act. one day he is truly AMAZIN, and then the next start he is far from it. I just hope this is just a normal Met April where they always start off slow and May treats us a little better.

You know what you get with Perez. A good start, a bad start, a good start a bad start, maybe a couple good and then another bad. That's just him. Plus you cannot put it all on Perez. The offense didn't feel like hitting after the fifth.

yeah thats true. im just going to take it where this is just another slow april for us and business should be moving later in the season.

FINALLY, the D-backs get Haren a win. Counting the game today, he has a 1.38 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 26 SO, yet he is 1-3. He never seems to get any run support.

Past 5 starts by Giants pitchers...

Randy Johnson: 0 Runs
Teh Franchise: 0 Runs
Johnathan Sanchez: 0 Runs
Matt Cain: 2 Runs
Barry Zero: 0 Runs

Good god....that's FILTHY
Way to go Mets and Cubs. Nice job taking the night off offensively...
And today apparently too. If only the Reds could stay playing like this throughout the season, that'd be nice.

Hopefully the Red Sox can stay hot and take 2 of 3 from the Yankees this weekend.

yeah the reds are looking good...but hopefully Dusty gives those kids a chance.

Well no surprise today. mets lose again but the offense finally woke up. Just the pitching again was god awful. Collectivley, as a team they sucked..but if i have to point fingers its the pitching. Its been bad the last 4 and now we have the 2nd worst era in the NL. oh man, what was supposed to be our strength is now our biggest weakness. Heart-broken even though its early in the season lol.

Brad Pitt and Demitri Martin?

Way to fuck up big time, y'all. Big fuckin' Time.

I loved the book Moneyball, but don't want anything to do with this tripe.
im all for field of dreams and bull durham like baseball movies but really? how can this be an exciting movie to watch. Might as well create a movie on the downfall of steve phillips. that would be more exciting.

Nice come back for the Sox. I would like to see a sweep to extend this wondeful streak.
But damn does Papi suck this year or what?

Yikes, just an ugly game all around for the D-backs against the Giants today. Not to take anything from Lincecum, he pitched really well as usual.

What did I say about Rauch? This game isn't close, but he has done this in close games and blown leads.

Edit: Holy crap he pitched an inning without giving up a run! It's a miracle!

An ugly game overall today against the Giants. It's sad when Doug Davis is the only one to get an RBI!

He's making progress, taking it the other way with regularity again. He'll be fine.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? This game should be 3-0... well more than that, 7 LOB already at the top of the 5th, get some fucking hits already D-backs damn.

Edit: And then leaving Scherzer to get knocked for 4 runs when he is clearly tired? Ugh.

Good lord the Cubs are heading into the tank at record speeds this season. Today's loss puts us 4 games back already! Averaging two runs per game with the bats in that lineup is unacceptable!

Sounds like the Diamondbacks... although, they don't have those bats like the Cubs do. So lets see who will win out in a competition of mediocrity this Monday!

I think all three of us are in teh same spot. D-Back,Mets, and Cubs are all having the Same troubles. No Run support, spotty pitching, and inconsistent offenses. Boy do our teams love ugly starts.

i can get really angry at times but i remain optimistic. But Holy hell of satan, WTF happend today! it's like the mets never showed up for the game. Oliver Perez again!, gives us another crapfested outting, Bats were quite, Murphy misplays another line drive, Beltran made a base runner mistake, David Wright just doesn't look right. we deserve to sit in fourth right now because the team just sucks. again hopefully The Mets will pick it up and stay consistent especially through september.

I dont think the last week could have been any worse. The hitters arent hitting, the pitchers arent pitching. Bullpen is horrible now. I dunno if Florida got cursed on the way from Washington to Pittsburgh but damn. Six straight losses is just unbelievable.

Yep. Overall the Cubs have gotten pretty good starting pitching. During their losing streak their games were still very close going into the seventh inning. It's been absolutely no run support and then all of the sudden in the seventh or eighth the game gets blown wide open by the pen and goes from like 2-1 to 8-1. A-Ram is banged up, of course Milton Bradley is hurt, D Lee went down with an injury yesterday, and Soto hasn't gotten it going yet. Surprisingly the one guy that has been fairly consistent is Kosuke. I thought for sure he was going to be a bust after the rancid second half he had last year.
Anyone see Ellsbury's straight steal of home during the Sox/Yankees game? Man, that was awesome. Nice to see them sweep the Yankees, too.
It was a surreal moment. Just watching the game and all of a sudden Miller yells out, "Ellsbury's stealing home."

The crowd made him come out for a curtain call.

Crazy to think that this has now happened to Pettite twice in his career.

Sounds way too familiar, although starting pitching has been a little spotty since Webb is on the DL. But basically there will be little run support, then we go to the bullpen and the opposite team blows the game open and gets like 3 or 4 runs in one inning and that is the ball game.

So the talk now is if Oliver continues to struggle he might be moved to the bullpen for now or even down to AAA. This is the guy i said I would rather have than Lowe because he is a lefty, he is younger, and he has so much talent. What a waste he is. I don't know if the WBC has affected him, or if he got a decent contract and he doesn't care, or he doesn't respect the coaching staff. Right now he is not even giving us the Good/Bad Ollie, it's just the bad. Manuel needs to make a change somewhere soon.

At first when I heard the call, I thought he was out of his mind. I thought, that can't be right, did Joe tell him to say something random? Then I was amazed and that really brought the game to life for the Sox.

How could Posada not see him coming, until the last second, with a left-handed batter? That was nuts.

Perfect time to try it, lefthander in a full windup who is very slow to the plate, 3rd baseman is at short in the shift. Posada had no idea but I'm not sure he could've done anything about it.

Lilly with a hit.

Sorry man, but I kind of figured that would happen sooner or later. Marlins have some good players, but not that good.

who knows what happen to Ollie. I think his commitment is an issue. He showed up to Spring Training 20 pounds overweight, did not even attempt to try and improve his sloppy delivery and he retained nothing Warthen taught him. I think he cared too much about getting paid and not improving himself. He has tremendous stuff when the green light is on, but when it shows red, it is all downhill. he should have at least worked on his mechanics...but he did nothing! that is what's pissing me off the most about him. He now is learning that he needs to improve. Didn't the past two years tell him something? If it takes him getting sent down to triple A than so be it. I hope it tells him and everyone else on the roster that they better pick up or be prepared to get shipped out..well at least the Non-core players..since i doubt Wright,Beltran,Reyes, and Delgado would go anywhere.

anyway Good win and great start from Maine tonight. Thats how i want to see him pitch. His delivery and control were spot on tonight. He dealt with the Walks and got through to the 6 and than green, putz, and k'rod shut em down. This is the way the mets need to win. oh and I am loving the energy from Omir Santos. This kid plays hard and gets it done with his pitchers. I hope the Mets keep him.

Now im worried about Castillo and Delgado. Both are now injured but i do not know how long and they are both hitting well. let's see in the rest of this series if Tatis and Cora can fill in.

If only Wakefield and his defense could be so on point the rest of the season. I swear he could pitch into his mid 50's.
