if the xbox 360 really is supporting 1080i then i guess i dont need 720p tv
i really didnt see much difference in Enter the matrix though even in 1080i
Looks like the Xbox 360 will support both 720p and 1080i standard, so no more worries about this TV. I was afraid that 720p would be the standard, and I'd have to run everything in 480p. This is great news.

8ball the 4:3 ratio on this TV is 25 1/2" diagonal so 5 more inches could be nice
I had a sony 24" triniton wega before this one, great for the 5 years or so i had it
but it was time for an upgrade

and watching widescreen movies in progressive scan without the bars is the best thing about the tv IMO
does this tv have pic in pic? I always wanted a TV with that ::crosses fingers::
No.

any suggestions B&M for a High def pack for PS2? or an Xbox one(thinking bout getting the intect high def pack for xbox with the 20% off)

anybody hear anything about this intect?

i think u should get the official ones for the xbox, high def pack, i got those ones with my phatom dust rebate, so basically 20$ for phatom dust/xbox high def pack great deal IMO

i dont know much bout component cables, but make sure they have 24k gold ends, the nickel ones aren't posed to be as good, and dont buy monster cables cuz they are a rip off for the same thing just paying for the brand

the TV is 35 inches wide and 25 inches deep so hope u got a big stand for it

if u need component cables i can sell u some for 13$ shipped, brand new, 24k gold ends these ones are for dvd players not for game systems 6' long, i have 2 of em($22 shipped both)

good luck with ur purchase and if all goes well u wont regret buying this TV

can no longer find the tv that i ordered listed on their site..... I ordered friday at around 3 am..... should i be paranoid that it still says processing?
Will the Xbox 360 be compatible with this TV? Will it display 720p or 1080 for the next gen games?
Yeah, the TV supports 480p and 1080i. No 720p, though.
Yeah, the TV supports 480p and 1080i. No 720p, though.
Thanks again mmn for the info. Most games for the xbox are going to be both(fingers crossed) 720p and 1080 right? If I'm not mistaken I thought thats what I read somewhere. If I'm wrong please let me know because the next gen was one of the big reasons I purchased this set.

no, it disappears all the time after it sells out. It may come back on the site and it might not . Your order though, should be fine. You may want to check the "my account" tab and see if it has shipped.

You are sir, are correct. They will all support widescreen 16:9 and 720p and 1080i
so your golden.

Not always so. The Xbox HiDef are good but not great cables. They dont always work best for the person due to the situation.
i dont know much bout component cables, but make sure they have 24k gold ends, the nickel ones aren't posed to be as good, and dont buy monster cables cuz they are a rip off for the same thing just paying for the brand
Gold is a better conductor usually so it tends to equal a better cable. Notice "tends". Many places now throw on gold (or gold LOOKING ends) on absolute crap cable and charge gold money for it. Test first. Know what youre buying.

And yeah, monster is highly overrated. Id say only 1-3% of the HiDef public would be able to tell a difference. (hardcore HTheater guys mostly)

Hell yeah, thank you!! Now I'm breathing a big sigh of relief. Woooooo!!

I wondr if I should be worried, I purchased the TV friday morning at 2 or 3 am in the morning, and still is processing, and TV has been taking off the site saturday? shoul;d my TV have already shipped?(n ot sure if Saturday a buisness day for them

mines still said it was processing after it shipped
check ur credit card and see if its been charged
if so, then call philips and ask for a tracking #

i emailed philips instead of calling them for a tracking# and they got back to me the next week when the TV was already sitting in the warehouse ready to deliver

i dont think u got much to worry about, and i dont think the deal is dead
same thing happened last time and it came back

Calm down man. You'll get the email when it ships. Take it easy.
for those of you who want to adjust your TV color ,contrast, ETC.. but are clueless just bust out your copy of X-men on DVD it has a setup guide in the options menu it worked real well for me as i didnt know what every thing adjusted exactly hope this helps CAGers
Any other DVD's have this option? I have Xmen 1.5 DVD
any dvd with the THX logo on any part of the DVD

isnt too great for me cuz i cant tell the difference between shades of white
any recent examples?
Any other DVD's have this option? I have Xmen 1.5 DVD
X-Men 1.5 has it as well, no reason why it shouldn't. It's on the first disc, under Special Features. But...like greyzieoriental said, it won't be a huge help if you're bad with colors and shades of white (like I am). Also, I remember reading somewhere that the THX Optimizers are actually title-specific, so and X-Men Optimizer would make X-Men look better, while a Star Wars disc might make you change your TV settings to make Star Wars look better. Although, it is better than nothing, of course.

For a list of all THX DVD's, http://www.thx.com/mod/products/dvd/dvdFind.html . You can select Region 1- USA and Canada from the drop-down menu and then click on the Search button to narrow it down to R1 titles only.

Video Audio Specialist came and picked up my TV 2day to get the CVI adn AV3 S-Video fixed
nice ppl(cept i hate when ppl dont know how to take off their shoes), i was actually expecting them to take a look at it and order parts then fix it here, but they took my TV and now i got my little TV back in my room(damn its small)all i can say is once u replace your small TV, u wont miss it, and if u put the small tv back in its place it looks horrible

dont know how long they'll take to fix it but they said no more than 2 weeks, so hopefully it does get fixed by then and i can get my tv back, now i see the difference of composite and component

thats what u r posed to get everyone has gotten it, call them 2morrow like i said man
get ur delivery tracking # then u can tracking it for a week and call eagle yourself when it arrives in their warehouse or whatever, and tell them when to ship it

i hope ur strong or have someone to help u carry your TV, u can even tell them to help u if u want, i would also ask them to stay until u checked the whole TV out, get all ur shit ready, get something with s-video,composites, and component cables
be sure to make sure shit works, or u'll have to do what i did and go back to ur old tv for 2 weeks, and make sure u have the correct controller

also if u dont wanna dispose of the box urself, tell them to take it for u, i have to sit in the garage cutting that big ass box up for like 15 mins so the garbage man would have it easier

basically tell the de,livery guy to relax and grab a cold one while i try everything out on the TV? The thing is that PDF file makes no since their is nothing but numbers and letters. Ohh and I live in Virginia, and I believe the philip place is in atlanta georgia, wonder if i will have it by thursday?

hmmm how heavy is this TV? I weigh about 148 pounds 5"8, think I can handle it? dont worry my Girlfriend says I have big muscles, and what happen if I cant get anyone to help me? does that shyt stay on the purch? or do they maske u come to their delivery truck and get it?

Well basically it doesn't matter how big you if the box is huge and you can't grab it firmly. I think the deliver will help you place it where need be as long as you don't get an jerk.

the tv is about 125lbs around there, hell no u cant handle it unless u wanna scoot it across the floor picking one side up and moving it then the other side up and repeat

they should bring it in ur house for u, the ppl cut the box in my garage and brought it through the front door, no way the box can fit through ur door, unless u got a sliding glass door, i dont remember where it ships from, FL maybe? but i live in the west coast and it took a week so u'll definitely get it sooner, and it might sit in the eagle office if they dont call u, mines did for 3 days without a call

they will schedule a time to deliver it so make sure u aint working when u tell them when to drop it off

and 1080p for the ps3 what does this mean to this tv?

Doesnt support it , only the new tvs that are comming out this year support it. the tv you guys are getting is 1080i which is beauutiful for a game system no matter what. 1080p I could only imagine would be much smoother and absolutely no artifacts and such .

I'd recommend keeping that box in case something goes wrong with the television. I've still got the box from the 65" I bought a few weeks ago and plan on keeping it for at least 2 months.

1080p is only on TV's that cost an astronomical amount of money, like the ones Sony makes. Very few games will actually support that... Barely any games supported 1080i on Xbox, it should be right around that amount.

Update on my 32 4:3 TV purchase :

Just got finished setting the TV up. Its real nice but has a few issues. First off, the picture "jumps" every now and again when it seems to be refreshing the image. I think its an overscan problem. Second, the damn geometry is goofy on it like on every CRT I've ever seen. Those problems will be solved when I get a Philips tech support guy out here to get into the service menu and fix it for me.

One problem that can't be fixed is the input channel for 480p/1080i will ONLY show progressive scan stuff. So that means if I have an Xbox game that isn't in progressive scan I have to physically unplug the cables and replug them into a different input. Its not a HUGE issue but it is an annoyance. One of those things that happens when you try to cheapskate your way into an HDTV.

Other than that, the set is beautiful. Looks brand new. Its heavy as hell though. The 480p imagine is beyond impressive when playing an Xbox game.

Once I get the tech to fix the minor problems I have I think this TV will have been worth the money.

Dammit, I've been checking this link for almost a month now and it's always out of stock. To all who have purchased this TV, does it tend to restock at random times throughout the day, or is it more like after midnight for the next day?

lol and you are 100 percent correct the only types of tv that supports 1080p and "affordable" would be some of the newer DLPs from samsung . Heres hoping for some price drops next year.

mine came back in stock around 2-3 am eastern time

Are there any 42inch widescreen tube televisions? And what's the screen measurement from top to bottom for a 30in widescreen? Is it comparable to a 20 inch standard tv?

restocks at random, so u must not be checking at hard at 8ball did, since i dont think he's been doing it for a month

mines came at like 2am pacific time

also if u guys dont have component outputu for the cube, i sent mines into nintendo for a refurbished one with the digital output
they pay for fedex shipping for u and the refurb comes with a new 1 yr warranty
just incase some ppls warranties might be going out or something or u need a refurb with digital av out

stupid gamecrazy story 2day:
i went to gamecrazy and asked if they had marvel v capcom 2 on dreamcast and he was like no way are u crazy, and then hes like the only way ur gonna get that is on ebay for 150$ and i was like sure, i said the xbox version sells for 50$ and hes like well the dreamcast version is perfect, and we even have a place to call to request games and if i called them and told them u wanted that game they literally laugh at me, and then i said well i didnt ask for u to tell me how muc its worth or cost, i asked if u had it and i know its rare, i was just asking, then hes like just about any capcom fighting games u wont find anywhere, then i asked him if RE2 on cube was republished, he said no way those are rare u wont find it anywhere, then i told him there was some at frys, then he pointed out a little kid behind me and was like if u want anything rare its those ppl that come in not knowing what they have and sell it to us for 2$ just for a new game. i think that guy is a ignorant asshole, but he works there so i had to deal with him, he also made fun of his asian employee, glad i didnt ask him about next gen systems, kinda wanted to test his knowledge, i dont like employees/managers that know nothing about games but works in a gamestore, unless they are hot gurls(rare), kinda pissed more cuz i applied there and got an interview but wasnt hired cuz i didnt know about old school nintendo games, complete BS then next week a new employee is hire that knows jack shit

Another update :

A guy from "Frank's TV" came out to my house and determined the TV is going to need to be taken in for repairs and Philips might have to send me a new TV altogether. Apparently there's something wrong with the voltage on the horizontal axis which is causing the bottom of my screen to "flicker" when the image on the TV changes rapidly (like from a bright blue color immediately to a yellow color).

I hope this all works out so I didn't waste $500 on this damn thing.

my tv was fixed by audio video specialist in 4 days, but will take til there next business day to deliver it back to my house

i feel bad for the ppl who have to send their tv back to philips for repair or anywhere that is gonna take longer than 2 weeks, i know having my old tv back in my room for just these 4 days sux really bad ones a nice tv was once there

also got my refurb cube back with new 1 yr warranty, 2 days to get to nintendo, 2 days for them to send me a refurb, i was expecting to be cubeless for 2 weeks

and goodluck 2 u mmn, i'm sure they'll refund ur money if it doesnt work out, but philips has been pretty good IMO, so i'm sure everything will go right
