I'm considering picking up one or the other because basically, I'm too damn lazy to make CAWs for SD '08 and Fire Pro...Max is cheaper so I'd give the nod to that, but really I'd rather get the best one for what I need. Anyone know anything about them?
I'd go with Evo.
Yea, I was still kinda wanting that one too, but my wallet is telling me to "just say no" :( lol

But you'll be happy after you've used it to download 500 edited wrestlers, some ring logos, and other stuff.

I'd go for EVO as well, that little USB drive is a real time saver when it comes to updating codelists and saves. And for Svr and Fire pro your going to be doing alot of it.

Plus you can play MP3s, videos and Genesis games with it

The evo is better than what I have right now. I have a thing called a sharkport. I have to hook a usb cable from my pc to my ps2 and then insert a disc into my ps2 and use software on my computer to transfer. Its really a pain in the ass and I will be getting an evo eventually.

After much debate, I decided to get the EVO. I mean, I'm a wrestling mark, have been for 24 years, so with TWO games coming out in Nov., I figured the time saver was better. I mean, I can remember looking up codes on my old webtv, watching tv (it was one with PIP), and using a little tv to program the formulas into...and boy did that suck lol. I seen a LOT of awesome looking CAWS for FPR, so I'm really hoping it's close to the same (if not identical) to the Japanese version. (those Demolition Caws I seen had me drooling all night) I can't figure out how to play the Genesis games, but I'm psyched over having it now. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

You can download roms or something and create a disc with roms on a CD-R, using the Max Media Creator software. Only Genesis, but I still can't get it to work so IDK.

Its kind of weird, you download your genesis roms to a folder, add that folder in the max media creator software. Now in the MMC software there should be a little option somewhere on the side that says something like "Add Emulator" you click that and then burn your CD.

After that its as easy as going into the media option on the EVO menu and hit play. Its kind of a hassle but atleast you can put almost all the genesis games on one CD. Those sega collections aint got shit on that!

I tried to do that myself, but I couldn't get a drive to use or something like that...i dunno...now i can't get any saves to work! well time for less talky and more worky!

I am starting to think that I need to invest in one of these devices.. if the EVO is best, then I'd too go for that one... now, fellow CAGs, whats the best deal on this thing that you konw of? $30 on Target/amaon... about the same as Buy + GCO...

One more question, is it possible to transfer PS2 data with an USB thumb drive directly?

What does the 'Evo' have that the regular MAX doesnt? Does EVO mean the one that comes with the thumb drive? If so, you can use any small thumb drive with the MAX software. I know that 256mb and under works just fine.

Bingo. The EVO is just a MAX with a 16MB USB drive included. The only reason I could see to get an EVO is if you don't have a USB drive or if you're not sure if your USB drive will work with the PS2.

As for the Code Breaker, I believe that the USB drive function will only work on phat PS2s and the launch Slim PS2s, as the latest Slim PS2s use a different USB port that CB doesn't recognize (I'll need to dredge up the exact PS2 model numbers, it was in a CB topic on this board sometime back). Then again, I think a lot of the reports came from CB 9.0, I don't know if the USB function was restored in version 10.0

For those who already have a Code Breaker (like myself), there is a nifty little program out there called PS2SaveBuilder that allows conversion between the different save formats, including the MAX and CB. I believe that the latest version is 0.8.

FYI, I just picked up a Codebreaker version 10.0 last night from Gamestop with a 10% off coupon. It's $20 before the coupon. I'm not sure why you say that cheats stopped with Odin Sphere, refused - I checked and downloaded some new games and even very new games showed up, for example, DDR Supernova 2. They claim that new games will have cheats on "Day 1".

I really like the network update feature in Codebreaker. It works great. I haven't tried a flash drive yet, but the option is there in the menus. I will test it out when I get a chance. I have Action Replay on the Gamecube and I have to say that Codebreaker's interface seems much better. Action Replay on GC is very flaky/hackish, whereas Codebreaker seems very solid. So far I'm impressed with it. I'm using it on a slim PS2. Not sure of the model number (I bought it used.)

I have a question... if I got Codebreaker 10.0 could I use my pen drive as a memory card? Or would I have to transfer from pen drive to mem card first?

You have to transfer the saves to a mem card.

well they dont have Persona 3 or Willd Arms 5 or.hack GU VOL 3

i think all the cheat cds stopped updated their codelist now
Hey guys, should I get an EVO/MAX or a Codebreaker 10? I have a fairly (not sure if launch model) Slim PS2.
Found the topic, but as a reminder, the topic is pretty old and discussed CodeBreaker 9.0, I'm not sure if this applies to Codebreaker 10.0.

The problem Slim PS2s have the serial number SCPH-75001 (750-series) and above, while the good Slims have a serial number below 75001, e.g. SCPH-70012 (700-series).

Thanks. Well, it seems like I have a 75001 PS2 so I guess CB is out of the question.

So AR Max = EVO? If so I should just get a MAX?

If you have a thumb drive thats 512mb or smaller just get the AR MAX. If not, get the EVO as it comes with a tiny thumbdrive (16mb).

Maybe they haven't figured out a way to hack the games yet. There's lots of new games in the Codebreaker download section.

If Codebreaker doesn't work on slim PS2s... then I don't think I'll buy one then. :( There's no way I'm using an Action Replay, I've heard horror stories about it.

I have a slim PS2 and use codebreaker without problems. I haven't, however, tried using a flash drive to load cheats. I think that's the part that may or may not work. I've only updated via the network, and that works great. I don't have a 512 MB or smaller flashdrive. I do have a smaller MicroSD card that I could try plugging in via a card reader, but I'm not sure if that is suppose to work or not.
