Alien Anthology [Blu-ray] $97.99 Amazon
I'm going to hold out to see what the production quality is on this set. From the video on the link you posted it looks like unless it is changed the discs are all in a nice case and slide out from under the egg.
"And for those of you who may have worried that any of the films will suffer the same DNR-ed fate as the recent Predator Blu-ray, I've heard from multiple sources directly involved now that such fears are unnecessary. All four films have been given brand new HD transfers and the masters reportedly look fantastic. In fact, we've been told that when James Cameron viewed and approved the new Aliens master (Aliens being the most troublesome looking film of the series in the past quality-wise), he was VERY pleased with the results. We'll have more on this set in the days and weeks ahead."

I love Aliens, but I already have the quad on DVD and don't see much of a reason to upgrade, especially at this price. Especially since I only really care about the first two movies. 3 was such garbage, and if you watch all the special features on the quad boxset you learn how much everyone hated it and how mismanaged it was. Resurrection was okay, I was glad they made it as it god rid of the bad taste of Alien3.

Right now if you preorder from Amazon UK, the Alien blu boxset comes to $55 usd shipped to the USA. Looks like he has all of the same special features. Now the real question will be if the disc are region locked, and are the special video features in HD or PAL?

So the Egg does not come with the Amazon preorder ... it's a Special Edition via Fox Connect and retails for $199. Right now you can grab it for $149 and no shipping ... kinda steep but it's supposed to be a worldwide run of 5,000 total.

If it really is only 5,000, does anyone else think it's worth ordering? I placed an order but may cancel ... debating ...

The egg is cool, but the steep price keeps me from buying this. I'll stick with my special edition laserdiscs for now. So far, the best boxset I've seen was the Planet Of The Apes Caesar head packaging with all the original films/remake/cartoon/tv show/and tons of special features on DVD - now that was a deal. Got it for $100 off Amazon.

I'm going to order for right now in case the price goes up and just wait on further information regarding the UK release
I have a feeling that is just a hunch, nothing conclusive, but I suppose these won't be amazing transfers. They will be great steps up from the DVD, but that's not that surprising.

Worth 100 dollars for four movies though? That is a bit of a killer in terms of price... brings me back to the heyday of DVDs when it was like this. I sincerely hope this drops to a more manageable price in the future.
Call your hunch wrong.

As I expected, everyone jumped to crazy conclusions, especially on Aliens without even giving them the benefit of the doubt.

See screen caps here.

At least they didn't package the Alien vs. Predator movies and try to claim they're part of the franchise too. I wonder how much this box set will cost when Ridley Scott's two Alien prequels get added to it.

I really, really like Ridley Scott as a director, and I really, really want to see him return to the Alien series and make his planned prequels. But he has directed 21 movies in 31 years, and has something over 30 movies planned. It does seem like Alien prequels are a little more of a reality than a lot of his past planned projects but many of those have had scripts, screenwriters and actors attached and just go into the abyss of delays until I can only assume Scott loses his interest in them. But again, I really hope they happen and they seem more a reality than most but I won't let myself get excited yet.
