All Official PS2 Cases the Same?

I do a lot of trading on Goozex and a lot of times I get a PS2 game in a generic looking case with no slot for the memory card. The few times I mentioned it in feedback (possitive, mind you) I get a message from them claiming that it was the case they bought the game in 5 years ago, etc. Now I feel bad because maybe I'm wrong. Can anyone shed light on this? Are they any official PS2 cases without the memory card holder?

Yes. The launch games were generic cases. Everything after 2000 should be in a PS2 case unless it's swapped.

Hmm thats kind of fishy because every PS2 game I have purchased since launch mind you not exactly launch but the june following the November Launch have been in cases with memory card holders.. When I got my PS2 I purchased it with : The Bouncer, Street Fighter, and I got Kessen which all came with memory card holding cases.....

Interesting if true since the most recent game I got with a generic case was Tekken Tag Tournament.

Yeah, he's right. I bought my ps2 at launch and bought, Tekken Tag, The Bouncer, SSX, and Onimusha. None of them have Memory Card slot holders in them. I remmember when I bought Red Faction that was the first game I got that had a memory Card slot holder, I was stoked!

Forgive me if I'm incorrect, but I beleive that Amaray, has/had the contract as the exclusive game case supplier for Playstation 2 games. If your case is dark blue(not black) and has the AMARAY stamp on the inside spine or near the inside spine, memory card slot or not, it's a genuine ps2 case.

I agree that not all have the memory card slot. I remember having NBA Live 0-something that didn't have it, but it had the official NBA holographic logo on the outer plastic of the case.

Yeah, the only early launch game I have is DOA2: Hardcore, and while it is an amaray case, it doesn't have the memory card holder. Also, the center of the disc holder is completely different (two halves to push down instead of the "button") I was pissed at the time I opened it, since BOTH of the instruction book clips just....fucking broke as I opened the case for the first time. *sigh*

Anyway, from what I've heard, Soul Nomad looks like an amaray case but it also doesn't have the memory card holder, since I just squeezed the top and it definitely isn't there. I suppose, cutting costs for late-era PS2 games? >_>

Well not all cases are the same perse....

Some games have thicker manuals than others and they actually make the two manual holders to fit the size of the manual.

Case in point, try switching a Monster Hunter case with a Madden NFL 08 case....you'll see what I mean ;)

i remember buying The Bouncer (boy what a fucking waste of money) and the case was the standard ps2 with the memory card slot. i didnt know they used a generic one.

the only release game i have here is Nfl Gameday 2002 generic case, however mlb high heat 2002 has a officail case those are both burned on dvds (silver back) but i have time crisis 2 and oddly enough it is on a cd and has an official case
