I wonder how many AAA games would be 4-6hrs if they were timed like Metal Gear Rising? Games that aren't even focused on speed runs
What?

I'm going to guess that the likelihood of a seller following through on a sale like that to be very low.

Most auctions are currently above $150.
i call bs, all the list i saw were above $150 msrp, unless you are counting the still bidding amount. It seems the Eu version is going up for $300 +

I've been watching them on eBay and they have been mostly selling $110-150. I'm just going to return mine for a full refund to Amazon. I ordered it in October and thought I cancelled it quite some time ago. Whoops.

I thought they charge return shipping in these cases.
The game is short so that you can see the amazing ending sooner. $60 well spent.
Save that $60 and just watch someone else play the game on youtube FTW!

What drugs are you on?

Completed Listings

The only thing going for less then $150 is the lamp itself and that is still selling for $130-$150 on its own.

Edit:

If you search for MGR Limited Edition instead of Collector's Edition I see three completed listings that went for less then $150. That is certainly the exception not the rule.

Or support new IP's

Thing is, this was never meant to be for 'everyone'. Besides several people here that are Metal Gear fans, I personally bought it because every single Platinum Game I've played has been good.

Bayonetta was about 6-8 hours on first playthrough too. The fun came from experiencing everything the game had to offer, that meant unlockables, hidden bosses, and of course the difficulties. Same applied for Vanquish, and same applies here.
I thought they charge return shipping in these cases.
They do, since Amazon isn't at fault here.
Look at how many aren't even selling at $200. This isn't something people want.
You mean, flippers? It's seems several of these posts are simply talking about whether it's profitable or not.
And how many of those that sold for less then MSRP do you think will actually be fulfilled by the sellers?
Ahaha, someone doesn't even know how eBay works.

The reviews are polarizing as expected. But there are several 9+ ratings. I have two sites I trust and they gave it great scores. This definitely sounds like a winner :D

EuroGamer - 9 / 10

GameTrailer - 9.2 / 10

I really want this LE, but I'm with the majority here, it's too damn expensive. I have a $20 promo I'm dying to use, but I'm going to hold on for a price drop. Here's hoping they don't sell out by then.

Anyone know where I can get the art book other than from ebay? Will gamestop sell the art book if people end up cancelling their pick ups/preorders?

Dudes there will probably thrash them/shred them unfortunately.. (or horde them) I'm hoping I can either find a CAGer later on that will come along and sell it. (Just hoping its not from a dumpster dive lol)

Not too heartbroken I missed it though, it looks cool and all but def not worth $20 imo when it's only 24 pages.

DmC got good reviews too.

Anyone else not happy about the Steelbook being G1 size?

I tweeted Konami and Kojima regarding this. Hopefully I get a response, but more than likely will not.

IGN gave it 8.5 as well IIRC, but the reviews are all over the place. Some give it much, much lower scores which leads me to believe this game is going to be a love it or hate it title. I'll pick this game up for $20 because I can't see paying full price for a game that boasts high replay value but three hour campaign. For me, it's usually one and done unless it's a MP game, obviously. I don't care much for collectibles or costumes unless it's an MMO (or other online component).

I wish I can feel the same way, but I NEED that artbook now and I connstantly think about it.

I'm going insane. Maybe I need to check my local gamestop and go sneak that shit.

It'll be amusing to read when down the road collectors say "man, I shoulda gone in that plasma lamp edition....". I think waiting for a price drop on this is foolish personally.

I have the art book. It's actually not the great.. it's bigger (dimensions, not pages) than I expected, but both the art and the paper quality are kind of lacking. A couple of the pages are literally a montage of screenshots. I got the last copy at my store though (and I went at 10AM), it does seem like they are short on inventory.

Ugh, really? 3 hours!? If this is true then it looks like a rental for me now.

Call a few Gamestops up and see if they have extras. When I got the preorder of the Zone of Enders CE it was supposed to come with a double-sided poster I never got...I called a few Gamestops and got a hold of one, they said come on in...didn't even have to show my receipt, they just handed it over. It's definitely worth a try, the artbook is a sexy lil' number. Definitely not worth a major price though.

I wanted that ZOE poster. Think it was GS exclusive.

Was so excited to get the limited edition today but sadly my lamp came with several nicks and scratches on the glass which kinda sucks cause they are mostly all on the front of where it is suppose to be displayed.

Definitely swap that bad boy out!
DmC got good reviews too.
And your point? DMC had the gameplay that most games can only dream of. The story wasn't all that bad considering the genre, but I had a load of fun playing through it and only traded it in because I know I can get it again in six months for $10-$15.

I hated the way they made Dante look but that had nothing to do with the quality of the game and the reviews reflected that.
Definitely swap that bad boy out!
I would but I sadly ordered at Gamestop and when I called and asked if I could they just told me I was the only one to order it at that location so I could not do a swap out. They did say they would do several calls at nearby gamestops to ask if there is any extras I could swap at those locations with.

I can't trust IGN reviews at all. I'm actually surprised it reviewed well there, but thats another story.

Platinum games in general are meant to be replayed and mastered. Vanquish and Bayonetta are games that I thought were pretty good after 1st playthrough, but by the end of my 2nd playthrough they were gameplay masterpieces! I have around 40hrs of total playtime on each but both are probably only a tad bit longer than MGR.

Every Japanese action game like this, even Bayonetta, got somewhat mixed reviews.

I trust reviewers on action games even less than I trust them on most other things.

Seriously. When this is getting worse reviews than DmC, you know konami must have forgotten to include money hats with their review copies.

I mean its funny, but its pretty depressing that most game reviewers are terrible at games.

Just a quick questions for those that already have the lamp (I'm currently at work so I just managed to open it up then I had to run out) the lamp has a thin film wrapped around it right? I didn't try prying it of yet but think I'll ask before I take small blade to it once I get home. Figure I'd leave it running for when the girlfriend gets home and sees it.

Can't wait till I get home, it's honestly been awhile since I've been this excited for a vidya game.

Yeah I was lucky to call my nearest GS and have the guy hold one for me, seems the rest of the GS's near me were out or completely clueless on what I was talking about. He did ask for my order invoice though.

Damn, that sucks man. I'm not one to bitch at CS for compensation but something like that def needs to get rectified. If they don't have any LEs around then they should at least credit you something back. I just got mine from Best Buy (ordered for home delivery) and the box was just wiggling around inside with just 3-4 air bags. Even though I love BB It really pisses me off that Best Buy just shoved it in there with absolutely no concern. Luckily the retail box is incredibly sturdy, no damage at all.

I will say though, considering I chose Standard Shipping I'm surprised they shipped this out on the 16th, and I got it exactly on the 19th. Well played on their part.

I'm just going to ask this here, because it pertains to the LE: I ordered from Walmart.com just before midnight, when it still said "Preorder" and not "Purchase." They still havent processed my payment, but it says that my copy "Should Have Arrived 2/19/13." I know I'm being impatient, but what are the chances of it actually showing up today? I used their free, standard shipping.

that is the bad thing preordering at gamestop.

no chance of it showing up today, LOL you should of preordered at amazon, or bestbuy, because their shipping is much faster. Walmart shipping service is not so good, if you search around the internet, you can find tons of poor reviews regarding their poor shipping service

he ordered from gamestop, so he is screwed unless he can find another one to exchange with, LOL

I made an online order of standard edition for in store pickup. I drove by the gamestop store to find that it had closed down. I think I'm SOL on pre order bonuses

People making those kinds of comments don't know what they're talking about. There's no way anyone can get through a 1st playthrough in 3 hours. I've been playing between 5-6 hours and I'm maybe half way done.

I guess the reviewers out there are clueless then, because I've seen it mentioned at least twice so far.
I guess the reviewers out there are clueless then, because I've seen it mentioned at least twice so far.
One of the reviews I read that mentioned the 6 hour length was going by the in-gamer timer which doesn't take into account cutscenes or deaths. Pretty sure if you remove cutscenes and deaths from most of the other games you've played they wouldn't clock in at much longer.
I guess the reviewers out there are clueless then, because I've seen it mentioned at least twice so far.
Yes, the reviewers are clueless. They are reporting the in-game timer, which adds the total quickest time it took you to pass a level. It does not account for deaths, cutscenes or replaying levels.

Add me to the "my lamp is destroyed" list. I'm not talking chips, I'm talking massive spider webbing and a nickel sized hole at the top. They packed it pretty well too, so I guess my UPS guys is sick of my amazon orders.

Here's hoping I get one intact before they run out

Oh, and check out this facepalm moment of the week.

skip to 37 seconds and wait for it.....
