Amazon: Left 4 Dead (PC) - $44.99
I'm pretty sure $39.99 is the MSRP. So Amazon is doing the typical $3 less for game preorders which makes more sense.

All other game etailers have it incorrectly priced at $49.99.
with that in mind, i'll probably wait for the steam version. theyll probably have a $5 off deal if you pre-order it or something.

thanks for the update, ordered from Amazon on the off chance it does indeed get released with an MSRP of $50. Seems a bit strange that every single place has the wrong prices for either version. Im also worried that Valve, seeing the game listed for $50 everywhere, wont decide to run with it. Its very high for them though. They've never released a single multiplayer only game for more than $30 let alone $50. Its being released in perfect timing with the christmas rush though so they may indeed attempt to rape the consumers wallet a bit.

Also if it does get released for $50 expect the price to drop like a rock. TF2 can be bought at many places for less than $20 and it hasnt even had its 1yr anniversary yet.

Interesting. The price on Amazon and Newegg have gone up to $50 MSRP plus 10% discount = $45. My preorder still says 36.99. Phew!

I think "drop like a rock" is expecting a bit much. Valve games pretty much never bottom out, MSRP-wise. CSS has only dropped $10 in nearly 4 years. TF2 will probably still be $20 three years from now.

TF2/Orange box has been up for grabs from between $20-$30 many times this year. Its only a year old and was an MSRP of 50/30 respectively so i'd call that a pretty quick and substantial price drop. Certainly compared to what console game hits do.

Orange Box is a special case (TF2 really isn't, it's only dropped $10).

Again, look at any of the other retail versions of CSS, HL2, et cetera.

Only dropped $10? Percent wise its a similar price drop. Mark my words Left 4 Dead will be easily found for $25-$30 8 months from its release [if it does indeed launch at $50].
