F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]

Will Amazon match Steam Winter Sale? If yes, will you only match daily deals? I would rather buy from Amazon but the deals would have to be up fast.
Will Amazon have Risen 2 sale soon ? it is $6.43 on GMG now but I prefer to give my money to Amazon :)
Amazon doesn't price match GMG
I want to drop money for The Walking Dead ($10) and Xcom ($20) on gamefly SO bad, normally I feel like dropping something this bad after couple of hours of drinking coffee with bad creamer.

Someone please convince me otherwise! PLEASE! as I have a shameful backlog of games.
Regarding TWD, if you plan to play it now, by all means buy it now. If not, wait until January. I just finished it and can EASILY see why it is up for GOTY in several peoples eyes and I paid $12.50 for it. And FWIW, I had no technical problems with the game whatsoever. No glitches with games saves, black screens, performance...nada. (i5-750/5870/8GB/7-64/360 controller)
Make yourself a nice little rule like I do: Never pay more than $10 for a game. Never pay more than $5 for a Telltale game. There you are!

I'd wait until January for a possible deal on The Walking Dead from amazon, with the $5 promo.

Don't listen to Mooby. Those are the 2 best games I played this year without question.
haha, you guys are too kind. I was merely expressing myself, wasn't really expecting anyone to try to convince me.

I believe general consensus here is that I should wait until January and I think you all have a valid point. The only risk is that we don't know what January sale prices will be, if its $5 off of full price then it's not much of a deal.
As far as Mooby's rule (coin this term!) goes, I like it but I do believe that some games just deserve more of our monies...but $44-59 a pop is beyond my range. I spent 29 bucks (pre-order) on Hitman Absolution PE at GMG and I am quite happy with that purchase. I want hitman to come back much earlier than six years like last time.

Thanks for your input guys, one thing I am sure about is that I am not going to let these two slide off of my radar...it's a matter of when and not if.

While I was thinking about waiting for Risen 2 on Amazon my guess is the lowest it'll hit is $10. Of course it might fall into a Steam price match + $5 coupon but it doesn't seem like the relationship between Amazon and Deep Silver (publisher) is the best (nothing against Amazon) so I doubt it ends up on the Editor's Choice list. Sub $7 from GMG is tempting... or I could just wait another six months while the price continue to free fall.

God GMG is a piss poor website, I can't buy Arkham City either because apparently my bank is not authorizing the purchase even though I'm buying with money on my Paypal account. fuck em then. I'll wait for the Amazon winter sales.

So let me get this right, your bank is blocking the sale and it's GMG's fault ?

Did you consider calling your bank and letting them know they are stopping you from spending your money where you want to spend it. You've obviously triggered a fraud protection process trying to buy from a european company.

I did that yesterday when they didn't let me buy Dead Island, it's not on their side. I even tried putting money directly on Paypal and paying with that. Still, nope. They're too good for my money apparently.

I suggest you post on their facebook page, they seem very responsive to feedback. I find the paypal thing hard to believe unless the funds are still being drawn from your bank account without you realizing it.

Hey Tony, can we finally get good deals on NBA 2K12, 2K11 and so on? Steamworks ideally.

Also any hopes to get a cheap Batman AA GOTY and Batman AC GOTY bundle? Would be great, thanks!

Hey Tony, any chance you could get a Secret World sale anytime soon? After hearing it's going buy to play, I desperately want a copy. A steam key would be amazing ;_;

Steam key will probably not happen, since it is an EA game. It should activate on Origin though.

^^^
That's not how it works. As an example, look up why Amazon doesn't have ArmA II keys for STEAM.
It's possibly for them to get STEAM keys, but imo, highly unlikely.

I third a Secret World. Don't need it on Steam. $5 would be amazing (though I know the price on GMG is highly unlikely to be seen elsewhere).

$5 paired with Medal of Honor: Warfighter would be even better, but if EA is being their usual greedy selves, then I can do without the MOH.

I don't need a steam key if it isn't possible, but I'd love to buy 2 copies of the secret world for me & my girlfriend. $5 or $7.50 would be incredible, but I'd pay $10 without complaint.

I really wish I'd known about them dropping the subscription fee a few days ago when GMG had that 5 dollar sale. Would have definitely picked it up.

You want a AAA title game that's less than 2 months old to be bundled with another game for $5?

Yeah. Talk about greedy.

I believe they are both rated M.

No no no, not greedy, cheap, ass cheap, and here you are, revolving in the mud with us, cheap ass gamers.

I believe you don't understand the difference between rating and title.

FYI i know a lot of you have been asking about Gamefly PMs, as with all of the PM requests, if you don't hear back from me and the deal looks too good to pass up...jump on it, we'll have all the titles you're talking about on sale over the holiday but:

1. We don't match coupons/flash sales
2. We don't match international retailers at all

I'll be updating the OP next week with holiday deals but I'll include some sneak peaks as the days go on. Example, we'll have Lego Lord of the Rings for 75% off at one point, likely close to Christmas.

Cheers,
Tony

That would be the bestest Christmas gift ever. Going to throw in my hat hoping for a Secret World sale too.
sold!!!
lol, why is Lego LotR getting so many discounts so fast, compared to all the other Lego games? Did it not sell well?

Platinumed it on PS3. It's up there with the best Lego games.

Oh also, this Friday we'll have Syndicate for $5 for those who missed it and every Serious Sam THING we carry for $10. This includes all the DLCs. For 2 hours.

Cheers,
Tony

If a joke is not funny is it still considered a joke?

It had a delayed and weird launch on PC. Didn't exactly create a lot of good PR. Plus the Hobbit is coming out in a few days. Synergy!
Tony, I know you are not doing PM on some Gamefly stuff, but does that mean you are not doing PM at all? (ie. Sleeping Dogs is not on sale for $16.99 + another 20% off coupon: http://www.gamefly.com/Download-Sleeping-Dogs-Digital-Edition/5003868/ )
Yeow... nice deal!

They botched the release big time for the PC. The release date came and no one but GMG had it for sale but when you activated the game on Steam it wouldn't let you download because it wasn't out yet. Didn't hear word on when it would be released till like 10 days later or something. They pissed a fair number of people off and the release went into December which put them against more games probably hurting the sales even more.
If a joke is not funny is it still considered a joke?
Yes, obviously.

And I thought it was pretty amusing, personally.

Yep,

Also, can anyone tell me if those Gamefly coupons are 1 time use per customer or multiple?

Cheers,

EVERY game? Including Serious Sam 3 and the latest expansion? ERMAGURRR

Clearly, this is because the boxed copy I bought from Amazon was handed off to FedEx this morning, and it's now too late for me to cancel.

(Honestly, though, I would have bought the boxed version anyway, since it's for a Christmas gift; but the timing here is just too good to go unmentioned.)

I had no idea that the sub has been dropped, thanks for the info, now I don't feel so bad about having TWO copies (yay)

My free month trial of Prime is about to run out. My woman has an .edu email. Can I link that to my email and get that six months trial? What about military emails, any trials for those? TIA.
