Pre-Order Borderlands 2 from us for 10% off and help me get a tattoo! Yes it activates on Steam!

I am a huge Borderlands 2 fan and I want this to be our best selling pre-order ever. So I've drawn a line in the sand. If, from now until launch, we take 40,000 more preorders than where we were on 7/2/2012 I will get a Borderlands tattoo on my back.

Could someone click that once and then change their mind? Sure, I guess. But doing it every single time and then demanding a refund? And then being told you can't do that and still doing it and getting someone else involved? Sure, I guess technically the village idiot could be doing all that, but then I'd be amazed he figured out how to turn on a computer and place an order in the first place.
Pretty much. Outside of scamming Amazon/people I can't see any other plausible reason why you'd view every single key you bought and then return it.

it sucks when people try to take advantage of good will, haven't been in this thread in a while, just read a few pages back, what a fucking douche, is really disheartening that someone would try to do this, we are blessed to have tony on this site, lets make sure he stays here for a looooooooong time, at least that's what i think

Stuff like that is worse than straight up piracy.

I don't understand why one would even go through all that hassle when he could have just pirated the games honestly (lol). Why take advantage of what we have here when you could have just downloaded cracked versions and such on pirating sites? Utter nonsense.

Then again maybe he was selling the games elsewhere. At least he owned up to it... eh.
They'll refund Steam or Origin games?
Are they crazy?

Once it's added on Steam or Origin, it's YOURS FOR GOOD b/c it ties your account.
No, they aren't crazy, they just have great customer support. If you buy a Steam game from Amazon and find it is a buggy mess that won't run right, they've got your back. I've done exactly that. Once. With the first Steam game I bought on Amazon.

Of course, even though I got a refund, the game still is in my Steam library. I even contacted Steam Support to see if they could pull it off of my account, as I had gotten a refund. They couldn't.

Agreed. Amazon, despite all the bitching and moaning about them, ranks consistently high in customer service. Steam, while a great service, often has really poor customer support in my experience.

Reading lots of good things about Spec Ops and I'm glad it's still on sale so I've bought it!

If anyone is interested in the Bioshock Bundle (1+2) for $7 from the Amazon Desert to Sea bundle please PM me.

Lol, been paying taxes on both STEAM and Amazon purchases for years; sky hasn't fallen yet, my wallet is fine. Few pennies to help support your state isn't much.

UW_Shocks I'm happy you love your state but I'm from PA then moved to DE and back in PA and sales tax sucks! You buy a damn soda for $1 and you get charged $1.06... I had to break a dollar for 6 cents!!!!!!

Amazon was the light of hope to gamers.. We saw games for dirt cheap and no tax. I guess with their crappy sales I might as well use weekly sales at brick and mortar stores like everybody else. Yay.... Buy a $60 game and get a $5 gift card....

Amazon is a very big (biggest) online company and can afford to keep their customers happy. Even though you can return everything and get your way, you do risk getting yourself lifetime banned from the site (including all your family members and maybe friends) so return stuff if it's legit, but don't abuse it.

Every time I have an issue, I actually worry if this will make my account more likely to be banned. So far so good though since it's still relatively rare compared to the amount I buy in both digital and physical goods.

6 pennies? are you serious?
Amazon was never a last hope of no taxes for anyone. Washingtonians since Amazon's birth have been paying taxes on purchases. If you can't afford sales tax, then you may need to find employment.

I love it when people toss in employment in an insulting way... It's called I SIMPLY DON"T WANT TO PAY TAX... Maybe I'll do ALL my video game shopping on black friday..

You think Fall of Cybertron will be $40 or $30 on black friday?

Yeah, I hate paying state sales tax for Amazon & Steam, too.

Best Buy, Target, Walmart, GameStop, PSN.... Basically the only thing I *don't* pay sales tax on is NewEgg. ...Ah, NewEgg...

People wouldn't mind paying sales tax as much if local, state and federal governments actually used tax dollars efficiently...That said, paying more for anything sucks, especially in a CAG forum.

Back on topic, are pretty much all the labor day sales done now?

I'm from PA and I now have to pay sales tax. Amazon is consistently cheaper than other places on DVG even with tax included. You make it seem like amazon wants to make people in PA pay sales tax. Blame the man, hippy not amazon.

Steam helped me once deactivating Deus Ex HR key from one account and activated it on another. It was an AMD promo key that was accidently registered on the wrong account, so I'm sure they can do that

On the other hand, I always read reviews for games before purchasing (except pre-orders of course) and I've never felt unsatisfied with "any" purchase

Amazon CS is really awesome and I've only contacted them once for an Origin key that didn't work and within 2 hours it was fixed ! I've never asked for refund from Amazon or any other online retailer for anything I purchase because I am always 100% sure I want that purchase. Only asked for an Audible service refund because I didn't know I was being charged and I haven't done a single download from them

As for taxes, I hope TN will not get that too (will it ?) because for me Amazon is the only PC, electronics and game supplier. I never buy from Newegg :D

Is there a snowball's chance in hell that Amazon matches Microsoft's 1600 points and $10 promo credit for Borderlands 2? I don't preorder often and have no idea.

Don't think Amazon gives out Microsoft points.

Most states already have a "Use Tax" on the books stating that items purchased out-of-state to be brought in and primarily used in your home state need to be taxed at the usual rate. Previously this was very loosely enforced just because of the difficulty in tracking these things (especially for private citizens rather than businesses) but more and more states are cracking down on it as they look for revenue. The tax itself is nothing new, but its sudden enforcement makes a lot of people think it is.

Try Somalia. They don't have taxes.

As a private citizen with my own small business, I make sure to check and pay a use tax when I file my state taxes. There's a chart for an estimated amount based on income and it really is quite easy. So, yes, I pay (use) taxes on purchases from Amazon and Steam, eventually.

It took me 9 days with many replies to do so. I guess they are just too busy to do that sometimes, plus with Steam, your mileage will always vary

Thanks, Tony! :applause: You're awesome. :applause: Prompt responses. Great deals. Hardest working man in the business. Keep up the great work... and we'll keep buying from Amazon! :)
I'm wondering why there are refunds on digital games.
Because it is good customer service. Games should be refundable since the developer/publisher/storefront can disable or deactivate the game due to DRM. With all of the complexities of PC's t's so easy for a game not to function properly for someone that refunds within a certain time period should be allowed.

STEAM normally DOESN'T allow this, 99% of the time.
If anyone should allow refunds it should be Steam since it can remove a game from someone's account with ease. But, Steam is the perfect example of how NOT to handle your customer service.

Yea I agree Steam customer service is HORRIBLE... so so horrible... During holiday sales times it can take over 1 week for even the first response on a ticket, compare this to Amazon (or even EA's Origin for that matter) they pretty much have live chat customer service which have almost never failed me when I've had a problem.

I'm no one to say what a company's return policy should be, but if you buy a game with 5 activations and those activations are used up you got what you paid for.

With PC games I've always considered it caveat emptor. Games can not work for a million reasons and that's the risk you take sometimes. If I buy a game and it's buggy or just bad, that's what I paid for and it is what it is. As long as the company I purchased it from delivered it I don't really expect much more.

So Amazon definitely goes above and beyond.

Tony said there's some problems currently with the bundle though, so hopefully that gets sorted out soon.

What kind of DRM come with those games? I saw at least a couple of the ones over at GamersGate say that they're infected with Starforce. Not sure about Amazon though.
Back in April, Tony said that 1C would be removing the DRM from their catalog, and that he'd set up another promotion with them once the updates were done.

He hasn't confirmed whether this bundle will include all of the newly-DRM-free titles, but I'm hoping that it's true. My decision to buy will hinge on 1C's fulfillment of its DRM-removal promise.

In regards of who was abusing the amazon return policy...

IT WAS ME TONY!!!

In all seriousness though, that sucks that a CAG would do something like that. Hopefully this will never happen again as the old saying goes: once someone abuses the policy, they ruin it for everyone else...

On another note, I'm stuck in a hotel all week for my new electronics engineering job (well rather till tomorrow evening where I can move into my new apt). I plan on grabbing Mass effect 3 since it is at a stellar price!

Hopefully the DRM-Free option is there when the bundle launches. However, Tony said the 1c Bundle would all be STEAM keys; so I think it hinges on whether STEAM will have the DRM-Free version or not [well, I guess it would mean STEAM as the only form of DRM].

Problem is:

Bob 'buys' game from Steam. Bob plays game. Bob finishes game. Bob returns game for full refund. Bob repeats this for every game he buys. Multi-player aside most people buy a game and play it for a finite amount of time. Sure, some have more replay value than others and you can always go back and revisit something you beat a couple of months or years down the line but the reality is the potential for abuse of the system is far too great to allow refunds with digital downloads.

Yes, you could put a set window on the refunds (as you mentioned) but a lot of games today can be finished in a matter of hours. Certainly in a day of dedicated play. Where do you draw the line?
