Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

I'm not a full blown CAG. I don't have 1000 video games on steam. I do have a very limited gaming budget. I am very selective on what I buy. This community is a great source on finding deals and in helping me decide how I spend my budget.
So the 3 coupons I got were from amazing winter sales, and the 3 coupons have helped immensely on my Jan budget. Because I don't have 1000 games, these deals in which everyone has these games are pretty good for someone like me

You know, even though I'd been thinking that this sale was disappointing, I think that feeling just comes from it getting hyped up by everyone and that damned sega pack never showing up, along with the missing publisher sales. Overall, I got quite a bit of stuff (that I will not play for a long time), for really, really cheap. I really hope that Tony figures out some cool promotion to do next year, should the EC go away.

This has been the best year yet for me and am very thankful, it paid once again to wait for all my game buying on Amazon (or Humble).

My two biggest disappointments from EC have been:

Missing "Alice: Madness Returns The Complete Collection" - thought I had purchased it, but by the time I figured out I hadn't it was the day after the discount ended.

Skipping "Need For Speed Most Wanted All DLC Bundle" and then managing to find the boxed game on Microsoft Store online afterwards for $2.99, but too late to still get the DLC at a discount.

 
Haven't got anything from EC deals.  Would have gotten one of the GTA 4 packs but SecuRom = no thanks.  Not Tony's fault.  Considering the Legacy of Kane stuff.

 
My EC haul:

I have Alice game on Steam.

I know they don't sell the extra dlc, or have the original alice on the Steam version, but you get a key which activates on origin.

However, from what I researched online, you can anyways unlock original alice and the dresses/weapons DLC in the .ini file. Wouldn't that in effect make the extra "complete collection" of alice pointless if you can get the base game cheaper and unlock em yourself?

You can only unlock the DLC that way, the only way to get the original Alice is through the complete collection

This. The original Alice will show up on the menu, but you can't play it because you won't have the game files. Just get the complete origin version if you want to play the first game.

Not until its cheap. I got about halfway through alice, and got bored. It has a few annoying glitches and camera problems that made me lose interest in continuing for now. Is the original any better, and did it age well?

Surprised no one has posted this yet. Amazon just dropped the price of Bioshock: Infinite to $9.99 for PC download. Just ran through the checkout process and it was applying $5 EC to bring the price to $4.99!

Can you really do that? I thought the origin version was altered a bit, like support for more resolutions.

I've seen them live 4 times now...and it'll be 5 as soon as they are in town again. I even went super crazy fanboy and sent their Facebook account a message offering to help out with marketing if they ever need it lol.

It was free on Google Play for a couple weeks for the new year. Lucky you though, seeing them live is much better than a free album.

Played through it last night. Took me around 3-4 hours.

Anyways, it's much tougher, darker, crazier, and scarier than DS3.

Basically, it has the elements DS3 should've had A LOT more of.

Make sure you take your save finishing the base-game into Awakened - or you WILL be decimated.

Though - there's a lot of back-tracking, visiting recycled areas and re-skinned areas.

There are a few new things, but not many new areas and enemies.

And if you were scratching your head about some things after DS3 base-game's finale, expect more questions asked w/out any answers - which really has me hoping that there'll one day be a Dead Space 4.

Yeah - Kanye West's "Yeezus" and CHVRCHES' "Bones Of What You Believe (Regular Edition)" were FREE around New Year's on Google Play. :D

Both are certainly worth FREE.

Though, I bought both around Black Friday 2013.

CHVRCHES was probably the only album last year that I bought that I really could listen to from front-to-back and love the whole thing through. Many albums, I either find songs I don't like or songs that I just skip ALL the time. NOT this one.

Yeah I thought it was among the top albums of the past year, and synthpop is hardly my preferred genre.

If star trek's synthehol has taught me anything, I would imagine synthpop mimics the taste and effects of soda/pop, without any of the addictive qualities.

I would imagine synthpoop is the same, just with poop. I can't imagine how you could possibly make poop non-addictive though.

But - oh, her lyrics...she just cuts you like a knife, every time. Not sweet at all.

I love "Gun", "Mother We Share", "We Sink", and "Tether."

I heard somewhere that bill gates wants to make a toilet that turns poop into electricity. That would technically be synthiyzing poop into non additive energy.
