F.A.Q's

What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, generally like new items.

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes, All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

What condition does products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and almost in perfect condition. However, some people have reported that games were in no so scratched condition with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken

I'm waiting for the 360 slim, or ps3 to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

Just got in my $213 "used-very good" PS3 from 2 days ago. Good news and bad news...

Good news is that it's practically brand new, not a scratch in sight. The dual shock controller looks like it wasn't even used at all.

Bad news is that I got unlucky and got a CECH-2001A model, which are from the "old" batch PS3 slims.

Haven't tested it out yet, but I will update this post in a few hours.

I would have settled with bad news and good news.

That's ok. My warranty from Sony is good till August sometime, so I'll just send it in for in warranty service if it goes before then.

Actually I believe I ended up getting a slim PS3 soon after they released and that was last year around August or so from what I remember.

I'm still kicking myself over not researching how to do the file restore option from the PS3's 'safe mode' menu, which speeds up how quickly the PS3 recognizes a game is in the drive, since that was my PS3 phat's only 'issue' when I got rid of it last August.

Otherwise I would still have the phat PS3, but by now I would've likely had to upgrade to a much larger HDD with all of the games I currently have.

Your phat PS3 is somewhere in someone else's home, newly restored to its proper settings, knowing that you regret your callous selling of it and it is smug. Your new hotness just ain't as hot. Literally and figuratively.

I've been tempted by a 2101 CECH PS3 slim, but my launch PS3 60gb having capabilities that other PS3's dream about always changes my mind. PS2? Got it. Memory cards? Boom. Quiet? Whisper-quiet before Microsoft even knew what that meant. SACD? You betcha. 4 USB ports? Rock on! Faster blu-ray drives than slims? Oh yeah...

Better heat dissipation and lower power use are nice, but they ain't that nice. Plus, my phat PS3 and its brother from another mother, the Xbox 360 S, share the same gang colors, button behaviors, and noise level. Now if only my Wii would join the posse, all would be well.

I'm seriously considering one of those Black Wii's that keep popping up in the Warehouse...

Just got the Metroid Trilogy, bit disappointed with the condition.

Slip on cover looks like it slid around a lot in the cardboard packaging they sent it in and has a few long lines that look like someone ran a box cutter down and didn't get all the way through, one of the clips to hold the manual down is nowhere to be found and the front page of the manual is smashed up along most the the right side and a decent amount of the bottom/top sides.

Suppose for $40 I would have spent almost as much buying the individual games used and I do have the convenience of one disc. :whistle2:k

Finally have a Wii game to play so that makes up for most of my disappointment. :)

Why not? The ps2 has a gigantic gaming libary with alot of games that are still playable and enjoyable today. My 60 gigs ability to play them is a big boon in my eyes. If it every broke i'd probaly try to find another one rather thans witch to the slim. I also have more than enough room on my console for the system, so don't feel a need to a version that has everything compressed needlessly.

Phat PS3 do not have faster blu ray drives. Did you dream that? They are all 2x. SACD is a dead format which is why the format co-creator, Sony (Wouldn't you know), is letting it die. Blu ray has far better capabilities for audio than SACD ever will. Real life performance cannot be discerned between SACD and CD anyways. PS2 games? Upscaling game capability of the phat 60gb PS3 I had was horrible. I had better luck just hooking up my ps2 to my receiver and/ or TV that did way better job than the phat PS3. 480i/p will never look good enough on modern 720p/1080p HDTVs. Which is why Sony will just release remastered versions of the older games for PS3 be it double dipping or not. God of War Collection for example look awesome on PS3 for being older titles. 4 USB ports and memory card readers. You can buy attachments these days that defeat those. I mean, do you play with usb cable attached on your dualshock 3 or something? Or are you mistaking that 4 USB ports in phat = 4 controller ports and 2 USB ports in slim = 2 controller ports? As for it being quiet, phats are about as loud as my old Hoover. Imo, slim is better than phat. It'll live longer and healthier than my previous phat that needed constant vacuuming in the vents.

Testing has consistently shown that the CECH-2000 series PS3's are slower but not by a lot. It is noticeable as I have one "slim" and two "fat" models.

Whether SACD is dying or not, it's still a great format and if one has the sound system to utilize it, there is a definite difference in sound quality. SACD's are still being released and can be had for decent prices with a bit of research.

I prefer to play PS2 games on my PS3's because the upscaling makes the image a lot smoother when dealing with larger screens (65" or greater). Having two USB ports on the slim is okay for now but when the Move controllers come out, it will be handy to have more ports but this isn't a big issue as a decent USB hub can be found for a dollar or two. I do like having four ports on my older systems though. Especially, if multiple people are playing and need to charge the DS3's while playing. Having 15 ft' cables is a nice thing.

I have heard about the loud fan complaints with older fats and one of mine started doing that after the repair but I believe it's because the fan controller got messed up when that system died. It has since been brought back to life and the guts will be transported to a much better case that will provide better airflow because the design of the PS3 is atrocious. Especially the older ones. The last revisions of the "fat" model were much better as there were more passive cooling parts installed.

Sorry for steering the thread to this discussion but just wanted to provide some personal input. I'm in the hunt for a good price of a blue DS3 controller and replacement sticks. :)

Actually my slim gets very warm/hot along the top towards the back. It's quite scary at times actually.

My one buddy who also has an early slim model has said the same thing about his.

But the phat PS3 I used to have would get hot along the bottom of the console in the back quite often as well.

Yet I have had both consoles right out in the open on top of a wooden table and not blocked at all on any side. I guess this gen's consoles just run hotter than prior gens for whatever reason. But it's still VERY disconcerting.

Probably look into that after work tomorrow. Though guessing I'll end up wanting to go home and change asap instead of checking it out. Thanks for the heads up.

The PS3 slim is showing as 'backordered' and coming back into stock on July 15th right in the listing. Weird. Don't the listings just normally disappear once the systems are bought up?

Saw that happen a couple days ago for the first time. Had no idea what that was about and thought it was a fluke. Couple things showing up as backordered now though so wondering what that's about as well. Don't get why some disappear and others end up backordered. :whistle2:?
Keep missing the PS3s as well. I'll keep trying though.
There's one slim showing at $203 in Very Good condition currently.

edit: and it's gone.

PS3 Slim arrived today. Sealed, original packaging, looked brand new. Was listed as Used-Very Good for $200. 2001 model #. Quite content with it.

I think I just need to sit on this thread indefinitely until I find one. Actually I'll probably just change my subscription settings for this thread to send email with every new reply.

PS3 Slim came this morning its a 2000 model. I think it was a good deal for $213. I saw one for $203.99 the day after and not to upset because its only $10 and it was gone within minutes.
Was listed used very good, the box was taped on the bottom and one piece of tape sealing the top. Other than that the box and the system look new. Everything starts up, downloads, and it runs games fine.
