Would it be better to send this out all across American so only a handful of stores across several retailers get them?

Also for NYC Nintendo World store is the only place to get certain amiibo.

 
So I stopped and check on my local gamestops in Brentwood, CA (two 1 mile from my home, lucky me) and they weren't breaking street date.  Stated they got 10 of each, but approximately half the shipment was for preorder fulfillment.  However, he let me know some amiibro just gave up on collecting and so I scored these two preowned amiibos.

Damn bro. Used rare amiibos at Gamestop has to be about the luckiest you can get in the amiiibo hunt. (And in good condition too)

Nice haul!

Hopefully you bought a 3rd amiibo/skylander/disney infinity figure, since GameStop is giving an extra 50% off when you buy 3 or more pre-owned figures. If not, go back and return/rebuy!

Oh crap I totally forgot. Will head back right now. I dont recall them having anything else that was rare, but for basically snagging it at no cost.. why not.

 
There is no street date.  Stop using that term.   Some stores sell these things whenever they get them.  There is no penalty from the distributor or publisher.  Reprints don't have street dates either; they were already released.  The only thing that comes close to having a "Street Date" would be the first print run of a retailer exclusive.  Those can get sold/delivered early as well.

You know as well as I do what I was referring to when I said "street date". The memo that they all received to hold until Thursday July 9th. You must be a sour collector who doesn't get any exclusives. All I was stating is that my local stores were holding their stock until tomorrow morning, you know, informing fellow local CAG's of two stores that they can wait for tomorrow. My bad.

After about the fifth time of seeing different people say it, I get sick of people propagating misinformation.  Thousands of people bought Ness and King Dedede yesterday or today.

Without actually seeing the memo nobody can be sure what it really says, it may say that "all stores will have shipments by Thursday to put out for sale". Making some people confused?

Anybody notice anything different on the reprint King dedede design (other than the box)? Tried looking at pictures on eBay but didnt see a difference. Its also a bit funny how there are many Ness and King Dedede together listings.

The Gamestop employee I talked to was originally willing to sell the figures as soon as they came in but after reading the memo apologized and said he would have to hold them until Thursday the 9th. So something in the memo clearly changed his mind about selling them early.

This exactly for my stores. The guy at the first store said they were still in transit, however the second store they said they wont get them in until tomorrow. After pressing he said, they saw the boxes in back but they were instructed to sell on the 9th per memo. They did say another store on Ygnacio Valley in Walnut Creek, CA had them in their inventory and possibly sold some, but I wasn't going to drive 40 minutes on a whim, only to get a 1.5 hour commute back

 
My GameStop sold them early. Picked up 3 each of Ness and DDD. It's cool, I'm a collector.

A lot of you are attacking these stores for selling these items early but it doesn't stop every one of you stopping at the stores asking for them knowing well they are supposed to be held until Thursday.

Holy crap. That thing looks kinda cool, but there is no way any fool is going to actually buy that for nearly a grand. HE DOESN'T EVEN INCLUDE SHIPPING!

Id consider buyin it for like $22 maybe just cause it looks pretty good, as I lack any art skill. I hated art as a kid and still do.

 
I called my local gamestop which I dread going to and sure enough they had Ness available.  I almost caved and payed scalper prices a few days back as this little guy is the last to elude me.  Not the the satisfaction of being 39/39 will last long with the impending wave...

 
Sitting in a GameStop parking lot, hating my life lol. *sigh* Not a single gamestop with an inventory sign around here..no one wanted to put them up I guess.

That's how I felt when I was waiting in line at 3am on May 29. It was before I started my summer job so I figureed what heck. And then I drove over there and sat in my car until around 6am when people actually showed up.

Heh, I'm sitting in my car. Don't feel like starting the line (it's also raining). Maybe at 9, if no one comes before. Been here an hour and I'm still the only one here. I guess it'll be worth it if they actually have them. Need my D3.

So D King was probably a reprint, but what about Ness? Seems pretty dam soon for him to have gone through production again. Stock that was held back probably?

I know there's an impending flood of more photos of these from beaming collectors smugly ready to share news of their spoils, but congrats on the scores guys. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get the yarns at a decent price.

Ness was a reprint. The back of the box of the reprints have a picture of the new 3ds.

Saw a guy pull up, so I went to go start the line at my GS. Thought to myself, "Oh good. This'll save me the embarrassment of racing a worker accidentally". Aaannd..it turned out to be an employee lol. The guy was really nice though, he didn't seem to care or notice, and he went to check out the stock for me. Came back with a smile and a piece of paper: the inventory sign, 6 of each! :)
Looks like this was worth it after all (somewhat).
 
Already got Ness and DeDeDe so no need for me to stress this time.  :)

Yeah I'm really glad I was able to get one of each yesterday since work is pretty hectic today. One of the GS in my area is pretty well hidden and they had several of each left so I may stop in tonight and try to get one more Dedede.

If thats the case could you or another friendly CAG pick up a spare Ness? I've decided to just go after a classic smash line up so I'll need him.
 
No new amiibo at my GameStop. And I didn't notification that nws had a restock yesterday when I was in the city. Ness eludes me again.
 
Just left with my King D3. Several people showed up as the opening approached. Had a really fun retro game conversation with two other guys. Turned out to be a great way to start the day. Glad I went.
 
Got a ness and dedede from each of the two stores here in my mall. Only one other guy was waiting and he also went to both stores like I did

For the love of god please don't be TRU exclusive. Out of every single fucking fighter in the game, Mewtwo has become my favorite.... to say nothing of the nostalgia this would evoke from my time with Pokemon Blue and the Stadium games. For once Nintendo have a fucking heart, make this one available please?

And is there any word yet on if the 8-bit Mario pictured behind Mewtwo functions like the regular Mario amiibo in Mario Maker? I highly doubt it does. I'm extremely pissed that they are locking certain powerups behind this amiibo, and I'm not go ing through a tedious amiibo hunt just to unlock on disc content I should've gotten with my $60 to begin with.... I'd rather just not get the game at all.

Why wouldn't you just call to ask if they were selling as soon as received? The stock is limited. It's only common sense to ask if they're selling off early or else you may find you waited 2 hours for absolutely nothing come Thursday morning. Precautionary measures.

There were 5 Ness and 1 Dedede at the GS in Clayton at 40/42.
