It's confirmed.
I heard a rumor about it 2 weeks ago, but never received a phone call myself.
I just got back from the FYE I pre-ordered at, and they confirmed that all pre-orders have been cancelled and I was refunded my deposit.

I don't care that it happened, just the reason they gave over the phone. "Sorry sir, they are no longer being made." Really!?!?!

I literally saw a kid ask some guy "hey, I see you have lil mac" "My dad beat Mike Tyson on NES, did you?" The guy proceeded to explain the whole fight back in 1988 against tyson and the kid just stood their speechless, and gave his little mac to the guy saying how he wasn't worthy enough to even own such an amiibo, and how the guy should have 2. They guy nodded, and accepted the proper respect that was correctly given. Too bad these kids who know their place these days are far and few between. Wish his dad was there so that I could have shaken the guys hand.
Sounds like quite the tale!. You should post this to r/amiibo

The pecking order has nothing to do with Nintendo's opinion of it. It has to do with the opinion of the greatest era of gamers aka the "NES kids". Damn, you really do admire that kid's dad. It sounds like you'll do more than shake his hand ;)

I know we like to think being Nintendo fans since the beginning makes us more worthy of owning a classic like Lil' Mac. But I think it's even more important to encourage kids to learn the origins of great characters like Lil' Mac, Pit, and Ness to name a few. And your post speaks to that end too.

What better way to get the younger fans interested than releasing collectibles of the classic characters? I'm of the opinion that younger fans are not necessarily less deserving than I am. I'd be no better than a "genwunner" to think they can't love Lil' Mac just as much having played the Wii U version of Punchout first. Your story would've been even better if the older guy had insisted the kid keep his Lil' Mac as long as the kid promised to play the original NES Punchout. ;)

Chances are F.Y.E. weren't getting Wave 4 amiibos at all , perhaps they assumed they would get some in and allowed preorders. Its not unheard of retailers accepting pre orders for a product they may or may not have.

Hell in Australia EB games is accepting pre order for the Nintendo NX. Also as far as Nintendo World goes, its on its own world.Inventory appears to be completely independent from what the other retailer gets.Meaning its unlikely that Nintendo would sabotage stock for another retailer in order to stock up for Nintendo World , World gets it own stuff seperate from the other boys.
Remember MetaKnight though? It seemed incredibly suspicious that all these preorders get canceled at BB, only to have MetaKnight show up at Nintendo World.

But being an NES fan since the beginning DOES make you more worthy of owning a classic like Lil'Mac, just like being an SNES kid makes you worthy of owning Ness.

Anything short of this would be like you, or me, or anyone for that matter telling someone like Billy Mitchell that they are more deserving of owning a Pac Man amiibo. It is what it is.

that story is pathetic and the guy who accepted an amiibo from a kid is horrible.
You clearly don't understand how life works or how the concept of respect works. You are suggesting that the guy should have disrespected the kid by not accepting the amiibo being offered. Get a clue already.

All I got from this story is that the kid who gave up the amiibo and the guy who told the story both sound like clowns.

Agree to disagree then. It really just comes down to having been alive longer more often than not. I can't seriously say that I deserve a plastic toy more than a kid because I'm older. XD

You can have someone just as old as you who never played punch out buy a lil mac amiibo and sell it on ebay. If you think that he deserved it as much as you did (someone that actually played the game) then we certainly do disagree.

Straw man aside--of the two in your story, the older guy who now has 2 Lil' Mac amiibo is far more likely to be the one selling a Lil' Mac. If the kid had gotten one in the end, both would be more likely to actually use a Lil' Mac amiibo for his own enjoyment. Jus' sayin.

On another note, normally you're okay with scalping. So, that angle from you was a surprise tbh. Can a scalper only be worthy to scalp a Lil' Mac if he's played the NES Punchout?

The button isn't up for me
still there for me on chrome. Still can't add to cart. My page monitor went off so I tried to add to cart (I wouldn't have checked out, but just wanted to test), and it didn't add. Maybe just a bug.

Gone now. not sure what that was.

didn't Target announce that Jigglypuff online preorders were sold out and you would need to be in-store to get them from here on out?
They already made a no online preorders announcement before online preorders went up for ~15min a second time. I wish I trust 'em haha.

Target should be banned from receiving any more store exclusives.Although i understand that they are most likely under a contract , after it ends however they should be barred from receiving any more exclusives. i don't blame them for the inventory issues since that's more likely Nintendo's fault. However target's incompetence has proven that they simply just aren't ready for handling store exclusive amiibo. Their Website is horrendous , their IT department appears to be nonexistent , even their customer support is not capable of proper damage control they just outright lie most of the time.

If it weren't for store exclusives i doubt most people would even waist their time dealing with target.Same reason why most hunters don't bother with Walmart.

Same can be said about any store actually. Walmart, Gamestop, Toysrus... all their sites aren't well designed for high volume of users at once.

If anything though, Target and Walmart has been the best imo. Both had pre-orders up multiple times (yes not for long but again, high volume of users at once). Target even had orders come out after the release date though not much and not for a long period of time.

I can't name any place where this would go well. Well as in pre-orders up for more than an hour, 20+ of the item at "every" store w/ a 1 person limit, no cancellations, website not crashing, etc. It's just not going to happen especially for the 2 or 3 times a year an exclusive item might even cause this. If anything Amazon does it best but Amazon isn't a physical store and can focus solely on their website.

Walmart is specifically built for high volume. It's just what you consider high volume and what they consider high volume are world apart. Walmart can process a million orders an hour.

Actually, Walmart.com isn't. Walmart, yes, but not their website which has had several problems in the past from the 2013 Walmart Glitch to previous Black Friday's where the site simply crashes.

Their website probably gets as much traffic daily as BestBuy or Target would.

I see your point its just that i feel Target is handling this already bad situation very sloppy , putting up pre orders at random obscure hours , the lack of an instore pre ordering option , caught lying on multiple occasions. I like how they recently announced jigglypuff preorder were no more yet came back up despite that announcement lol.

ToyRUs is almost as bad as target in this regard , a.Best Buy minus the cancellation fiasco handled in store and online preorders pretty efficiently and GameStop while not perfect was the retailer that handled Pre orders the most effectively IMO they warned customers in advance on when and where it was going to go down.

Also i dont know if target acting shady is just a corporate hing but i even had an in store employee tell em on the day of Rosalina's release that they didnt have her because a Nintendo man came in to take back the stock. LOL i did walk out with a Rosalina however but still

I'm well aware of their online problems. The website is built to handle 1 million orders an hour, call up Deloitte in Chicago and ask really nicely and maybe they will show you the consulting project they did for them too.

And yet whenever they actually need that the site has issues. Being built to handle something and actually accomplishing that are two different things.

For their brand, I would say Target is the worst. They have such a stellar public image, but have put very little money in to having a well-functioning website, web-to-store platform or customer service (they outsource their call center). I'm in Communications/Marketing and work about a half a mile from their corporate offices, and I would never work for them. As a corporation, they are terribly managed and don't seem at all interested in joining the 21st century, although they've done a great job branding themselves.

Wal-Mart is shit, but it's understandable that they don't try - they're more interested in bulk sales of already cheap items. Best Buy, for as mismanaged as they are, at least have a usable interface and US-based service model.

I know these are common but just in case anyone needs them still Mario and luigi SSB are 9.xx each on Amazon. I finally ordered them for my collection

Yarn Yoshi! Yarn Yoshi! Yarn Yoshi!

hmm...

maybe if i say Wool Yoshi! 3x, i'll get a secret code to pre order him

If the US Blue Yarn Yoshi comes in a nice bundle box like this, I'm sold.

I bet if there is a bundle, it'll likely only be the Green Yoshi. ;_;
I can see the Yoshi's being Store exclusives over here.

Red/Pink= Gamestop

Blue= Walmart or BestBuy

and in the event Black Yoshi is real he could be a Nintendo World Exclusive.

Why there isn't a black Yoshi is beyond me. He's the superior looking Yoshi.

i feel like im going to have to buy the wii u game to land one...

this is the worst thought... they'll be no stand alone green yarn yoshi for the U.S,, but only bundled w/ the game

(and a strategy guide "forced bundle" exclusive to gamestop.)

that'll be a douche move but seeing how Nintendo has been lovin these exclusives....

hahaha I don't even want to consider that--it's too horrible. Doubt anyone's ever needed a strategy guide for a Yoshi game. Yet, GameStop would find a way to sell us a guide for something.
