Well'p, I'm officially out of this game. It makes me a little sad to give up, but it's just too much of a hassle.

Sorry, I know it's off topic, but somehow related since it's Target, but any current or former Target employees like to chime in? My wife sent it to me. I have never heard of this "walk of shame" and my store definitely didn't do something like this. I know if a person was fired for things like shoplifting or harrasment, something extreme, it wouldn't be uncommon to see them escorted off by Asset Protection. I mean, I feel horrible for the mother, I just feel like there's more to the story.

I stopped at the Gamestop I had some Wave 3's reserved at last night, and they had Bowser.  When I mentioned that I had a pre-order and was wondering why I didn't get a call, the guy said they just got them in that evening.  I highly doubt that, since there were plenty out on the wall and you'd think they'd make calls before putting them out.  Here's hoping my Shiek comes through.

 
So these have no release date (again) and GS isn't sending out the normal preorder pick-up call/text. How the hell do I know when my Shulk is there?

Yeah, I wish I would have started paying attention to this thread back then and even before the MVT crisis. Totally feel like a dingus for thinking these things would be around forever and I could just wait for a good sale.

Release date for Shulk is 2/13. You can also download their app and make an account and it'll show you what's pre-ordered where and the release date etc based on your phone number you use to reserve stuff with.

So what's the best strategy to try for Shulk at this stage in the game? I didn't think I wanted one until just recently. Do you guys try to get on a wait list with a couple of your stores? Or just get there at opening on release day and hope for the best?

Show up at a store when he comes out and hope they have extra, if they don't hope they'll call other stores and if they find one that the other store will be willing to hold it until you get there.

Well, GS sent a memo that stores can sell amiibo as soon as they get them, so unlikely that they'll stick to that 2/13 date. We've also heard rumors that stores are only getting enough for preorders. Best bet, if your store has a wait list, get on that. I'd set up alerts online just in case they put a small amount up on the web site. Other than that, Amazon Marketplace, Rbay, Nintendo World Store or importing are your next best ideas.
 
Just called my gamestop. ( I used to work there) and The SGA that answered told me that all preorders would be called when the item is received aside from the amiibo having a solid launch date. He made it seem like he wasn't just doing me a favor but it would be done for everyone that has a preorder at that store. Best of luck to the other gamestop preorders

 
Guess I made the right call to stay home today. I had assumed the early tweets in addition to having most people off today because of the snow would equal a ridiculous wait at Nintendo World with no chance to get them. Lo and behold I had gotten lucky and knew someone who went and checked right now and said line outside is like 2 blocks long !!

If anyone is considering it --- stay home and forget it.
 
I've imported an Amiibo, I've pre-ordered Amiibo, I've gone on my lunch break to hit up a Toys R Us to purchase an Amiibo... There's no way in hell I'm waiting in a 2-block line for one! 

 
Amiibo scalpers over-hyped the blizzard in order to ensure they get their hands on all the Amiibo before anybody else. Amiibo scalpers control the weather/media. 

 
Lol, there's people already trying to sell their NA Exclusives from Nintendo World. The prices vary from $100 starting bid to $300+ for "buy it now" (on eBay). $14.50 x 3 =$100-$300 math is weird

 
Apparently NYC lucked out, I've heard the most in areas is 4 inches in some areas. Boston is still getting wrecked though, got some friends there, one still stuck in Austin from PAX South, flights keep getting cancelled.

These will definitely tank but I think it'll trade at maybe $10 above the US pre-order prices (70-80 per) since you can get them first. The good thing honestly is that you're scalping your only copy if you do so and banking on more supply. Unless you dragged a friend to wait 2 hours in 20 degree weather, it's not worth it.

I live south of Boston and we're getting like 1-2 feet. The wind gusts aren't helping either.
 
Just got back from target where by some random luck they happened to be unboxing their amiibo shipment. Rosalina could not be sold as it was street dated 2/1. Did manage to get a Sheik as it had no date on it. As a heads up they received only 4 sheiks but got 16 Rosalinas. They wouldn't hold a Rosalina for me but at least I managed to scratch another potentially rare Amiibo off my list in Sheik.
