Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I mean specifically for the limited edition of it. the others are just shot up currently in price, mostly likely because the LE may be going oop. But yea if you can get them for under 20$ i would scoop them up.

As for Arise i have gotten around to buying it yet, but ill probably get it tomorrow with my mystery coupon.

Because it has been Shaoron or Syaoran for the past decade the franchise has been in America. It's what Geneon used on its subs, it's what FUNimation used in their Tsubasa dub, it's what Tokyo pop used in their Cardcaptor Sakura translations, and it's what Del Rey used in their versions of Tsubasa and xxxHolic. Like I said earlier, it would be like if FUNi started calling Goku "Sun Wukong."
 
Gonna see if some fam down in murrieta can pick up a few copies of hellsing for me. 9-10 can't go out of stock that quick so its just unavailable and to my knowledge 1-4 is still fairly cheap. if anything i'll get the steelbooks. just as long as i can get 5-8

edit: swag, they said they'd pick it up and i emailed them my 5 dollar off coupon. so roughly 10 bucks for it versus 50. it never dawned on me that they lived so close to a best buy. years ago there was nothing there save for a target and now a bestbuy has opened down the street. lady luck loves me 

edit deux: while i wait for the fam to bring down hellsing 5-8 it might be smart to get 1-4. only problem is it must have the slipcover. talking to amazon is like talking to someone in another language. yes or no pal. no need to ask whats my billing address or why i need to know in the first place. I'm a collector first and a CAG second.

steels go to 4, my personal preference would be to have steel books for 1-4 then 5-10 inside of the LE box (if you could get it cheap)

Be advised j that Amazon can not guarantee you a slip. Getting a slip from Amazon let alone any online retailer is a 50% - 50% game. While one member may get one another member in the other part of the country may not. Plus the fact that slips are a first pressing thing as well. Most companies will press them and after they run out that is it. Sometimes there are exceptions but for the most part once they are gone they are gone. Also since 1-4 is older like 2012 old getting a slip in mint condition will be hard.

Sorry just one, I have two copies and flipped one around. I bought one and it didn't have the artcards in it so I bought another that did.

Well after going back and forth with Amazon CS there's no guarantee it'll have the slip cover even if it is pictured with it. Therefore my best bet is to go on eBay and find someone selling their copy. Steelbooks a little too expensive for my taste and its dvd only so thats a little sad. LE Box for 5-8 is about 80-90 still not worth it by any means.

It is a first generation Atlantic Media shelf from Best Buy. Just a heads up the new model that they sale, the movies hang over the edge about an 1 inch or so and aren't flush like the old ones. Mine has 8 total shevles. And each shelf can hold 22 blu rays.

Yeah I wish I would have bought 3 more of the old style but at the time I didn't have the money. I would get the new ones but they would be on wooden floors and I have a child that walks heavy and I am afraid the movies would fall off. Not a big fan that they hang off so that is why I haven't bought any. If I do get one I'll let you know how they work out. Also I believe the new ones do not have a adjustable shelf on the very top.

the thing is most websites who don't have the slip have updated their product listing to a pic of just a blu ray case. amazon still has there's up. which means they most likely do because in the case with evangelion 2.22 and just about every other blu ray release as of late the product image is updated when a slip is no longer offered.

IF u don't mind the hassle then amazon is the best choice, but if ur not in a rush I would just ebay it

One you shouldn't believe everything you see on the interent. Just because they picture shows it has a slipcover again doesn't mean you will get it. I have been dealing with slipcovers/slipboxes, collecting and selling them since 2009. Take what you see on any site with a grain of salt. Your best bet for getting slips if you really want them is to get them on release day. If not you take the risk of ordering it from which ever retailer be it B&M or online and not getting one. As I stated before slips are a 50% - 50% deal. I have know people to get them and then another guy order it the same day and not get one. Sony is notorious for only doing first pressings. As are some of the other smaller studios.

There is a slipciover exchange thread over at br.com that I can direct you to if you are interested. You can request slips there and if someone has it then they will PM you and you can buy it. Or you can do what Fro said and try ebay. If you have any other questions about slips feel free to PM and I will be happy to help.

Was able to get connected to the Amazon phone CS in Washington and its a no go. No slip cover. Thankfully I didn't order it. I'm just gonna test my luck with the one eBay listing or fork over the cash for the steelbooks.

I wish you luck on the ebay route. Amazon is a fickle thing to deal with. I have ordered a lot of stuff with slips and you'll be surprised on how badly damaged they come. I get better condition stuff from BB and RS sadly. And I have Prime with Amazon...craziness...

If you get the SB's post a picture as I would like to see them. I would get them but I don't do DVD's unless I have to.

I wish some of the stuff I have on DVD in my collection was released on blu ray but that is sadly wishful thinking. haha

Thanks. I only do eBay if there are pictures available. None of this stock image shit that I so often have to deal with.

Amazon is notorious for sending out badly damaged slips and they make up for it by letting you keep the product and sending you another but at the same time its such a hassle. I've literally had to email pictures over just to prove a point. You can't send a slip that is torn in half.

I don't know if I'll go the steelbook route. Some of them cost 5 bucks and some as much as 24. So depending on how eBay goes I may have to dip and wheel/deal.

Finally the majority of my collection is blu ray but there are a lot of anime out there that are either DVD only or oop DVD. It's also a lot cheaper to go the DVD route in some cases.

That's not even close to the same comparison. For Goku's case, his name has a Japanese equivalent (written in hiragana). His name is thus natively "Son Goku," and not "Sun Wukong." For Syaoran's case, they use katakana, because they're using it to pronounce Syaoran's actual Chinese name. They're approximating Li Xiaolang as Ri Syaoran. However, when "translated," they chose to go with "Li" instead of "Ri," while keeping the "r" sound in Syaorang. "Li" and "Ri" sound as close together as "Xiaolang" and "Syaolang" does, which is why it's the same, for all intent and purposes.

A better example would be if Japan made a Mickey Mouse anime, and when it was translated to English, he became Miki Mouse.

judging by phonetics it'd still be pronounced the same just not spelled the same. son wukong v. goku v. son goku is a better example. they will all be pronounced differently.

 
well my order of shonen jump 50 shipped which is awesome. bad news is the cover for the final issue of Naruto is terrible. no special cover whatsoever like the one done in issue 46 which was the second to last issue. not sure how i'm going to frame that. certainly don't want to gut it. there is a fold out poster inside.

I figured out what happened.

They made a separate page for the regular sale item, and one on sale on the Wave 1 page is on a separate link, so the one I had added in my cart is on the non-sale price item now.

They also added in the header that the counter for the Ranma will be the sale price counter.

Good that they are making it more clear this year. ;P

This may also be confusing for those who have added it into their cart earlier, and now see a different price, so make sure you don't have the old sku added, and go to that Wave 1 page to add to your cart.
