 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

If you are really desperate for Gundam boxsets, GoHastings has a bunch of them for cheaper than Amazon after getting the 40% off discount. Be wary of bootlegs, though.

I think I might be happy enough with getting Gundam 00 in pieces.

Season 1 Part 2 and Season 2 Part 1 are pretty cheap for new copies on Hastings, I already have Season 2 Part 4 from the RightStuf sale, and the other four parts are all about $6-$7 on Amazon and have been for a while.

Does that sound like a good idea?  I would have to pass on getting the SE versions from RightStuf or somewhere else but oh well.

EDIT: I bought the two from Hastings.  There aren't too many new Gundam DVDs left, but the two parts I bought still are.  There is free shipping on them too.

Only if GoHastings had Mobile Fighter G Gundam Collection 1. I got Collection II from a Pawn Shop, but its hard to find/get Collection 1 at the sweet spot. >

Do a quick search for G Gundam Complete on eBay. Somebody is selling both sets for $35 BIN with free shipping.
For that matter, just about every AU Gundam series isn't that different in price, but that's not bad at all for G Gundam.

Some of the sellers have sold so much anime that it makes me wonder because the prices are below what I would expect. Yet I still have to get Seed, Wing, and Seed Destiny among others.

Is there anywhere I can get the Queen's Blade season 1 & 2 blurays? They seems to be OOS everywhere. MB said they were going to reprint them but they have been slacking as of lately.

I definitely recommend Phantom. I liked it a lot when I watched it a couple years ago, will definitely be rewatching it at some point.

Casshern sins on the other hand was one of the few animes I just quit watching in the middle of it. I watched one of the old school OVA's from the original series beforehand and without spoiling anything, CS is completely different than the original series stuff.

They been slacking the last few years. honestly surprised they haven't shut down yet.
Honestly, I'd be surprised they release another anime title. Rio: Rainbow Gate keeps getting delayed, Koe de Oshigoto hasn't even had a release date(even if it will be delayed), and Ladies vs. Butlers was quietly delayed for a TBA release date(was supposed to come out this week).

I remember reading that Anime Corner commented(since Right Stuf won't) that they've had stuff on back-order from MB for over a year with no word of a reprint or being out of print. So at this point, just consider those Queen's Blade BRs out of print and hope that Sentai will eventually get the rights for them(once MB loses the license).

I know this really is not the right spot for this but wanted to ask you guys a question.

I never read a manga anime before and i kinda would love to get into one.

can anyone tell me of a really good one to get that is still easy to find and not to expensive.

I get into all kinds of stuff from romantic comedies, horror, bloody fights.

I am just looking for 1 manga series to start off but don't want to get a poopy one lol

 thanks for any help

Few manga series are truly cheap nowadays because the smaller ones have only a dozen volumes, which usually cost a minimum $5 each.

For a newbie, one of the omnibuses or 3-in-1 editions would be a good place to start.

thanks for info guys

but now i kinda want 2 sets lol.

Love Hina kinda looks like a cool read but kinda also want an adventure/action one also.

on Love Hina i notice amazon has http://www.amazon.com/Love-Hina-Omnibus-Ken-Akamatsu/dp/1935429477/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390854829&sr=8-1&keywords=Love+Hina and http://www.amazon.com/Love-Hina-Vol-Ken-Akamatsu/dp/1931514941/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1390854829&sr=8-9&keywords=Love+Hina for vol 1

is the omnibuses one just as good as the reg one? and also are there any full sets to buy at cheaper price or a sale i should wait for?

sorry for the newbie questions.

Great Teacher Onizuka is amazing. Read it if you can find it.

i co-sign gto. just finished re-watching it 2 days ago and its still one of my top 5 series of all time. manga is out of print so the only way you can read it is going the ebay route and paying $150+. great series though.

Gunslinger Girl was released in it's entirety in small omnibuses (omnibi?)

If you're a girl or adventurous, you can try Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura, which both have recent re-releases =P

Haven't read the manga version, but I have seen the anime version of GTO and yes, it is awesome.

Omnibuses have the exact same content as the original releases (including splash pages and translator notes) except they are much bigger.

I wasn't a big fan of CCS. I thought the anime did a much better job at showing off the dangers of the Clow Cards as well as handled the drama better. I mean, it isn't as bad as Angelic Layer, but still kind of weak compared to the anime.

Does NISA stuff ever go on sale?
I've been staring at Anohana for the past few days on Amazon, willing it to go lower than the ~$50 it's probably destined to be for eternity--do I use some of my vast wealth of Amazon credit to buy it there, or wait in the hopes of it being cheaper on NISA's store, though the discount may be paltry and I'd be forced to spend my own money? :whistle2:k

NISA sets are almost always cheaper on Rightstuf for some reason, so don't ever buy directly from NISA for their anime titles, except if you need to look up what is upcoming, and then you can go to Rightstuf to check if it's been listed yet.

In other news, it was announced that the next Fairy Tail anime is coming out in April. ANN's site seems to be down right now but the announcement is on the official website. According to this article (http://goo.gl/UrHVds) the new anime is set to have new character designs. It will also now be done by A1 Pictures along with another company known as Bridge.

While I really had no issues on how the anime looked, the animation wasn't always the greatest in the original anime. Maybe this other company will improve on that for them? Here's hoping they at least keep the last anime's soundtrack instead of making a new one.

Personally, I haven't watched all of the 1st series. I heard it ended in the middle of an arc which didn't sound too cool. Stateside, Funimation needs to bring out collection 3 already.

---

EDIT: Just saw this since ANN came back up. It seems Fate/Stay Night is getting another anime in the fall. My guess is that it will follow another path/storyline? http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-01-28/new-fate/stay-night-anime-by-ufotable-premieres-fall-2014

Yeah its a shame they're out of print. You could grab the individual volumes on Amazon from 3rd party sellers. Though the condition is hit or miss. Still I'm sure it would cost less than $150 this way.

I just want to say I also enjoyed GTO, even though it isn't normally my type of Anime.
Hell yeah

Haven't read the manga version, but I have seen the anime version of GTO and yes, it is awesome.
I loved the anime version, but the manga has tons of more content. If anyone whom has only watched the anime gets a chance, try to read the final volumes of the manga. Specifically volumes 14-25. Enough material that could have become a third season. Plenty of new students and better resolution for some characters.

Parts 1 & 2 (BR+DVD) of Psycho-Pass S1 are down to $29.99 each on Amazon (on phone, so no URLs, sorry).

Is it any good? I'm going to wait for a full season release if so. Also, I've heard that it gets pretty graphic--is it as violent as Future Diary?
