Anyone remember an old game called Archon?

Xevious

CAGiversary!
I used to play this game on the computer years ago. I think there was Archon 1, Archon 2 and another verison I never played (Archon3).

It was a great old-school game. Its kinda like chess except the pieces fight in different arenas.

Does anyone remember this game?

I remember it... I never played or bought it, but I remember seeing it on the shelf at a store called Egghead. Did the chess kombat from the upcoming Mortal Kombat trigger this trip down memory lane?

IT was available for the NES...

I used to play it all the time great old game. I have it on dreamcast if you know what I mean

I dont know why but it just suddenly popped in my head. I dont know what made me think about it.

Yeah, I used to have this for the VIC-20 or the Commodore 64.......I can't remember which one.

My cousin used to woop my ass at it every time.

Hell yeah, a great game for the 'ol Commodore 64. I don't know if anybody has played it, but Wrath Unleased, for the PS2 and XBox, looked like it had similar aspects to the game. Haven't played it myself, but it might be time for a rental...

I own it for the NES. I haven't played in a long time though. I remember when I first played it the computer kicked my ass in like 3 seconds.
Someone was working on a remake for this game recently, but I don't remember the site link. Maybe someone else has heard of this remake as well.

*EDIT*

It looks pretty cool. Hopefully it will be out before the end of the year.
Thats really cool! thanks man, you've made my day!

I remember plaing this to death on the old nes, I also think I had a version for my first PC but I can't really remember I'll have to go dig through the nes boxes and see if it still lying around somewhere

I think I still have it for my NES, I never knew there were other versions of the game. I think it had just the twist that a video game version of chess needed.

Wrath did remind me of Archon when I first saw Wrath at blockbuster a few weeks ago. I remember my friend borrowing Archon(Nes) from his friend and bringing it over to my house and play it. That game was hella fun! I guess i'll rent Wrath next time, hope its fun.

Unholy War for the Playstation is somewhat similar to Archon. The AI for the computer
player is pretty tough, though.
