I remember it... I never played or bought it, but I remember seeing it on the shelf at a store called Egghead. Did the chess kombat from the upcoming Mortal Kombat trigger this trip down memory lane?

I dont know why but it just suddenly popped in my head. I dont know what made me think about it.
Hell yeah, a great game for the 'ol Commodore 64. I don't know if anybody has played it, but Wrath Unleased, for the PS2 and XBox, looked like it had similar aspects to the game. Haven't played it myself, but it might be time for a rental...
[quote name='opportunity777']Someone was working on a remake for this game recently, but I don't remember the site link. Maybe someone else has heard of this remake as well.
I remember plaing this to death on the old nes, I also think I had a version for my first PC but I can't really remember I'll have to go dig through the nes boxes and see if it still lying around somewhere
I think I still have it for my NES, I never knew there were other versions of the game. I think it had just the twist that a video game version of chess needed.
Wrath did remind me of Archon when I first saw Wrath at blockbuster a few weeks ago. I remember my friend borrowing Archon(Nes) from his friend and bringing it over to my house and play it. That game was hella fun! I guess i'll rent Wrath next time, hope its fun.
