Ben Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle accident
That lady better move out of Pittsburg asap if it comes out that she was at fault. :D
I am sure she will find a good home in cleveland. Bitch

I'm really surprised his contract didn't have a clause in it requiring him to wear a helmet. It's very common for contracts of high profile athletes to have clauses that protect such a valuable asset. A lot of contracts even prohibit players from doing things that put them in harms way.

It does have a high risk clause, but ESPN said it doesn't specifically mention motorcycles. He wasn't in a high risk situation, as he was in a normal traffic situation and was hit by this bitch that was in a hurry and assumed she'd be let through easily. From what I've heard, I'd put the blame on her, but who knows who the police/insurance would side with in this situation.

Oh I have no doubt the accident is this womans fault...but I look at it as he shouldn't be putting himself at such risk.

No matter how good of a driver he is, he can't control the other people on the road.

Only in Pittsburgh does the Noon news go over 3 hours past it's scheduled time interviewing jag-offs dawntawn comin threw da tubes seein dis crawtch rawket an Big Ben bein Bungled up.

. . .I mean, it's serious and all, but you people REALLY should've heard some of these interviews. Hilarious!

On a side note: Anyone think Bradshaw can still suit up? Yins guys know Charlie Botch ain't gonna pull the biggest shocker since Nick Perry pulled that 666 ball before the Miami game.
How can someone who plays football not know the importance of a helmet?
I have a few friends that played football they always looked at their helmets as a inconvenience. Plus if you spend 6+ months a year in a helmet at work are you going to want to wear one when having fun.

I hope he's ok, but his face is gotta be fucked.

If I owned a sports team these would be rules (some maybe too far, if I'm paying and they signed the contract fuck it)

1) No Motorcycles
2) No Drugs
3) No entering unsafe areas where you may be shot and/or killed
4) No stairs in your home (how times has that happened)
5) No driving (you got money now, pay for a limo and driver)
6) No visiting clubs during the season
7) No dating Paris Hilton
8) No side music career (unless with a major label)

I dont realy get it was this a case of him not wanting to mess up his hair?

These guys know to take good care of themselves ur not doing it just for you..your doing it for your family bad move.

My take is that he probably wanted people to recognize him. Athele's do have a pretty big ego and when your 25 and just won a super bowl im sure you'd want people to notice you too.

I don't agree with number 4 and 5, but the rest are on the money IMO.

LMAO! DVE!
you guys are putting way too much faith into a helmet. What really needs to be addressed are the amount of drivers on the road who don't pay attention to people on motorcycles and contribute to the wrecks. People in cars treat people in motorcycles like crap and don't understand what has to be done to maintain driving safely on a motorcycle.

My father has known too many people who have died on motorcycles and most were wearing helmets and practicing safe driving.
So, Football players shouldn't wear helmets on the field then either. People have snapped neck talking with their helmet. A helmet will USUALLY help in a motorcycle accident.

It looks like he moved to a SPORT bike now, eh? Way to contradict yourself in your interviews.

I hope he's ok though.....
Any updates or anything?
Just that his injuries are less severe than originally reported but I think we knew that last night. The broken jaw seems to be the worst of it. I still think this will affect him on the field. One good hit and he could rebreak something - that's gotta get in your head...

Oh Boo fucking ho man. I am sorry that they died or got hurt engaging in an activity that is 20x more likely to get you just that.

Here is an idea that no one has every thought of how about NOT RIDING A fuck ing BIKE!?!

Oh no....oh noooo. You cant ask me to give up my right as an american to ride around on a deathrocket. NO! I am an american and thus i shouldnt have to do anything the entire rest of the world should change to in accordance to my views.

All that aside. I agree 90% of the people on the road shouldnt be there.....cant drive worth a shit. But you and everyone else knows that already yet they still decide to strut their stuff and show everyone how huge their balls are by riding around on a bike. I can not feel sorry for the people who jumps off of planes or mountians or do anything else that is extreme when they get hurt.

Its fine if you want to do that stuff just dont bitch when someone get hurt. The most annoying people on earth are the people who want to dance in the fire but bitch and moan when they get burned.
Any updates or anything?
Last night they gave a press conference stating his hips, spine, and arms were fine and that they had spent 7 hours working on his face. However, when asked, they said no other injuries have been confirmed. What the fuck does that mean. C'mon, by process of elimination, if you mention every part of the body except one then clearly something is fishy. If you take that with the fact that my wife is an executive at the agency that works with the Steelers and their PR contact had said they were also working on his both knees, you can draw your own conclusions. I'm betting they are down-playing that aspect since it was left out of the press briefing.

This is just another case of the age old mentality of " that wont happen to me". Hope he makes a quick and full recovery but he shouldnt have been on a bike to begin with, it is to big of a risk to take when you cant control other drivers.

Soodmeg...not everyone rides a bike to show off large cajones. Some people ride them because they get great gas mileage (mine makes 64mpg). Oh, and I could either get a shitty car that barely runs - and for how long is anyone's guess - or a nice bike that'll probably run for a long time. I also like the driving experience that accompanies a motorcycle. If you've never been on one, then you won't know what I'm talking about. But, it's like how some people prefer tiny cars, or big trucks, or luxury vehicles, or hybrids, etc. - each offers a unique driving experience.
That being said, most drivers suck and it bothers me how much of a status symbol vehicles are. Oh, and I hate how quickly we judge each other for what we drive - like you judging everyone that drives a motorcycle to have some sort of testicular complex. Seriously. Thanks, but I think my balls are big enough whatever I drive. Want me to stick them on your forehead so you can get a closer look? :)

Helmets can't save everyone who gets in a motorcycle accident. Seatbelts can't save everyone who gets in a car accident. Even so, they're still worth using...ANY preventive measure has got to be better than doing nothing. I'm not sure that the hemlet would have done much good here, going from the vague descriptions of his injuries, but there's still no valid reason for not using one. Your life is ALWAYS more important than temporary satisfaction, no?

I know for a fact that I'm not planning on ever buying or even riding a motorcycle. I've lost at least one family member because of it and that's reason enough for me.

One other thought...I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned it, but Michigan's House and Senate were going to repeal the helmet law. Our governor is most likely going to veto it; I'm wondering if she'll use this as an example of why. On the same train of thought, I'm curious as to whether or not the repeal would have made it this far if the accident had happened earlier.

Its not really about what you drive....no one cares what you drive. Its about driving a bike but then making up a ton of stupid shit to justify why someone got hurt on a bike. If you want to ride a bike fine...but if you fly off and kill yourself it no one fault but your own. Thats all i am saying.

I can tell you that the Suzuki Hayabusa does not get 64mpg. I think it tops out at around 30mpg after a few quick searches. It's known as one of the FASTEST bikes around. Not sure why Ben really needed that. Especially when he's an athlete.

I'll give you the hint - it's the word "fastest."

Plus he got the bike for free from Suzuki for showing up to a event they had. Also from what I understand he has 2 or 3 bikes at least.

I am really lolling at this since the woman who hit him, Martha Fleishman, is the grandmother of a friend of mine. She lives in Farmington, ME, about 6 months a year.

Soodmeg...I'm just saying that not everyone rides a bike to flash their large nuts, like you implied. Does everyone that drives an SUV like to abuse our natural resources? Does everyone that drives a hybrid really give a sh*t about our environment?
And if someone runs me over on my bike - especially if I'm parked - it is NOT my fault. If someone runs into whatever vehicle you are in - headon, t-bone, etc. - and kills you, it is NOT your fault. Stop hating on the bikes already. Nobody is hatin' on "The Crow" and Brandon Lee died making it. Does that make "The Crow" dangerous? :)
As for Ben riding a Hayabusa...yeah, it was probably to show off his nuts. I mean, I doubt he's a racer - sounds like he might not have even been licensed. Of course, he might have just been test driving his free bike. Who knows?
I just hope he hasn't ruined his career.

Wait........what?

I dunno about the size of the fine, but it's interesting how he can be fined for riding without a helmet in a state that repealed its mandatory helmet law. That deserves a sincere and heartfelt 'what the fuck?'

If you read a bit more, you'll notice the law says....

Pennsylvania repealed a law requiring motorcyclists to wear helmets in 2003, but those with less than two years of riding experience are required to wear them.
