FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.
If this has been asked already, sorry. Are the games marked or does the price just come up when they are scanned? Has anyone had a wrong price come up like CC sometimes does or are these prices definites at all Best Buys?
At least at my store, they were not marked. The little white filer card that sits by the games was turned backwards on all of the games on the list.

i ordered online this morning at about 7 am EST and got Ys and Growlanser, however, I just got the dreaded backorder email. oh well! it was worth a shot

For any tampa ppl, the citrus park location is a no-go. One of the ladies told me there was a guy "checking" the stock in the back(more like pocketing all the stock for himself), and that the guy said there were none of the clearance games in stock...

Well, that was a waste.

Is it possible to get other stores to pricematch what best buy's site says?

I hit the Union, NJ store on my way home from work this morning. I got there right before they opened and was one of 3 people wandering around with lists, yet finding nothing. I didn't see a single game from the list there.

When they price check for you at the B&M, do they check the online price? I noticed some games on the list like Spryo: A Hero's Tail for GC are listed at $9.99 on the website. Are they coming up $4.99 at the store? Does anyone know? I'm gonna hit my local ones at lunch when I get off work.

Well, I went to two Best Buys near me and it was pretty much a bust. I was able to pick up a couple copies of Paper Mario, Yager, and Catwoman along with a $9.99 Astroboy. One location had quite a few of the mediocre games on the list, but as been stated many times before, they were all $9.99 instead of $4.99. Oh well, if all the games had been $4.99, I would have probably spent a lot more money on games that I didn't really need.

Just got back from a BB in Dallas. Nothing but Ty 2's and Duke's of Hazzard's for XB and a big zip for the other consoles as well. Yucky.

I saw this coming (honestly) . . . they are so on to "us" now . . . almost nothing works as it used to.

Just a year ago, a leaked sale and list were golden. Now they have us figured out and deny the CAG.

Depends on the store and the employees, but the other day I pricematched a GC game from the BB website (just a printout of the first page) at a CC.

Yeah, at the sale last May I was able to get almost everything I wanted and that was because they had copies of most games in stock and the shelf tags weren't updated. This time, all the shelf tags were updated in addition to the employees knowing about the deal.

My trip was a little bit of a bust. All i got was Otogi 2, star wars starfighter and a 4.99 two pack. Although they did have 3 paper mario 2 and 1 more otogi 2

Didn't check those. Might as well give 'em a shot.

Stopped by a 'smaller' Best Buy this morning @ 9:55. My only competition was a woman returning a DVD player and a guy bringing a computer in for repair.

NOTES: GC Paper Mario is part of the sale - 9.99 (not listed on line)
PS1 Rocky had a .99 cent insert but rings up 19.99
About 1/2 of the games on the front page marked 4.99 are
really 9.99 and ring up 9.99. The 9.99 tags were dated 9/12 -
so it must have been a price change since the 1st revision (GBA Astro
Boy, DS: Zoo Keeper, XBX Scaler all 9.99).

Picked up :

PS2: Y's Ark Of Napishtim
PS2: Sega Superstars

DS: Zoo Keeper
DS: Mr. Driller

GBA: Final Fantasy I/II
GBA: TY2

GC: Pac Man Vs. Pac Man World
GC: Scooby Doo! Mystery Mayhem
GC: Lord Of The Rings - 3rd Age

XBOX - Cat Woman X2 (it was only .99 cents)

did these games show up online as in stock at your store?

completely denied. I was ready to go at 10 a.m., only to find out they had taken all the games, loaded them in carts, and stuck them at the front of the store with new pricing on them on SUNDAY when they got the new SKUs. The only things left were about 80 copies of Enter the Matrix.

Has anyone noticed price differences between the list and online?

Are the store prices the same as the list or the same as online?
E.G. Mechassault 2 comes up as $9.99 not $4.99
Bard's Tale comes up $9.99 not $4.99

Yes. The prices seem to be different in store.
A few did - most did not.
Screw that then. I would go, but there are always a ton of people at my local ones who are complete dickwads. 2 carts complete full of every game they can get. I remember during one of the last circuit city sales, I went there 15 minutes after opening, grabbed one game I Was looking for, and started helping this little kid looking for some GC games. This kid couldn't have been older than 10. So as I go looking, that guy with the carts full of EVERY GAME he could get is in the same section, looking at games and he is next smash bros, so I say "excuse me."

He says "Wait a minute." I flat out push him out of the way, grab the kid ssbm and he gives me a look like I am the most vile of people and tells me "I was going to buy that." I straight up told him "Look you sack of s*it, you have 200 games already and there is another copy of the shelf. Deal with it."

The most intelligent post in this thread.

The stealth-massive clearance seems to be a thing of the past.

Now, you do better with the title by title clearance (Target works best).

I'm going to hit my store (just for the hell of it) now and see if anything is there. I'd be happy with a $10 Mr. Driller and/or Astro Boy.

Ok,

Just got back from the store in Kansas City. Three guys there, two who looked like businessmen potentially from one of the game stores here in town. One guy was talking on his cell phone - "Get those, they're worth money. No, I don't know if that one's worth it...well, get all the Gameboy games, for $5 you can't go wrong."

Stupid Fatwallet!

In terms of prices, I had the exact same experience as everyone else. Went in and found many of the games that were supposedly going to be one price were actually much higher.

Biggest Disappointment: Tarzan for Gameboy was supposed to be $.99, but was actually $9.99
Second Biggest Disappointment: All the other $5 games that were actually $9.99...

Still a lot of goodies out there though. I did find a mom who was in the store and had somehow gotten the list off some other site (a site that posts all kinds of deals - groceries, gas, rebates, etc). The horders had taken all the games and she was just looking for something for her kids for Christmas, so I gave her a Paper Mario (GC) and Ty 2 (GBA) at cost so she didn't have to go home empty-handed.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to trade for Paper Mario, PM me. No sob-stories or low-ball offers though please (I've done my good deed for the day). :)

Just got back from Best Buy NYC, didn't really have anything as I think most people bought them the day before to pricematch today. Although this is good news:

ticket.jpg

Growlanser was hidden away, and I was lucky enough to unearth it, heh. There was another hidden Growlanser that someone else found.
It is because it was part of a value display and had a new sticker UPC covering the original UPC. I asked for a price check (no shelf tag) and it also rang up for $9.99 for me because of the sticker.

Tarzan was 99 cents BUT Its for the new UPC and Since most of the best buys dont have the new UPC they had to charge 9.99 no matter what the webpage says. Same with all of the other Price difference in store... That is what i was told

The Best Buy by the Florida Mall in Orlando was pretty much a bust. Nothing there that I was looking for, and the popular requests in this thread weren't to be seen. The guy working the floor was updating the tags and seemed to be having problems finding most of them. Oddly enough, this was after he pulled all the 'empty' tags, so big surprise why he couldn't find any.

I stopped at the West Oaks Best Buy last night, but there wasn't much there, either. I found a MAT1 for Xbox that I was going to pricematch to the $5 mark, but I think I'll just return it, if it's only at $10.

I'd really like to pick up the Incredibles for Xbox, but I think I'm out of luck. I'd be willing to pay someone who could pick it up in-store with tax, shipping and trouble. But factoring in bb.com shipping to get it from someone who bought online gets it pretty close to the 'everywhere else' price that it's probably not worth it.

I was almost sure I would of had enough time to hit the sale but works calling me in early.

So anyone that can get PM2, nicktoons movin or sega superstars lemmee know PLZ! Im headin out to work but any msgs I get ill return when I get home.
My husband just went to BB (Gaithersburg, MD) ten minutes ago and the employee told him that they haven't received GC prices list yet..
Uh, they were lying. I was there at half past 10 this morning, and all of the prices were reflected at check-out. At least the three games that I picked up. Just take the games to checkout, and DON'T TALK TO THE MORONS.

I got HarvestMoon (though PC), Paper Mario, and Final Fantasy Origins. There was quite a bit left. Nothing like Ys or Growlanser...but the rest of the fodder was there.

Rockville, MD had nothing.

Germantown, MD had fodder, but a ton of Yagers. Had I known so many people wanted this game, I would have picked up a few of the fifty that they had in stock.

After about $15 of gas, I think that I broke even. :( What a waste. At least I have a sealed Paper Mario for my collection.

Wow, it seems a lot of people are saying the deal was pretty bad or they didn't have a lot of games. I hope they still do when I go later today...

has anyone got an Email shipping notice or backorder notice for either

Y's or glowlancer that they ordered online

i order a set sunday night 5pm and still havent heard a thing

Nothing for me here. Pretty much cleaned out completely by the time I got there at noon. Of the whole Gamecube list, I think Tony Hawk's Underground was the only one I even saw on the shelf.

Interestingly, though, they didn't even have slots for most of the games on the list, so it would appear that Fatwallet may not be at fault for this; my Best Buy may just suck.

just went at lunch time.. the unstocked the shelves with all the games...and put out 1080, TimeSplitters Future Perfect, and 2 other games... it stunk...

Well my best buy order has shipped out rogue agent and MGS TS, nothing on my order has been backordred yet(8 games), crossing fingers
Nothing from North Point Mall in Alpharetta, GA or Mall of Georgia in Buford, GA. Found a few of the games, but not at the prices that we expected.
Thanks for posting, I was almost convinced to go give it a try after some of the success stories. Did they have most of the games? Where they ringing up at full price? Thanks
