CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.
That's why he ordered them already, as did I.

If they drop the online price, my order is already processed, all I have to do is call them for a price adjustment.
Thanks alot . . . you bastards last night :) suckered me into this shit.

Now I have an order with games that might match to $9.99 (not the $5 I thought they would) or games I want to keep that they won't match because they are now out of stock.

Against my better judgement I order 5 games last night for over $100 . . . what a idiot I was.

Twinsanity and Spyro I thought would be $5 not $10.

SH4, Astroboy, Crash Nitro dropped to the price I wanted but they might not match because they are out of stock.

I can't cancel the whole thing to save the shipping.

If I return the games, I'm still out the shipping.

LAST TIME that I use BB's website . . .
Wow, it seems a lot of people are saying the deal was pretty bad or they didn't have a lot of games. I hope they still do when I go later today...
Not surprising, Best Buy hates what they call "devil customers" and they keep their games section trimmed down to mostly full retail or greatest hits games.

Went to BestBuy today (9/12), asked where the console game clearance sale is... they looked at me funny. Anybody actually purchased a clearance game at BB?
has anyone got an Email shipping notice or backorder notice for either

Y's or glowlancer that they ordered online

i order a set sunday night 5pm and still havent heard a thing
Slidecage, you've posted in this thread 97 times. Give it a rest. You don't have to give us an update every 5 minutes of whether or not your Growlanser has shipped.
can you say BUST?
YMMV. If the games ship from BB.com, this sale is a total success for me.

Here's what my two nearest BB's had [only in the PS1/PS2 world]:
BloodRayne 2 - 3 or so copies
Cabelas Deer Hunt - couple
Dead to Rights - 1 at one store, 2-3 at the other
Driver 3- couple copies
Freekstyle - couple
Future Tactics - one
Monsters Inc - one
MTX Mototrax - one
Hobbit - one or two
FF Origins - 2

I got Future Tactics, FF Origins, MTX Mototrax, and Dead to Rights.

Every game listed above was tagged at the 'clearance' price on the shelf card thing, but none of them said 'clearance' or anything [ie it wasn't obvious they were on clearance.]

i left this morning early, got to bb at 9:45am and waited for them to open. got in and scanned the list. there wasnt shit, no clearenced games, nothing. so instead of feeling like i wasted my time, i picked up drum master for $20.

I got there at about 10:10 this morning, and the guy there was marking prices. I'm not sure if this has been posted yet or not, but i'm not about to read through the 30+ pages that were posted since yesterday. This is not a clearance sale, it is a price drop. That means McDonald's coupons, GGC, whatever WILL work. I'm pretty sure this isn't YMMV because the guy was putting new price stickers on the little sorting tabs and they didn't say clearance or anything.

Anyhoo, I grabbed a couple of games. I had the guy pricecheck a bunch of the ones that were supposed to be $4.99 and they rang up as $19.99. So to the guys that ordered them online and are going to pricematch, be warned. This pricedrop didn't turn out to be quite as good as was expected, but I still managed a copy of Growlanser for 5 bucks, so I'm not complaining.

I have the sign that the CAG Apacolypse is upon us.

I have hit every major and minor sale since 2003
Never really ran into any other people like us looking
Today?......5 people with lists at 12 noon and one older lady with a list reading "SLICK DEALS" on the top.
The BB employees said there have been about 10 people with a list before i got there. Also their prices were'nt changed at all.
I had the managers interogating me how I got the list and said the prices won't change.
I had Bards tale and an eye toy in my hand and they rang up full price. Times are gonna get tougher for our little now massive community

Well look how many registered users there are vs. how many are actually active. When CC had that clearance, I actually saw a middle aged woman picking through the bin with some sort of list. I dug through it super fast before she could find the copy of Baten Kaitos or Prince of Persia on the bottom. Now not to be stereotypical, but what the heck do most middle aged women know about video games? Your answer is nothing, but they know how to use Fatwallet (which is all middle aged women with no real job) and calculate Ebay values, and that is what kills good deals.

This would be kind of funny/cruel if Best Buy played a trick on the "devil customer" by leaking a list with cool games for $5 and then only ever having 3 or 4 crap games available. I wish Best Buy was closer so I could see what they have, but I'm sure if they ever even had any of the games I want (MGS:TS, Paper Mario, Silent Hill if anyone wants to trade) that they are probably gone now.

I live in upstate NY, a buddy hit the Rochester BBand I went to Syracuse.
For the most part they didn't have jack, though we were able to pick up about ten titles a piece.
However, all of the games that are listed here as $4.99 were $9.99 at the store. Still not a bad price though.

As usual, my local Best Buy (Worcester, MA) had nothing. No surprise, but yet another waste of time going there looking for a great deal.

Personally I'm mad because when I was at BB.com/ and the bloody prices changed I couldn't add them to my cart, meanwhile somehow "Final Fantasy Anthology" was out.

Just called over to BB, the girl in media told me in a half second if two games were in. So either she's got a direct mental link to their stock, or she's a) fielded a thousand inquiries about all the clearance games today or b) just finished retagging all the clearance games so knows them by heart. Just Star Wars Starfighter and Rocky Legends, nothing to get excited about.

yep MOntclaire, CA suck..haha.. the spongebob didn't ring up 99 cents but $19.99.. yeah right.. and the eyetoy rang up $29.99
Series of unfortunate event for cube were $9.99 (not $4.99) if it rang up $4.99 i'd get it.. $9.99 is way too much for this game... I suspect BB pull a fast on on the 'devil customer' as well.. hehe.

Well, I'm glad I didn't make the trip then. It still confuses me why there is only one Best Buy in Rochester. BTW where in Roch are you from?

I went to the Best Buy in Beavercreek, OH. All they had were a bunch of Max Payne 2's up front for $5. Nothing on the shelves. I asked for Paper Mario 2 and was told they arent going to carry it anymore.

Well, at least there's nothing on the list that I want REALLY badly. I guess I just saved myself the trouble of making trips to the BB's in NYC. Sounds like this is a very scattered thing. And knowing the stock of games available here at local BB's, I doubt I'll find much. Oh well, so when are we going to have more deals again from EB? hehe

I tried the only one in Buffalo and came away with nothing today. They did have a few kids games that are on the list, but nothing that great. I was hoping for FF:1&2, but it was not meant to be. If they ever mark Kingdom Hearts for GBA down, there were about 20 copies of that.

Oh, they did have 1 copy of paper mario left, not marked down, but I passed it up since I own it, that was at 12:15.

Beyond Good & Evil $9.99 ($5 off coupon used)
Astro Boy (GBA) $9.99 (was listed as $4.99)
Final Fantasy 1&2 (GBA) $9.99
Second Sight $9.99 (listed as $4.99)
Catwoman (XBOX) 99 cents

I also ran into a fellow CAG (didn't get his name). He bought almost everything on sale. I talked to him some since it is not everyday you meet a fellow CAG. He said he was getting most of them for trade-in fodder. The dude along with his girlfriend (I'm guessing) worked fast and by the time I looked at the GCN section for 5 seconds she had like 5 Xbox games in her hands. He said he was heading to FYE to trde them in for an Xbox 360. Sucks to live in my area if you're a CAG because he cleaned out that store (even got a cart, he had so many games).

I dont want to read through 69 pages of:

" oh sounds like B.S." "im going use my mcDonald's coupon because im a fatass!" etc.

So 9-12 is here is this deal legit? How accurate is the list posted? And is it like that Toyrus deal where you need to make a sales transaction in order to get the discount?

Answer: this thread on the deal request board.. Thank you.. you stupid one comment fucks for expanding the thread.

I'm pretty sure this is what happened. C'mon - this is Best Buy.

Picked up a stack of games that like most here already knew, havent rang up as 4.99 (I got the Sompsons Road Rage and paid 19.99 on it (when it shows up 4.99 on web, Ill PM it on my way home today)... did get a MK Deception online, and a Futute Tactics (.99!!) in store today... not a total loss... but would have liked to see some of these at 4.99 instead of 9.99

Edit... Damn... MK has been put on Backorder... looks like Ill never see that...

i do not see why this isnt the same thing as horading. yea you might be just grabbing 1 of each title BUT they have no plans on playing them or even offering them up for other CAG here.. that is just Hoarding

2 more times i post here and i would posted 100 times just in this topic WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

South Jersey CAG's: don't bother wasting gas to check out the Mt. Laurel Best Buy.
They had absolutely nothing worth getting. the only thing I actually found on the list was Shaman King GBA, and some kids mom (with a list in hand) picked it up before I could get it.

I went by my local BB and they did have a few of the titles listed on the sale. I got MechAssault for 9.99, not the 4.99 the list shows. I also got a couple copies of Catwoman for 99 cents each and Yager for 99 cents, as well. Godzilla save the Earth was also there for 9.99, so I snagged that also. There were a few other games, but nothing I really wanted. They actually had all these marked down games on a table together, which was handy.

North Orlando, FL - Altamonte Springs store

Still some stuff left as of 12:30pm this afternoon. I managed to pick up Lion King GBA ($10 instead of $5), GTA Advance ($10), and MOH: Rising Sun for Cube ($5). All of the highly-desirable games were gone, but they had a fair amount of the $4.99 games available at the now-verified $9.99 price.

Saw the following at this store if anyone in Orlando is interested:
Viewtiful Joe - CUBE ($9.99)
Lion King - GBA ($9.99)
Lemony Snicket - XBOX ($9.99)
Tak 2 - XBOX ($9.99)
True Crume - CUBE ($9.99)
Golden Nugget - GBA ($9.99)
Monopoly - GBA (didn't see a price)
NFL Street - CUBE ($4.99)

I didn't find anything at the location in Dallas on Central Expwy. I didn't look too hard since their game section has been pretty pathetic lately anyway. the sales guy walked up to me and asked me "what brings you to BestBuy today?" like some smug bastard, so I asked if there was sale on games and he knew it was online not instore. He also said I wasn't the first one who came in and asked him about it.................duh I came in at noon.

Edit: I know this sounds like I'm being an ass but he really seemed shifty and just wanted me to get out.

wanted a Growlanser for PS2, didnt see one. So I had one of the Best buy guys look up for me if any stores in Pittsburgh had them. He said they were all out. If anyone got an extra I would love to buy it off you. I did manage to get Y's Ark of the Nepish, and Beyond Good and Evil. There wasnt much left.
EyeToy is $30, not $10. Zookeeper is $10 in store instead of the $5 listed.
Theres two diff kind of thte original eyetoy, the stand alone with the blue box, and the white box that has the game with it. Most of the stores only had the blue one that was $29.99. I had them look up the sku #s..

Just got back from my local Best Buy. They had a couple of the games on the list, but not the ones I was looking for. I did see two people with a list though and one guy who seemed to have memorized what he wanted. As I was browsing through the aisles I overheard one of the people with a list calling someone on her cell phone. "They don't have any of the ones we wanted." hehe

Whoever got what they were looking for, enjoy the games! :)

Well I just went to BB in montrose ohio and they didn't have much. They didn't have a single 5 dollar game. It was a bust, I guess i'll try the bb by my school when I go for classes tonight.

I went to my Local BB this morning 15 Min after opening. There were already 3 other CAGs there with very obvious 8.5x11 lists. Only one had more than a couple games, and they all looked like crap.

My store was either already cleaned out or they didn't have much to begin with. Almost nothing I wanted was there, thank heavens I got an order thru late last night.

I did pick up driller for $9.99, just so I could feel a little more justified.

Hi Guys,
I just got back from Best Buy from Great Northern in NE Ohio. I picked up Ys, Otogi 2, Magic: the Gathering Battlegrounds, and Yager for $.99! As expected, most everything good was not there or the Brooklyn BB. I also got online last night Star Wars: Starfighter for $.99, Simpsons: Road Rage and Chessmaster for $4.99, and for $10 each: Midway Arcade Treasures 2, Mortal Kombat Deception - Kollector's Edition, Mech Assault 2, The Incredibles, and Spyro: Hero's Tail. Now all I need is time to play these games.

Only thing off the list in my entire store was Shaman King: Master of Spirits for GBA, which I bought. Total bust for me locally, at least.

I managed to get Mr. Driller for DS, my BB has a ton of them. There was one other person looking that had a list and a cart that had 5-6 Eye Toys, Ys (was almost mine), Silent Hill 4 and a few copies of Bloodrayne 2 for PS2 and Xbox.

oh yea, forgot to mention.

The lady at best buy said that they expect the games to have stickers for the games by tommorrow. Though most likely there wont be any games left.

Just took a trip to my local bb and grabbed some Future tactics for free after I used one of my coupons, and 2 copies of silent hill 4 for xbox. The eyetoy they had was the $29.99 model :( But I am going to check 2 more bestbuys tonight, hopefully I will find some good things there. Also, if anyone has an extra copy of Y's: The Ark of Napishtim, send me a pm, I would love to get a copy.

Wow, good luck with ever finding Growlanser in Best Buy in Pittsburgh. I think your best bet for savings there would be The Exchange, particularly in Squirrel Hill, but it'll probably be hit-or-miss for several months until lack of sales drive the price down.

Yeah...lived in Pittsburgh for five years. Just keep checking The Exchange, though. You'll have a better chance than you would elsewhere, to be fair. I think I picked up around $2,000 worth of games there for around $550 in all throughout my college years there.

Im about to hit the chino bb and then the puente hills, hitting the corresponding borders on the way, I picked up hulk UD for 25 at the arcadia borders, hopefully if the best buys suck one of the borders will bear another jewel.

Vegas people: The store on Marks and Sunset (Henderson) has like two games, Texas Hold 'Em GBA and NAmco Museum PS2. That's all I saw. Sucks.

Didn't check the Boulevard store.

Hit two Best Buys and didn't get a thing, I could only find a few things on the list, and the ones we price-checked were the Eye Toy (unfortunately the wrong box, I see now, but they didn't have the one with the game), and a Spyro GBA game that didn't ring up. (But now I'm not sure if we grabbed Season of Flame, which is on the list, or Season of Ice.)

But the rest just wasn't there, and no bins to see. Saw some listers, but it's obvious nobody did well that morning.

Reading some of the recounts in the thread, though... I don't know which bothers me more, the eBayers who scoop off shelves and lie about their twenty six nieces and nephews, or the CAGs who grab up the good games others actually want to play, and just use them for mass trade-in fodder.
Slidecage, you've posted in this thread 97 times. Give it a rest. You don't have to give us an update every 5 minutes of whether or not your Growlanser has shipped.
Bellevue, WA was bare. A pair of guys had a basket full of what crap was left. The only thing they didn't touch was Rocky for the PS2.

It matters not, though. There was nothing to pick from anyway. No Y's, no Growlanser, nothing of gaming value -- unless you want Rocky.

oh dude, I work for EBGames lol we have it in stock, I just dont want to pay full price for it, for 9.99 I wanted it bad Id even pay a little extra if someone got an extra copy, but no way am I paying 50 bucks... or 44 after discount.

Montgomery BB got hit hard this morning... there were people waiting at the door with lists upon opening (according to a former employee of mine who was working there today). Nothing had been pulled from the shelves prior to today, as it was a total surprise to the store. I snagged a Bard's Tale and Chessmaster that I had stashed away somewhere last night, but I was told hoarding was rampant. Gotta love Fatwallet. I was hoping for maybe Yager or Pinball Legends as well, but no dice on that one.
