ya i see the shipping charge as well. too bad, because 3.50+ shipping will undoubtedly cause an increase in instore-pickup orders, resulting in mass disappointment.

I checked mine and shipping is free. Must be one of the perks of being a silver member I guess.

Please check the OP, for the link to get free shipping. I pulled the link from a fellow CAG's signature.
Shipping is 3.50 Which is curious, because I can ship a game myself for less than that... padded mailer included. Is Best Buy saying that as large as their outfit is, the can't do it for less than $2?
Why would you even make this statement? Obviously companies don't charge what it actually costs them to ship.

You can get free shipping. Does that mean it costs them nothing to ship?

the existence of an ultimate edition complicates things.

Yeah, Best Buy, another great deal!

:applause:

In for one of each copy, plus a few to sell online.
in for a 360 copy since ps3 controller just doesnt feel right for shooters (for me). ^thx

edit: mentioned the controller preference because i have b:bc2 on ps3 already
Going the other way: played it on 360, curious to try it on PS3.

Wish it was the Ultimate Edition, even for $10, but I'll take it.

Thanks, SonOfMan.

i tried to go thru the free shipping link but it just gave me a discounted shipping of 2.99. weird. its ok, i'll just pick it up instore on sunday when i pick up ac:r.

Sweet deal on a good game, and a good way to burn my $25 online promo code from the Prototype 2 Steelbook fiasco (along with something else I had been looking to order).

That's true that companies don't charge actual cost for shipping... but if one the size of Best Buy is having a sale, I don't expect shipping to nearly equal the cost of the game. Bottom line. It's borderline bait and switch for online customers. It's easier to ignore when the item in question is $20 or $30, but when shipping almost doubles the total cost then that's a no no in my book.

GoHastings has a plain retarded shipping policy/logistics, but they're charging actual prices. Buy.com offers free shipping for games sold by them and not one of their sellers. Wal-Mart has 99 cent or free shipping... Newegg generally has free shipping if the game is sold by them and not a partner.

I think anyone with a brain knows that it isn't "free"... but they aren't making 75% on it, either. I know other companies besides Best Buy do it, too... Amazon is terrible about it if you don't order $25 worth of stuff... but that doesn't mean I can't complain about it.

I view shipping as a service that should be provided at or under cost, much like a to go order from a restaurant. You wouldn't be thrilled with a place that put a $2 service charge on a to go order to cover the cost of clam shell containers and plastic spoons and cups.

Like 95% of all the $5 games I buy, I'll never play this, but I'll buy it anyway for some reason. Might as well get it over with now...

Bah, this shipping charge is making them seem less competitive. I always had to pay sales tax and now with $2.99 shipping, dunno how many things I'll be picking up from them via online rather than search for in-store.

Did they ever say why? I know it costs something, but would like a reason for it rather than it just happening and catching us off guard. I've searched for the last ten minutes and nothing comes up, other than they would be offering FREE SHIPPING on all video games...it is all that comes up, haha.

Well, if GS still has a TIV of $2 and up it would be good filler for the trade in 7 for an extra $35 deal.

They both should but it's possible the TIV on 360 might not hold.
A few to flip? The trade in is $2, not really much room for profit.. I could be missing something though, heh...
My fault. I meant sell, not flip. Selling brand new games online will allow me to make a little profit.
I had the platinum hits version for a short while and it definitely did have the online pass.
Maybe they did at one point, but when my friend was planning on getting a copy he stopped because the reviews said it didn't come with it. We also talked to technical support and they confirmed it didn't.

I just looked into it. There is no VIP pass with this edition, and that costs $10. There is an online pass, however.

Awesome deal!

All DLC (except Vietnam) is included with the online pass, so this is definitely a good deal if you've never played it online.

The Vietnam DLC is amazing, I still play it as a break from BF3 and COD. Worth $7.50 when it goes on sale next.

I'd only buy it today if it was the Ultimate Edition, sure many are in the same camp.

You sure about your DLC statement. Many other sources seem to indicate that while there is an online pass included, it is not the VIP pass, which includes ALL the maps ---excluding 'nam.

Does anyone know if we will be getting the Greatest Hits version for PS3 or Platinum Hits version for 360?

Been waiting for forever for this to be in the right price range. Thanks OP. Now just need Binary Domain to drop to under $10.00.
Does anyone know if we will be getting the Greatest Hits version for PS3 or Platinum Hits version for 360?
Yes, it looks like people are going to get stuck with GH/Platinum hits as I did a store pickup and that's what the email said.
How's the campaign in this?

I'm probably one of the few people who play the campaign in shooters and barely touch the mp.
Im the same as you. I don't like playing game multiplayer that much. I like y own experience where I can do shit in my own time.
How's the campaign in this?

I just finished campaign this week. I mostly enjoyed it, though the actual story is pretty forgettable and ends on a cliffhanger. The destruction is enjoyable and I found myself using mostly lmgs for the sake of tearing stuff up. I picked it up for $10 a while ago and don't regret it.

There is no DLC included with this one since this is the Greatest Hits Version for the PS3.
The game itself though is one of the best online shooters! Its worth far more than $5, this is not duke nukem here that people are thinking if its $5 than it must stink. Your in for a big surprise.
I just got BF3 and graphic wise they both look different, however I am sure its just about getting used to both, but regardless - GET THIS GAME if ur into First Person Online Shooter, the online community is still active.

I thought the single player was pretty damn good in this. I never finished it all the way through, but what I played was a blast. Always told myself I would grab this again at sub $10 price. This is perfect!

I've had this for a while and enjoyed the campaign as far as I'd got in it. I haven't even touched the online and I have Vietnam from some sale and I think maybe some of the other DLC. I really need to get back to it.

Yeah, following my link I could only look up the Playstation 3 version which is not available for shipping. Still, buying the Xbox 360 version for ~$8.xx including tax and shipping is still a good deal for buying it NEW.

Do not fall for buying any EA games used from Best Buy unless you don't care about multiplayer, or add $10 to what they're selling the game for. As far as the campaigns go, Battlefield 3 pales in comparison to the campaigns for the Bad Company's.

Thanks for the update OP.

Same here. Like I said a few posts ago, it's way more fun than the BF3 campaign. But I would rate it below Bad Company 1, just because that game had such a lighthearted atmosphere, a ton of humor and banter, etc. Bad Company 2 has some of that (it's the same characters and voice actors), but the story is more of a serious, Call of Duty-esque "save the world from terrorists" plot. There's less room for the unique personality that BFBC1 had.

Cannot express how awesome of a deal this is for 5 bucks.

Astounded that best buy of all places is blowing me away with a deal.

Bought this when it came out for full retail and it was worth every penny. I imagine if I had never played it before it would be the best gaming purchase for an FPS fan like myself. It's still going to be worth it to take it online. I agree with some of the other posters, I had more fun playing this online than any COD or even BF3.
