I still have that $5 certificate that expires this weekend, and there is nothing else really that I need to get before then, so for $10, I'll snap it up.
I guess the people who think used and new are basically the same thing also have no problem buying "newsed" games from Gamestop.
Omg. When they try to hand me a "Newsed" copy of a game, I give them that look and ask for a unopened copy. I HATE GS. I only shop there if there's something on sale for a great price, or if I end up getting a gift card during the holidays.
I got the Trittons from last week today and the mic doesn't work for me, anybody else have this issue?
Trittons are pretty notorious for that. As a matter of fact, there is very little that I find redeeming about them, personally.

That said, that is a detachable mic, that plugs into a standard headphone jack right? just get a 10 dollar zalman clip on mic. Or you could always just RMA the thing.

Usually when that happens it is faulty wiring going to the jack though.
I guess the people who think used and new are basically the same thing also have no problem buying "newsed" games from Gamestop.
What is it with you anyway? All I said was that I'd rather wait until GF has it cheaper. I don't know why you need to continually insist that there is a difference between new and used when nobody is claiming otherwise, and follow it up with ridiculous assumptions about people being okay with used games sold as new at new prices. Go preach somewhere else.

If you had said you preferred to wait for the gamefly version, I'd have no problem with that. It's hard to argue with a preference.
$15? I'll pass. It's $8 at GameFly for the 360 version. I'll just wait for the PS3 version to drop.
But you stated a price for gamefly like it had anything to do with the $15 new price.

Like most people are saying in the thread, it's not the same thing. If you're gonna throw out a price like it is helping someone else find a better deal, you should make sure it's the same condition.

There's a gamefly version?

I'm pretty sure you are the only one that didn't know that the gamefly game would not be the same condition. Not only did you not know but you also didn't know that at the time this game became dotd...the gamefly sale had ended. People were just stating that $15 was too much and that they had passed on it for cheaper. No one ever said anything about condition. Well, no one except you. Notice how you are the only one still concerned about how others spend their money? Kind of strange, right?

Also...why do you assume anyone here cares what you have a problem with and what you don't?

You make it sound like the GF price is irrelevant. It's not. It's the same damn game. People can decide whether or not the new versus used difference matters to them. They aren't babies that need the very obvious new and used differences explained to them each and every time someone dares mention a used version.

I was explaining my logic in passing on the deal. I can hopefully get the game whether it's new or used cheaper elsewhere. Simple as that.

You make it sound like I'm telling everyone that new and used are exactly the same, and I'm clearly not.

Still, I said multiple times I agreed with you, yet you continue to harp on it, not to mention make the idiotic assumption that I'm okay paying new prices for used games at GameStop.

I don't care how anyone spends their money. You wanna buy used, buy used. I don't think I could say it any better than this:
"It doesn't make any difference to me, so I'll get the cheaper option!" Fine, great, awesome. That is your opinion, and it is totally valid. Just don't assert that new and used are the same thing and muck up a thread with apples and oranges comparisons.
By the way, how come you never responded to my post disputing how the devs have already made their money when the game is originally sold to retailers? Couldn't answer that one huh? Poor cocojames.

I would change the subject too if I was out numbered 239 to 1. Oh my.
I have a feeling this game is going to end up being free to PS Plus members. I'm trying to control myself here and not get the 360 version after reading that the PS3 version freezes and etc. from comments here. I don't mind the 15 bucks, I can do that store pick up thing, throw in a couple of blu ray movies, and get rid of that 50 dollar thing to get that 10 dollar coupon. Still debating, afraid they'll have Binary Domain or something better on sale this week and I'll end up being annoyed lol.
Played the entire story and did a few extra challenges and did not have a single freeze or lock up. All of this was done the week the game was launched.
I'm waiting for the price of the new Honda Civics to go down because I can get a used Civic for way cheaper.
Because games are equivalent to cars. :p

I agree that used and new should be stated upfront.
Look at threads that are for a game that doesn't state this in the title.. the first few posts are all "meh, used" and "add used to the title."
Luckily, GF discs don't come with random stains and hairs.
Unfortunately I've heard multiple accounts of GameFly discs coming in with "brown stains/gunk" on them. Whether that's mud, chocolate, or... well, you get the point, they don't always come minty fresh.
And I'm not saying they are the same thing, so I don't know why you took issue with what I said. But they are comparable. They are the same game. I'm not going to pretend that a used copy of a game in good condition, along with a brand new condition case, manual, and online pass from GF isn't more or less the same TO ME as a new copy just because of the technical definition.
The entire argument is pretty silly. Obviously you weren't saying used and new is the same thing. Still, it's kinda sketchy to lead people to believe that GameFly discs are similar at all to new copies.

Yes, the case and manual are often in great shape, but the discs VERY frequently are not. You probably have the good fortune of being served by one of the GameFly distribution centers that doesn't have a glitchy resurfacing machine. However, most GameFly DCs use resurfacing machines that create chips on the edges of their discs. It is EXTREMELY common to receive chipped discs from GameFly, and while they usually play alright, those chips destroy the resale value and often (especially with BluRay discs) heavily labor the disc drive of your consoles.

There's nothing wrong with preferring price to condition, at all. Still, it's better to know what you're getting into before you drop any amount of money (hence my explanation of GameFly discs above).

It should be noted though that The Run is not $8 on GameFly. It was once or twice during deals, but now the only option is "keep" for $14.99 on Xbox 360 and $19.99 for PS3. This DotD is the best price around right now by far, even if it's not worth it to everyone.

I wasn't trying to lead people to believe anything. There's nothing sketchy about what I said. I just mentioned what it had been going for on GF for the 360 version as a basis for why I was passing on this deal and I left it at that. I figured the mention of GF was enough for your average CAGer to realize I was talking about a used game. I never would have imagined someone would think I meant new and used games are the exact same thing and that anything bought from GF would be identical to anything bought from BB.

As for the post you're quoting, I figured it was obvious that was my personal experience and opinion. Obviously "good condition" is completely subjective. I admit the stains and hair thing was intended to be factual, I'm guessing the odds of someone getting a game with mystery goo on it are fairly slim, so as a general rule, it's accurate.

I wasn't trying to persuade anyone into buying it elsewhere and I wasn't trying to mislead people into thinking GF discs are something they aren't. I just wanted to add something more to my original post than a simple "pass".

Why this whole thread got derailed due to me simply expressing why I was passing on a deal is beyond me. I figured the people here could understand what was implied.

Yes everyone understood that gamefly is used. That wasn't my point. People want apples and you tell them the price for an orange.

to use a previous analogy, it's like going into a deal thread for a new civic and saying "pass... I can get this for $xxxx from autotrader.".

Completely irrelevant even if you don't mind a used car and everyone knows autotrader sells used only. (I think)

I ain't mad at ya or think you're stupid. I was just making a point about old vs new.
I don't know. I really liked this game. Gives me a Cruis'n USA feel kind of.
I felt the same with the Cruisin USA Feel. I like this game. Plus for $14.99 and they are all the Limited Editions with a bunch of extra races is a great deal.

Well, I was just referring to you saying that new discs and GameFly discs are "comparable". I totally understand where you're coming from, I just have to state with some force that they really, really aren't. If you are served by one of relatively few good DCs, they are, but unfortunately that is kind of a 3 out of 10 kind of thing.

I think confoosious can get a little... passionate? I don't know. Pointless arguments and CAG seem to go hand in hand from my experience, lol. Don't sweat it.http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=144758

So I can't justify my own purchasing decisions without you deeming it irrelevant? What makes you the authority on what is and isn't relevant?

You're the one insisting everyone wants apples. For all you know, they're just interested in fruit. For example, me.

Just to be clear, when I said they were comparable, I followed it up by saying they are the same game. I meant it in that sense, not in terms of condition. What came after that probably should have been a new paragraph.

You seem to be justifying whatever you want just fine.

But it still remains that a used gamefly game is not the same as a new copy from BB.

Not sure how much simpler it can be.

Wasn't sure about getting this game but man I'm glad I did, it's not great no but for $15 it given me alot of fun for a driving game.

I think the term "beating a dead horse" comes to play here. The man has agreed with you that a used GameFly game isn't the same as a new BB game.

"Not sure how much simpler it can be."

if it works and is in good condition then its essentially the same. if its not in good condition they will refund you, so your statement is invalid.

the only difference is there is a better value buying at a lesser price, with some risk of needing to return a game that is not up to your standards condition wise.

Like Idiotekque said, you're beating a dead horse. I was never debating this. Or disputing it. I have no idea why you continue to bring it up.

just watched a gameplay vid and the sf level is pretty accurate.. guess i can play this if i get home/school-sick. *sigh* in for 1.

ps cruisin usa comments didnt help u bastards lol. freakin loved that arcade.

did you play driver sf? lombard street is like 7 miles long.

nah i saw it at target clearance but unfortunately overlooked it at the time. that sounds about right as lombard st essentially connects east/west sf. im glad ubisoft got that right since they have a studio on third street in downtown sf lol. ive driven down the 8 hairpin turn section before, soo much fun.
did you play driver sf? lombard street is like 7 miles long.
Driver SF has been on digital sales often lately. I don't know if you're a PC gamer at all, but you may want to watch for that if you're interested.

I really liked it. But I'm a big fan of arcady racing games.

and by lombard street, I meant just the curvy part. They made it so frigging long in the game it was pretty funny. Chinatown also seems to span half the city.

thanks for the tip, its 20 on amazon so i think i can wait. confused lombard st with another in my previous post. lol 7 miles, thats kinda funny. gameplay trumps reality i suppose.

lol i just reposted to reflect that. i like arcade racing games more than driving sims as well. lol chinatown isnt that big, i wanna play it now. dammit
