Okay, So as Mass Effect 3 approaches, I find myself redoing the old mass effects in preparation. However, Even as a HUGE fan of the series, I realize that I have neglected to buy the DLC packs. So with limited microsoft points I need to decide which ones to buy first. I've heard different things about each pack. For example, that the "Arrival" deals with a little insight into what might happen in ME3, Or how "Overlord" is a huge DLC. I was also told that "Lair of the Shadow Broker" Allowed liara to join your squad, but that turned out not to be true. So I turn my question to my friends here at CAG, to guide in the right direction.

So what is the best DLC pack for mass effect 2.(I have already bought 'shadow broker' but you can still vote for it)

Lair of the Shadow Broker is the best, by a mile. Absolutely essential. Possibly more exciting and epic than anything in the main game including the suicide mission.

Kasumi is the next best, because it has some cool variety in its gameplay, Kasumi is a great squadmate, and it adds the extremely useful Locust SMG. If you're only buying one other DLC then I would definitely recommend this one.

Overlord is fun but the vehicle segments drag it down and it's a very self-contained story with little impact on anything else. There are some neat elements, but when you're done it just feels like you completed a particularly long and detailed N7 sidequest, not anything "more" than that. Still worth the money though if you like the game.

Arrival is kind of lame to be honest. You can't bring your squadmates, it's 100% combat with no real character or conversation elements, no interesting decisions, and it doesn't set up anything for ME3 that one sentence of exposition won't do at the beginning of that game. Arrival is the only one that I would advise not buying unless you are just a huge and completionist Mass Effect fan.

Lair of the Shadow Breaker by far.

Overload is ok, just don't care much for the vehicle parts.

Arrival is ok and pretty central to the story as it leads directly into the opening of ME3. But as noted above, it's still a pretty simple segue and nothing mindblowing.

Kasumi is good, but only if you're still planning on playing through the main game again so you can really make use of the character in your party and the Locust SMG. If you're done playing the game other than the DLC, then you won't get much use out of those things. Her mission in the DLC is ok, but nothing super great.

I agree with the others. Lair isn't only the best ME2 DLC, it's one of the best DLC packs I've played for any game. Kasumi's mission is nothing special, but she is a really cool character to have. Overlord is a pretty neat story, but ultimately unrelated to the overall story. I actually liked Arrival, if for no other reason than getting me to boot up with game again months after I already finished it and getting me psyched up for ME3.

I'd say I feel like Kasumi and Shadow Broker are probably tied for the best DLC, I mean Shadow Broker had a lot more mission and story to it, but I really liked how Kasumi's mission, which had you playing a secret agent, was way different from the other missions in the game, plus she was an awesome character that I used in my party for almost the entire game (only thing I wish is that you could interact with her more, because she seemed like such an awesome character, just getting to hear the brief talks about why she stole the things she had in her cabin was awesome).

Is the Mass Effect DLC available in any other format aside from individual downloads on the Xbox Marketplace? Would love to play through all of em this week, but ~$30 is pretty rough for the whole lot.

Surprised that MSFT isnt running a sale in the leadup to the new game's release.

Ok I have purchased and played every DLC and first off I have to say... "Oh....my....Jeebus."

Never has 'every' DLC for a game just blew me away. I think you all are crazy. It's hard for me to admit it but 'overlord' is absolutely the best DLC ever. Like out of every game ever. I literally wanted to cry at the end. It's creepy, scary, exciting, fun, and sad, AT THE SAME TIME.

My second favorite is really, really difficult. It's between LOTSB and arrival. Just by a hair LOTSB wins. Lair is, as everyone else has affirmed, amazing. ESPECIALLY, if you have done the romance quest with Liara. If so it is a NECESSITY. If not it's an enjoyable, awesome dlc none the less.

Arrival is epic, really it is. It involves serious galaxy threatening content and major choices that leaves thousands of lives in the balance! Still it trails ever so slightly behind LOTSB.

Usually the last DLC mentioned would be a comment telling you not to buy it. This is simply not even close to what I have to say about Kasumi. Kasumi is just as awesome, as the others and if they gave me the option to romance Kasumi I would stop the Normandy and kick Liara's ass to the curb. Also as an added bonus, If you use SMG's the 'Locust' you get in this mission is pretty cool.

Remember now that All this is my personal opinions, And I'm not saying anyone else's views on the DLC's are wrong.

I do not know what you sound like, "Rock Star". And frankly, I don't want to know. The voice I imagined for you while reading that post was so good, I know the real thing can not live up to my imagination.

Only get Lair of the Shadow broker. Arrival is supposed to be canon but after looking at the ME3 demo, it appears that it won't have much impact at all (ther was no trial).
How come they were all better then the missions in the main game.

DLC should never outshine the main game, but I find it frequently does...
I don't think they did. Lair of the Shadow Broker was on par with the best missions in the main game. None of the others came close at all to the best game missions. Hell, Lair is the only DLC that was really good IMO. Well Kasumi's ok, but more for getting a cool character than the short mission.

But Overlord kind of sucked as the Hammerhead part was annoying as fuck. The on foot parts and story were good though. Firewalker and Arrival were both pretty meh.

Lair by a long shot. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is, once you finish it, you continually get upgrades and credits by visiting a certain location every now and again.

Im starting a new game now. I bought Lair of The Shadow Broker way back when it was on sale and never played it! I completely forgot about it...looking forward to playing the dlc and the whole game again before Mass Effect 3.
