Best way to turn some old cell phones into cash? (or maybe credit somewhere?)

I've got 5 old(er) cell phones that I want to get rid of. I know they're basically worthless, but is there any way to turn these into something of value, like cash or credit, without much hassle?

I thik gazelle.com gives like $3-5 each for some of them at best and probably only offers free recycling on a couple, but is there any way to get more than that for them while at the same time getting rid of them all at once without a lot of hassle?

No, they're not stolen - I've recently upgraded my company's cell phones so I've got a few old Nokia Razrs (all v3 models of some sort - 1 black one that works fine in very good condition, 1 black one that works fine in scuffed up condition, and 1 silver/platinum one that is in excellent cosmetic condition but doesn't seem to turn on at all). I also have some old Samsung and some other one I can't remember the brand, haven't tested these so no idea if they still work.

Any ideas besides getting nothing for them (recycling them) would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!

Well that's a bummer. I would suggest checking your local "Cell Phone Repair" shops...a lot of them buy used phones for parts. There's some here in the OC that do that.

I ask cuz trade in at the store says

"You must have a valid Best Buy Receipt; or if you don't have one, we'll make every effort to locate it for you. Only the original purchaser is eligible to participate in the In-store Trade-in program."

but the trade in online says:

  • Purchased your item at another store.
  • Can't recover your receipt.
  • Have items not covered in the In-store Trade-in program.

I honestly don't think you'll get much for phones that old... cell phones really don't hold their value very well.

I would consider donating them since there are many companies who put them to good use.
 
Second donating them to charity. Since you can still 911 a lot of old phones are given to DV victims.
 
i have sprint and they give me some credit towards my bill for old ones but kinda depends on how old, also maybe since its a business if you donate them like to the domestic abuse charities you can claim it on your taxes
 
I used Gazelle to trade in my partially defective LG Voyager and got a fair amount of Amazon credit for it. The process was simple and fast; I received my credit less than a week from the time they got the phone. There should be a couple promo codes floating around that can give you a 5-10% credit boost as well.
 
I would also recommend donating them. I remember I use to get those little bags in Amazon for donating them to troops or for the troops...something like that.
