Best X-box controller

snotknocker

CAGiversary!
I'm playing with the original X-box controller which I never have a problem with until I play Soul Calber 2 or Ninja Gaiden. ( I can't consistantly pull off some of the more complex combo moves ) I want to throw down some skinnys on a new one for these games in particular. Preferably something a little smaller and I'm not really finding a need to be cheap with this purchase. What's your opinion? I'd like to know.

I find the Controller S is your best bet. It may be more expensive than others, but is definitely the best of the bunch. Every 3rd party xbox controller I've ever used just don't feel right to me.

The Halo controller is pretty good compared to the S as well. If you have another game system, (ps2) you can get an adapter for the dual shock 2 controller.

go with the s controller, not only is it a smaller, but the buttons are spaced out better to allow pulling off moves in fighting games

Actually, the S IMO is not the best for a game like soul calibur, your best bet is to get a controller like the X-ARCADE, Pelican Pro, or you have some ok skills with a hammer, saw, soddering iron. Then you could make a really nice controller by taking apart the regular Pelican stick, buying actually arcade control parts from Happs and you could have a real arcade quality stick that would work on all three systems for under 30+ your time. Just an idea :)

I use the Logitech wireless controllers and never had a lag issue and they fit very well in my hands. Highly recommend them. They are suppose to be releasing a smaller, less expensive version for people with smaller hands or don't like the size of the original. My 6 year old has no issue with the bigger ones and prefers them.

I plan on doing that when all the other fighting games are coming out this fall.

Also the best controller for the Xbox is the Japanese S controller. The sticks are tighter and the buttons are better

I wish Microsoft would come out with a new Controller S that had a second button either below or above either trigger to work as a 2nd set of white and black buttons.

I know there is at least one 3rd party controller that does this, but I'd love to have an official S controller with that setup.

Maybe they looked at that, but decided they would have to compromise the size/quality of the triggers to pull it off and decided against it?

The logitec xbox contoller is great, I have the version with the cord and it's much cheaper then the cordless version. I got it from best buy

The Pelican wireless controller has that set up and it does make the trigger buttons a tad smaller, but they seem to function fairly well in my opinion.

I 3rd the Logitech cordless. Its on the expensive side, but worth it IMO. I use them on both my XBox and PS2 and have never experienced any connection problems. You can buy them at both CC and BB and if you don't like it, return it. Definately worth checking out.

I enjoy the Controller S. It fits my hands much better than the huge normal controller. However, I got a Madkatz Microcon that is pretty comfy, too. It's small, but doesn't have any issues with the buttons being too close together or anything. It works, and I actually like to use it over the other controllers occasionally, for a change of pace.

Well I threw down on the S controller after about a week the wire kinked and started to crack I had tape it up but it seems fine now. This was a great recommendation and suits my purpose. However I just purchased a Gamestop xbox controller it has alternate white and black buttons above the left and right triggers. The sensitivity and smoothness of the sticks is quite good and the size and fit are comparable to the S. Now the question is durabilty. It has not been thrown to floor in total disgust yet but thats inevitable. Much thanks for the feedback.

I'm totally fine with the big controllers. But then they started getting old and the triggers started getting stuck from constant play of Wolfenstien. So I picked up that AirFlow controller. I haven't even had it for four months and the trigger is already stuck  . So I'm gonna get a new one in the next week. I'm thinking about the S, but it's so expensive for so little. So I'm probably going with just a plain, 3rd party controller.

Well the gamestop controller has taken it's first smackdown. MechAssault caused the assault. My buddy lives and breaths this game and always kicks my butt. Anyway it has stood up to it's initial beating and performed fine when I jammed on Armed and Dangerous this morn.

Circuit City has the S controllers for $19.99 this week. You might could even use the BB Gamer gift card and get it for 14.99. I don't know if they take competitor coupons on sale items, but it's worth a shot.

If you're looking for the Logitech Wireless, try any Gamestops in your area. I found one at a local gamestop and only paid $24.99 for it, since it's simply listed as a used Wireless XBox Controller.

Yeh, I saw that. I bought an S but had a little problem with it (see previous post) I like it despite my problem. I'm still gonna get another one though.

I would lean towards the controller S. I normally use the Duke, but with certain games I find pulling off chains and combos easier with the S.

I just picked up the Microcon and it fits perfect in my hands. The buttons are nicely spaced, too. I recommend it.

S- controller is great for most applications. I hear that the Microcon is a great controller because it's 20% smaller than the S- controller so people with smaller hands can actually use it. Lastly I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH! The Gamester First Person Shooter Master controller is the best 3rd party controller on the market :!: . It is a neccessary part of every hardcore gamers toolbox, if you don't have it get it. But its only really useful for FPS games & the Xbox version is better than the PS2 version.

Why is it the best?

The Duke controller blows, IMO. Some may like it, but I sure as hell don't.

I'd recommend the S controller for the fighting games. Its a lot like the Dreamcast controller, which I always found to be excellent for fighting games.

Its the best because the buttons are all triggers and the analog sticks are both directly under your thumbs. It feels natural. It sounds dumb and gimicky, but it really works incredibly well. You NEVER have to take your thumbs off the sticks. To get an idea what I am talking about in describing it go to http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/237721.asp and look, you will get a better idea.

I don't have an Xbox, but when I play, I like to have the smaller ones. I think they're S-controllers or something like that. It's easier to hit the buttons.
