So I happened to find a list of their games that they are giving some good money on, I guess to compete with Gamestop. Here is a copy of the list. I dont know if you have to trade in more than 1 game to get the deal, but thought others would be able to chime in with their experience. Of note is the hot shots golf trade in for PS3 (if you were able to get it from the sears clearance).

Added by Io: Note that you can also trade games in using this site:
http://ebay.eztradein.com/ebay/
which is handled by the same processor (Dealtree) used for the Best Buy program. In this case, though, you can get PayPal payments instead of Best Buy gift cards. The trade-in values and processing methods seem to be exactly the same.

-----
I tried looking for the $20 and $30 trade in value games but came up empty, if you want to provide the link so I can add it here, let me know via PM.

UPDATED: since it keeps getting asked

1. Can I take them to a physical store?
Games need to be mailed in. If you try to do an instore trade from the website it will redirect you to mailing it in.

2. How many days do I have to mail it in?
30 days from initiating the trade. Mail it in ASAP as the processing time until you get your money differs and could be a wait.

3. Are trade in quotes locked in or do they get valued at time of processing?
Get your games in fast enough and you will not have to worry about this. But the majority believe that you are locked in as long as it gets there before the 30 days are up.

4. Do games have to be complete?
Case, Manual, and working game are your only options. So yes, full credit if you have everything. But we are not too sure on how they determine scratches affecting playability (if they physically test the game during processing). Just clean all smudges and fingerprints prior to mailing, and if you have deep scratches it is up to you to chance them saying the game does not work.

5. What happens if they say the game is worth less than trade in quote?
You can either accept their valuation or PAY to have your game shipped back to you.

Not to get people nervous again but before I saw someone had got the response saying everything submitted before the date would be fine, I sent an e-mail and this is the response I got

Thank you for contacting us. Our limit restriction was effective on 6/03/2010. We will not accept more than 3 games of the same title and platform from a customer (or address) in a year. Please do not submit more than the limit as excess submissions will not be returned. We confirm your last trade-in was submitted on 06/01/2010 and they would be accepted as long as they have been shipped prior to 06/03/2010. We appreciate your business and thank you for the understanding.

Best Regards,
Asher

I'm going to have to e-mail them back because as I pointed out in my first letter, I have several boxes out that were not scanned by the post office, therefore were shipped before 6/3 and I don't want to be denied because their sudden change in rules.

The thing to note is that its Gamers Factory who process the trades (The same people who run the Toys R Us trading site), the same people I have gotten to accept cracked discs, Gameboy games that don't boot up, incorrect versions of different games (Don't accept the normal version of GTA:SA? Fine, its the SE!), and have sent in 10+ copies of the same game to them over the course of a month. IMO, I think they are bluffing.

Unless I'm blind, Dealtree no longer has the option to trade in videogames!!
The videogame icon has disappeared from the list of things you can trade in.

Look back a page or two - they are revamping it and bringing it back in some form soon.

I still can't believe all the different stories people are getting from them on the game acceptance. They need to just say any submissions before 6/3 would be honored as long as they get there within 30 days. Anything afterwards (when they bring the video game section back) will be limited to 3 per game, including any previous submissions you've done (so if you've done 8 SMB you can't add more).

This stuff about the earlier submissions being good IF you mail them before 6/3 is BS - I wouldn't have even known about the new rules if it wasn't for CAG. I never saw any of that when I locked in and printed my labels. There have got to be tons of other people who don't know about that too.

Ah ok, thanks for the info IO. I locked in a trade-in for Motorstorm PR and Dirt 2 yesterday. I'll send them out tomorrow and see what happens.

I locked in trades a few days ago, but had to wait for the package to arrive from GS.com. I am sending out 3 each for Lego Indy on Wii and PS3 tomorrow. I will report my findings in a week or so when they get them.

3 on each platform seems to be fine.

I locked in 4 assassin creed 2 last week and haven't send them out. Should I be worried that they will only accept 3 of my games and sending back one game to me or is it still ok to send everything and get the price I was quoted for? TIA

The problem we are having is if they start enforcing this on previously submitted orders, they WILL NOT send back your fourth game. They will keep it and give you nothing.

I know guys. But since I havent even mailed my package yet, we dont even know for sur if they will honor the original quote. Just another viewpoint I can give to add to our knowledge base.

Yeah, guys. anything 3 or less I wouldn't worry about it. I still have some things to send in, like Assassin's Creed II, that I didn't send in my big rush yesterday to meet their new stealth rules because I don't have even 3 of those locked in. Don't worry about those submissions at all.
Is this normal? I sent in a game that has been delivered but hasn't been verified yet. Another game that I sent in later has already been verified while I'm still waiting for the first game to be verified.
Well, I just went through my notes and it does appear there was a little gap of unprocessed stuff there. When did yours get delivered? I sent in one package on the 25th that got delivered on the 28th and I have not had that one verified yet. Meanwhile, one that was delivered just the day before (the 27th) actually not only was verified but paid on June 1st. And then, just last night when I got all those verifications, it was for stuff that I mailed on the 28th and was delivered on June 2nd. So, yeah, they seem to have missed (so far) that one in between that they've had since last week (it has been a full week now since delivery). What sucks is that it has a $30 game in it (plus a $20 one). I'd like to see that sucker verified - it certainly isn't a quantity issue since I only ever sent one of those in.

Grrrrrr. All of mine are still on 'waiting to receive'. WTF!?!?!?! All I know is they had better allow all six copies of SMB I sent in AND pay me at the full value.

The wait is killing me here.

What a useful post. How about saying when you shipped and when they were delivered to help us out a bit? ;)
Oh, and since this question comes up occasionally, I had marked that a few of these I sent in sealed - no problems with that. I wouldn't expect there to be - this isn't Gamestop where they think you are a thief if you bring in sealed games. I'm sure all these trade-in sites prefer them to be sealed if possible. They can certainly get more for them that way and I don't mind giving them something worth a little more than they expect if it helps keep the program going ;).
I do the same thing when I have sealed copies, send em sealed and figure they're more likely to want them because they can sell em for more. Plus they can't really argue about condition that way. And yes if they return them they may be sealed!
I totally agree. After all, Dealtree is too stupid to add single orders and realize that they're getting a shit ton of one game. I mean, the real problem are the orders of 10. That's why we can still trade 10 copies of a game to GS and they don't adjust trade values at all... Oh, wait.

Hmm. Maybe that's not a good point. OK - how about... Everyone ruined the free game thing at BB with X blades... There'll never be another free game after that... Oh, wait.

OK - another bad example. How about...

The list goes on and on. Eventually, every company will catch on to most of the exploits we run here. There is no way around it. It's a HUGE community and - let's face it - we're all CHEAP. That's why we're here.

The real issue is the people on here that exploit the same deal, but try to pretend that their 4 trades of 3 games didn't contribute to ruining the deal. Or the people that convince themselves that their 2 free games from BB were any less of an exploitation that those of us that have grabbed 20. Or the people that convince themselves that their "2 of each" policy on penny guides is less egregious than the guy that grabs all dem shitz. If you're using this website, then you're searching for bargains and probably, in all likelihood, taking advantage of a glitch here and there. None of us are beyond reproach. It's just that some of us adopt a holier than thou attitude about it. I get in on a lot of deals - but when I don't, I don't bitch. I'm glad for the people that did and I move on to the next one. I wish more people here would adopt that approach.
I was just saying they're more likely to notice something if you trade in a shitload of a glitch/unfair value all at once in 1 order. It's in everyone's best interests to spread out their trades at least by package if not by time. They're locked in.

GS is different because barely anyone can get them to accept multiples of a game in 1 trade. You gotta go back or use another store. And most GS employees could give a rat's ass. The manager may not either if they're even there. GS gets a lot of trades and don't look at individual ones. Furthermore, they ban people on an individual level instead of making more store restrictions, which is probably the smart way to do it profit wise.

Anyways how would they make more restrictions anyways when they already have a limit on multiples, they'd have to change their computer software to limit people's amount of trades, and even then they wouldn't want to if the person was trading in multiples over time, they'd still want those.

And GS does adjust values, but since they're used to getting more trades of items (which is another reason why they often give less) they don't have the values go down as quickly as other places until they hit a larger amount. Without DM's checking they don't know if all those games are 1-2 per person or some individuals with 10.

Didn't Best Buy change their coupons so it only works on 1 item now per coupon... didn't they add the asterisk to denote more easily not for sale items... looks like they made changes to me. Just not foolproof enough yet. They're trying to fix the issue and still be able to get rid of unwanted games.

Yes, every company will catch on. But we can be smart about what we do so that they catch on later rather than sooner. I admitted I contributed to losing the deal. I just tried to do my trades so it would not end as quickly for the benefit of the deal. I do think that taking 2 of an item is not as bad as 20.

I didn't bitch. I'm not making myself out to be holier than anyone else. I got in on deals, I got stuff for cheaper than I should've and sold it for more than I should've gotten. I've admitted all that.
haha. IATCG, at least your tracker said it was delivered, or at least i hope it did. unlike mine which hasn't been updated.
My stuff got delivered around the 29th. I had a trade for three games but only sent in two because I already passed the limit on GS.com for the game so I had to send the other two. Thing is, they still verified the whole trade even without the other game (worth $0 of course). I wanted to include the game that's still pending but wasn't sure if they would be able to tell that in was from another trade.

Wait, they did verify it? I thought you said you were still waiting for verification on an older order? I'm trying to determine if there was a gap when packages may have been misplaced or set aside or something. Like I said, my delivery on the 28th is the one not being verified while stuff both right before and right after has been. Though by right after I meant June 2nd. Maybe the 28th/29th was a problem time?

Eh, I wouldn't worry about those either way (verification at all and verification of multiples). I had some stuff delivered the same day that did get verified yesterday (including a few that were over the new limit) but like I said I have an older one not verified. They seem pretty random with their processing, though they did get all the packages delivered on the 2nd processed for me (4 of them).
i mean on the USPS website. my tracker been saying my electronic info has been received since i shipped it. ill eventually call if it prolongs
Ah, yeah, well that sucks.

Fortunately my local USPS sorting facility is pretty good about scanning stuff. I just checked a few of the packages I mailed yesterday and while they weren't scanned when I dropped them off, they were scanned at the sorting facility before being sent across the country. While those scans are dated early AM June 4th, that should indicate they were dropped off at least a day or two before that so I hope I'm OK there if they really get strict with this new restriction applying to previous submissions (which I still doubt but you never know).

I contacted them about my missing verification and got a pretty quick response:

Our video game trade-in process is currently delayed, and we are working to bring it up to date as quickly as possible. We have requested that this item be looked into and verified immediately. Please reply to this e-mail if you do not receive a status update within three business days, and we will further investigate the matter. Thank you for your patience and we sincerely apologize for this delay.

I'd buy the delay excuse except for the fact that they did verify my stuff that was just delivered on Tuesday of this week!

Skim some posts going back a page or nine(depending on your settings, mine is set to 50 per page)and you'll see that they're retooling it and have added a 3 of each title per system per year limit on games now.:bomb:

Oh, ok thanks. I knew about the new 3 limit thing but didnt catch the retool part. I noticed bb niw shows the limit so I guess ez is just a bit behind. Thanks again. :)

I'm confused. So if I have 3 same game on ps3 and 1 same game on xbox can I still trade them all or I can only trade in same title for both platform? TIA

how do you get it to show 50 per page where do you change the settings for that

For paypal it would probably be harder to make new accounts as I think u need to link to a checking account, but for the best buy one's, you can just create new accounts using friends or relatives names/addresses.

It's in the user control panel.

Oh and they verified all 8 of my games at 5am. KA-CHING!!! Now the waiting game begins for payment.

I have $160 due in from this lot of games.:D Maybe I'll go and see what that $199.20 24" HDtv that HHGregg has this week on sale is like. It's probably some wayyyyyy offbrand, but for $200 for a full HD HDtv in the size I wanted I might just buy it.

Sent off 2 copies of Motorstorm Pacific Rift today, before the current promotion drops them down to $8 or whatever.... I can be patient for the GC.

I have a Motorstorm Pacific Rift to trade in, but would much rather have Paypal. Has anyone been able to submit a trade to the eztradein site since they dropped the link?

EDIT: Just submitted an order with the link from a few pages back, but would still like some feedback as to if anyone else has tried it. The submission went through just like before so it looks like I am ready to print the label and send it in.

You mean like this:

We attempted to deliver your item at 4:01 PM on June 5, 2010 in COCKEYSVILLE, MD 21030 and a notice was left. You may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice, go to www.usps.com/redelivery, or call 800-ASK-USPS to arrange for redelivery. Yeah, I've never seen that ;). Well, I mean I've never seen it before so who knows., but I'm sure they will get them on Monday. This was something I mailed on Tuesday so it is somewhat disappointing it won't get checked in till next week - I was hoping for verification this morning. They still haven't verified my one missing from the week before last either.

As for the ones I mailed on Thursday (when I sent in everything I had pending to go because of the changes) they are still on their way. The will probably ALL be delivered Monday along with my Tuesday shipments. So I would expect a massive verification update mid-week next week. We'll see...

My last two packages were attempted today and they said the exact same thing about a notice being left......

So one of the games that went "missing"(received but not verified) was just verified. Now all I'm am missing is Dante's Inferno for PS3.

so i am going to send in 3 copies of Motorstorm to Bestbuytradein.com . I've already sent a few to eztradein.com. Now we CAGs know its the same company - but will they enforce the 3 per year rule across sites? I'm leaning towards no

I sent 6 copies of SMB in one package. They were delivered on 6/1 according to USPS. Still says not received on eztradein's site. Sent 3 of same game that was delivered on 6/4. They have been verified. Hopefully the others get verified soon!

If they don't accept them because of the new limit I will be pissed. You would think we would be "grandfathered" into the old rules if the system let us submit them.

If you locked in the trades prior to them enacting the 3 per year rule then I don't see a problem with it, but don't be shocked if they just make those new copies disappear and you never get paid.

Well due to the 3 per platform limitation, if there's freebies (cheapies too), then I'll probably make future trades to gamestop or amazon...or spread them out. Not a bad idea considering some titles go on sale @ different places. So it could be beneficial in those circumstances to have credit spread out.

I hope they adjust their system to block more than 3, so we don't have to track how many of a game we've sent each year. But maybe they'll just want to keep em and refer to the fineprint...

Just to follow up my earlier post (was on my phone then) I had contacted them about my missing submission from May 28th and they said (in a pretty rapid response) that they would look into it and verify it ASAP. Nothing has happened since then. I had Dante's Inferno PS3 and another game in there. Everything else I sent that week before and after got verified. I wonder if there's a problem with Dante's Inferno - possibly the misleading subtitle of "Divine Edition" because maybe to someone that makes it seem like am LE or something though it is just the name of the PS3 version. In any case, they didn't even verify the other game I sent along with it so I don't know what's up with that.
I hope they adjust their system to block more than 3, so we don't have to track how many of a game we've sent each year. But maybe they'll just want to keep em and refer to the fineprint...
With this multi-day shutdown to revamp it, they better do that. Or at the very least pop up a warning saying how many copies of something you have submitted in the past and telling you clearly at that time that they won't accept more than 3. I still have yet to see this limit anywhere so had I not been reading this thread I wouldn't have known about it and would be pretty pissed if I sent stuff in 2-3 weeks from now and they just kept it and referred to fine print they implemented after I submitted my trades. I don't see how they can do anything but accept anything submitted up till June 3rd no matter when it is mailed in. Make all the restrictions you want going forward from that point, but you can't entice people to send stuff in and then say, "Sorry, we changed the rules and we're keeping your stuff and not paying for it". I mean, heck, why don't we go in together on a game trading site that says we offer $100 per game. We'll pay for the first few submissions, but then after a few days we'll change the fine print to say the games have to arrive the day you submitted the trade or it is invalid and we won't return them .

They verified 10 copies of dark void for me yesterday shipped them out may 28th

im a little concerned though because i got that same message about not bieng able to be delivierd
