So I happened to find a list of their games that they are giving some good money on, I guess to compete with Gamestop. Here is a copy of the list. I dont know if you have to trade in more than 1 game to get the deal, but thought others would be able to chime in with their experience. Of note is the hot shots golf trade in for PS3 (if you were able to get it from the sears clearance).

Added by Io: Note that you can also trade games in using this site:
http://ebay.eztradein.com/ebay/
which is handled by the same processor (Dealtree) used for the Best Buy program. In this case, though, you can get PayPal payments instead of Best Buy gift cards. The trade-in values and processing methods seem to be exactly the same.

-----
I tried looking for the $20 and $30 trade in value games but came up empty, if you want to provide the link so I can add it here, let me know via PM.

UPDATED: since it keeps getting asked

1. Can I take them to a physical store?
Games need to be mailed in. If you try to do an instore trade from the website it will redirect you to mailing it in.

2. How many days do I have to mail it in?
30 days from initiating the trade. Mail it in ASAP as the processing time until you get your money differs and could be a wait.

3. Are trade in quotes locked in or do they get valued at time of processing?
Get your games in fast enough and you will not have to worry about this. But the majority believe that you are locked in as long as it gets there before the 30 days are up.

4. Do games have to be complete?
Case, Manual, and working game are your only options. So yes, full credit if you have everything. But we are not too sure on how they determine scratches affecting playability (if they physically test the game during processing). Just clean all smudges and fingerprints prior to mailing, and if you have deep scratches it is up to you to chance them saying the game does not work.

5. What happens if they say the game is worth less than trade in quote?
You can either accept their valuation or PAY to have your game shipped back to you.

Alright, in terms of PayPal payments, this is truly ridiculous. I have things verified on 6/9, 6/10, 6/11 and 6/15 with no payment yet

Im expecting it to either take the full 14 days after verification on the paypal site, a series of mass payments on July 1st or no payments at all. It's definitely not occurring after the trade-in lapse in its 30 days. I have 2/3 estimates turn to completed (I sent in a partial order) on the 20th... while the third sits in "accepted"

Well, the last of my Dealtree trades is done. I just received 2 gift cards totalling $375 from Best Buy. With that, I am finally done with them. It was fun while it lasted......:applause:

Pretty sweet. All of my trade payments showed up today in the form of a single giftcard for the total value. Time to go do some shopping!

I'm probably being pretty stupid, but I'm actually sending in a few more games today. These were estimates I got back when things were $25 and I haven't sent any of these particular games in yet (so no problem with the 3/game limit). I am only sending in about half of what I have estimates for though. I'm either just keeping the rest or sending it to Gazelle for $5 less (for example instead of sending God of War III to Dealtree for $30 I'm sending it to Gazelle for $25).

How many are we talking about?
How many are we talking about?
Well, last week I sent one game in (no verification yet on that one even thought they got it on Wednesday). Today I was planning on sending 2 games in (but it was 2 estimates of 2 games each - I'm holding one from each pair back). Then I have one more I was thinking of sending tomorrow. So, not a lot - but I have several that I'm waiting on payment for that have been verified as long ago as the 10th. And then of course there is the "missing" package of 2 games that they got on May 28th and have yet to even verify.

I had held off on these last submissions because I wanted to get payment for the earlier ones I sent in first. I'd hate to send more in if they have no intention of paying. But on the other hand, if it is just a slight delay and they will pay, I'd hate not to send them in and miss out on my $25 quotes! So I figured I'd split the difference and send 1 of the 2 games from each my 3 remaining estimates.

In one case (Assassin's Creed II), I actually just started playing it this weekend after finishing up God of War III and I am really enjoying it. I think I like it better than all the other games I've sampled because of this trade-in promo (Dante's Inferno, Bayonetta, and God of War III so far - completed them all and locked in trades where I at least break even off what I paid for them). I had no idea it was set in Italy and since I've been to some of the places featured in the game so far and that is pretty cool. Plus I enjoy not having to fight over-the-top bosses every 5 minutes like in those other games.

It was my intention to play it for a few days then send in the 2 copies I got to fulfill my trade-in quote. But I'm taking it pretty slowly and still have a long way to go to finish it so I'm going to keep a copy and just send in 1 of them. Even after I finish it I may get it out every so often just to explore Florence ;).

I just picked that up this weekend on the GS B2G1T2 promotion :) I had it before, but BB paid me $30 for it, so off it went. I'm looking forward to playing through it a little. It's one of those games that you can take slow and put it down in between playings, so I like that.

Got my last BB GC today for $150. I am done with these guys for a while.

Yeah, I got two copies from GS for about $35 and also got 2 $10 coupons from the purchase. Surprisingly they both came complete. So, assuming I get $25 for the one I send in, I get to to keep a copy for $10 + have the 2 $10 coupons to use at Gamestop.com later. Not bad.

After the way the first one ended up spoiling the immersion within the first half hour, I couldn't even be bothered to buy the second one. As far as games you can put down between playings, I'm finding myself having to virtuall throw the controller out of my hands to stop playing Red Dead Redemption when I wanna stop for the night.

I finally made it down into Mexico in the game the other night and I keep getting distracted by hunting and all of the various random side missions and events.:D

I also want to start playing Bad Company 2, but there's a 420mb fuckin' patch for it and that's put me off of playing it every time I've popped it in. Maybe I'll just stay logged out of PSN while trying to play it, since I have a feeling it's probably some sort of patch to fix multiplayer anyway and I don't plan on playing mp.

All in all it took 20 days to turn $50 into $125. (Mailed in my shipment on June 1st and got my gc June 21st). Not the best trade in service, but hey what can you expect...

wtf is up with DealTree man? I know there's prob been LOTS of talk about them in this thread but this is f'in ridiculous how long it takes to get payment...

Wow, that was nice/unexpected - my gift card arrived today, but I never received the "we're sending it" email. Just the games verified email. I thought they sent one when sending the card? Either way I'm not complaining... other than their total unbusiness-like behavior with non-giftcard payments. Has anyone thought of filing a BBB complaint? They (dealtree) are an A- accredited BBB member. Maybe if everyone that's been complaining filed, they'd start to take notice. I dunno. I've had good success with complaints getting problems resolved with companies (albeit slowly) when customer service channels fail.
All I'll say about Assassin's Creed II is, "It's-a-me, Mario!!!"
I laughed when I saw that (just the other night). I told my 7 year-old about it, and he asked me if Nintendo would sue .

Anyway, I was in GS today and I saw the case for the new AC game coming out - I really haven't paid any attention to new releases or E3 announcements and I had no idea. But this one is set in Rome and shows the Pantheon on the back cover. Dude, I am so getting that - that was one of my prime destinations when I was in Rome (being that it is one of the few ancient Roman buildings still nearly wholly intact). But, I will probably wait till it drops like a rock as all Ubisoft games eventually do.

Yeah, so off topic, but I figured it was better than posting a picture of a tumbleweed to represent the news from Dealtree...

I'm expecting (hopefully tonight) to get a verification email for something they got mid-week last week. At least if that comes through it shows they are still doing something.

The one thing they are good about is cancelling trade-in estimates. I sent in several cancellation notices last week on extras I had submitted or on ones I redid later to change the mix of the games I was sending. They processed all of those same day or the very next day .

How do you cancel? Is it really necessary, I thought it would just expire?

So does anyone know if I can trade in 3 games of the the same platform for each system like 3 assassins creed for the ps3 and 3 for the xbox 360?
How do you cancel? Is it really necessary, I thought it would just expire?
It's on the site.
How do you cancel? Is it really necessary, I thought it would just expire?
If you go to the Support link along the side there is an option to cancel as one of the reasons you are contacting them. Yeah, sure, I guess they would expire. I did it for two reasons though. First, I just wanted to clean up my account list since I had verifications, payment pendings, and waiting to receives all scattered about. I cancelled the ones I was sure I would never do to make it a little neater and cleaner and easier to track. But also, I figured they might be more responsive to my missing games from 5/28 if I got rid off all the extra submissions (as many were over the limit of 3 even though I put them in well before that stealth change in policy). I had a few SMB I cancelled as well as some other stuff. I figured they would appreciate that, though clearly it hasn't made any difference.

That's the idea. Though, really, I don't think they enforced the limit on anyone even if they sent them a day or two after the policy change. No one has reported having stuff rejected for that reason, anyway.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I haven't even bothered to e-mail them to cancel the excess SMB estimates I made last month, just because I'd rather let them stew with the prospect that I could send another batch of SMBs. I've pretty much hit my limit in dealing with them.

i have estimates from april when it started so they don't expire after a month, altho I need to cancel the ones im not gonna do like shrek forever after hoping it would drop n be free at bestbuy this month...

yeah AC brotherhood will be a wait till its 20 or cheaper, considering it is supposed to be a multiplayer AC and ubisoft drops so fast :)

i sent in a few more monkey balls i got and some blurs. and iamthecheapestgamer, y would u play bad company 2 without multiplayer? thats the core of the game.

On the other hand, they could be delaying payments because they are factoring in the potential of having to pay out for all the outstanding valid estimates. I would encourage everyone to cancel anything they aren't intending to send in as it may give them a little more hope that they won't be swamped under by tons more worthless games ;).

No, I mean for everyone here anxiously waiting on games verified on the 8th and beyond that haven't been paid yet! I don't expect anyone not currently waiting for payments to bother with this - but if you are, I would encourage you to cancel any excess ones. I did my part in cancelling 10 or so estimates. I have a few more I will be doing tonight as well.

I was being facetious. I sent them the request. :)

Well, I thought so, but I didn't want to make it seem like I wanted everyone to make sure I got paid (though I wouldn't mind ;)). I know there's lots of us here waiting for payment, so it might have some effect if we all clear out old estimates.
How are people getting giftcards before paypal
My guess:

1) The Best Buy trade-in program is more high profile so they make sure to pay that out relatively quickly.

2) Giving out gift cards is not as "bad" as paying out via PayPal. They know that will get spent in store so they don't lose as much even on a losing trade-in. I'm not sure of the exact relationship (Best Buy owns Dealtree, right?) but either they split the cost on gift cards or Best Buy subsidizes it, or whatever. The straight PayPal option costs them more in any case.

Still, I expect we will get paid this week and all will be forgiven (except for the "dead zone" packages - they are really starting to piss me off over those).

sure hope you're right IO. I really don't have that much pending but would be nice to have about $71 extra dollars in my pocket for walk-around money
The BBB never helped when I tried to report one of those scammy 'referral' things, where you sign up, do some offers and then they're supposed to ship out X or Y item to you.

Mind you, one or two of them were legit, but they completely ignored the complaint and filed it as resolved and I never got the item from the company that I was supposed to.

Although I DID get a copy of GTA: San Andreas from another company just like them for the same rigamarole.

What I'm trying to say here is that the BBB are a bunch of fuckin' pansies who will do the absolute minimum to help. At least that's the feeling I got from their 'efforts' on my behalf.
I understand, and you're right it probably wouldn't do any good anyways. I just usually use the BBB when stuff like this happens and in my experience it's always worked out nicely. Got sent a pair of free skullcandys from the company after I complained that they weren't honoring their warranty. Also, I had a set of altec lansing computer speakers that had malfunctioned (some inner part MELTED). It was 3 years AFTER the warranty had expired, but I ended up complaining to the BBB because I researched it and it turns out the melting was a known design flaw manufacturing defect. I sent a complaint explaining the situation (not asking for anything in return, just wanting to blow off some steam and say how bad the company sucked) and a month later, altec lansing had sent me a brand new 5.1 speaker set.

buuuuuuuuut in this case I doubt jack squat would happen... but when you look at their bbb record, 85~% of their cases were marked as "company made good to resolve customer's issue, customer was satisfied with the resolution", more or less. So who knows?

fucking deal tree... It's been 22 days since you received my items. PAYMENT please. I usually don't mind waiting, but this is ridiculous. I didn't even send them that many fucking monkey balls. I sent in a whole 3. The other games I'm waiting on them paying me for all games they can make money off of...

I just sent a complaint through bbb's site, hopefully it'll do something.

@io

Same thing happened to me, my package was delivered on 05/27 and I still haven't received any confirmation emails. I have a package that was delivered on June 4th, and I already received the confirmation emails but still yet to received the payments.

you guys understand the BBB has no legal authority right? Their BBB stickers on shops are about the same as AAA approved. I never bother with them.

I believe today is day 13 of no paypal payments for anyone.

Did you try calling dealtree? I had a delivery that never changed status and after calling a couple times i got it all taken care of.

Well, I guess it's time to change that 85%, don't you think?

If I was in the group that had games lost around the 27th I would probably go postal on their butts. Since you have confirmation that the games were delivered, there really is no way they can get out of paying for them if you ask me.....

So I take it that no one has yet gotten an explanation on the "dead zone" period of deliveries--no confirmation that they've been lost, stolen, or U.F.O. abducted? I plan to contact them again in a couple of days.

I got my first Gift Card yesterday, $150 for 6x Super Monkey Ball that were verified on 6.8 and 6.9. My shipment of Lego Indy 2's moved to Payment Pending this morning, so I should have another $150 GC in a week.

That would basically make it a 3 week turnaround from estimation, to ship, receive, verify, and pay. Lame.
I've had items verified on 6/9 and 6/11 and I'm still waiting for my Paypal payment. :bomb: This is getting annoying.
Hooray, I just got my payments. They must have known I complained about it.

About time, I just received a paypal payment for two games that were verified on 6/9 and 6/11. I was starting to regret sending 3 copies of Blur in yesterday, but this makes me feel more confident now. Hopefully everyone else will receive their payments as well.
