Thought this was worthy of a new thread. Its back! And with a vengeance. As of this writing its at [see title]. Link

And for those that dont know, the amount of uses for this promotion seems to be doubling at a steady rate, now at 40 uses per account, and the maximum amount you can get back PER A SINGLE TRANSACTION was reduced from $250 to $200. The total culmulative cashback allowance is capped at $2,500.00 per calendar year.

How this works:

If you dont already know about this, its a very simple promotion offered by Microsoft in order to promote usage of their search engine live.com. All you have to do is go to www.live.com and search for something common, like "Wii" as in nintendo wii. In the Sponsored sites at the top you will see a link to Wii's on ebay with a small logo next to it that says Live Search Cash Back and below that "You may get xx% off paypal eligible". When you click on the cash back logo it takes you to ebay and BIN (Buy It Now) auctions for Wiis. From there you simply use the ebay search function to find the BIN auction for the item you desire and purchase it. When you click the BIN button prior to clicking on Commit to buy you should see a message below with the Cash Back you are eligible to recieve. Once you buy the auction pay for it with paypal and give it an hour. Eventually you'll get a message in your ebay account saying "You've earned cashback" simply click on it and follow the instructions. If you dont have one you'll be asked to create a live account. I believe most people will already have an existing live acct due to their Xbox, MSN, or Hotmail associations so feel free to use that if you like. This is quick, and thus far i havent gotten any spam due to it, nor have i read of anyone getting any spam. And thats it, 60 + 15 days later [they allow a buffer period incase you return what you bought] you can redeem the money.

So to summarize

1. use live.com search engine to find any product on ebay. Any keyword is as good as another, hence i used "wii" as an example.

2. Once activating the link use ebay.com to browse for the Buy It Now auction you desire and purchase and pay with paypal. Wait until you get a message from ebay and get your cash back with your live account. This can take a few hours.

3. ~75 days later its in your pocket. [60 days before you can redeem and then an additional 2 weeks before it actually transfers into your paypal account]

Again this is just a promotion by MS to promote use of their search engine, theres no catch. You dont have to promise your first born nor random legs or limbs. Its as simple as it sounds.

Some things to note

-This promotion is limited to only US residents.

-You must pay with paypal and it must be a BIN auction.

-It takes about 75 days to recieve the actual money which will be in the form of a FEE FREE deposit into your paypal account. From there you can spend it or transfer it into your checking or simply request a check.

-If you return the item you purchased and used the promotion on you LOSE the refund.

-This is only valid for Ebay user/store auctions on Ebay.com. No live auction or ebay motors etc.. Though i think you can get away with buying international auctions you're watching on ebay.com. I also noticed that this works if you're offered a "Second chance" on an item you bid on since it turns the auction into a BIN.

-You may only use this a maximum of 40 times per ebay account per person. A few people are reporting success using different ebay accounts with the same cashback account in order to achieve more than 20 uses. YMMV.

-Maximum of $200 back PER AUCTION [$2,500 Cap per account] and the percent savings does vary and can change without notice.

Rest of the terms are here:
http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html

I recommend at least skimming them. Enjoy.

Couple additions

"Instant" Cashback is now available. However, to quote "Instant cashback will be eligible for some, but not all users." Its unknown what the criteria is to be "eligible". I would not suggest you make a purchase unless you dont mind waiting.

Ebay/Paypal Coupons WILL stack with this. The amount is deducted off the full auction value. IE 10% Coupon applied to $100 purchase will save you $10. If the Cashback percent is 25% you will still get $25 additional back for a total savings of $35. Usually the Ebay/Paypal coupons have a maximum savings of $100 for a maximum total of $300 saved on any single purchase. This also stacks with other promotions run by Bigcrumb/ebates where you can earn some more money back based on an items selling fees.

Don't do this. "Wii fit" still gives you 25% off after it takes you to the seller stores. You can then work your way out of the store and shop as normal, looking for eligible items.

Forget 20% when you can get 25%.
You're preaching to the choir, I'm just saying that it's worth the extra couple minutes to try a code sometimes instead of writing it off completely. Whose to say there won't be more exceptions like the november code? That code was also supposed to be tied to accounts, but sometimes worked for folks. I know I had to try it 3 times on the same purchase before it'd work.

Edit:...and that purchase was to get 40% off a PS3!!!
Yeah, I tried that page full of Ebay codes to no avail. I tried most of them 5-6 times, and nothing happening.

I was able to find a $15 off coupon at Buy.com to buy the Xbox 360 Elite bundle. Activating the coupon took me to Buy.com's website to get the deal and check out. The buy.com store on Ebay doesn't sure Ebay's checkout, anyways.

Long story short, my original price of $398.99 was shot down to $383.99, and I'm eligible for $99.75 off, bring the final total with shipping to $284.24. Had I been able to use the 30% cashback on Cyber Monday, my total would have been $279.29, so I'm just $5 off. Not bad.

The Casback email didn't hit my Ebay My Messages, so I had to call Ebay and have them manually stimute the process. I eventually got the "You've earned a cash back from eBay!‏" message.

The money didn't show in my live cash account yet, so I started a ticked with microsoft and things all look fine, now, but it was some process.

I went to the 60 days, and they said they'd send it to my paypal account. I'm curious how long before its transferred into the paypal account. I mean i know it generally takes 3 days for paypal into bank account transfers but how long before the cashback into the paypal account?

Once you choose to transfer your cashback balance of $5+ to PayPal it can take another 3-5 business days before the funds show up in your PayPal account. My last balance transfer took 3 business days.

I purchased a MGS LE 40GB PS3 over the weekend with both 30% (non-instant) cashback and 10% off eBay coupon. So I got it for 40% off or under $260 shipped. I think it's a good deal.

The cashback will be deposited in my PayPal account with no fee in 60 days, right? I'm a PayPal premium member and I hate to have PayPal take 3% out of it.

So, you will have to go into your cashback account and transfer the money to your PayPal account? Then from your PayPal account you transfer it to your bank account if you want it in cash?

****I am not talking about 'ebay' cashback**** Since there is no other cashback thread I am posting this here:

I am talking about "TARGET.com". They are 20% cashback right now. This is the first time I have seen them offer cashback.

Just got a Garmin C550 for $100 after the Cashback (wish i would have got this yesterday though when it was 30% off). This is factory refurbished but says it comes in the box with everything and has a 1 yr warranty. It also comes with a carrying case!

How do you stack a Buy.com coupon with an eBay auction? I know that a Buy.com eBay auction uses a third-party payment system but I did not see anyplace to put a coupon code.
I don't trust those refurbs.
Neither do I actually, and I am considering getting a Garmin GPS right now. But from what I hear, brand new versions are not sealed either, so I'm wondering how exactly I'm supposed to tell if a seller who claims he's selling a brand new one is not sending me a refurbished one.
How do you stack a Buy.com coupon with an eBay auction? I know that a Buy.com eBay auction uses a third-party payment system but I did not see anyplace to put a coupon code.
You actually don't enter a coupon code, at all.

The first page of Ebay checkout confirms the Microsoft cashback deal and tells you how much you'll be getting back.

The second page takes you to PayPal, where you can select your address and funding sources and enter a coupon code. From my experience the Buy.com coupon codes did not work here, but Ebay codes could be entered and were acknowledge (though all of mine were invalid).

Next, you're told you're leaving Ebay to enter Buy.com's checkout system. From here you select Buy.com's shipping options (such as Free or $4.99 for faster shipping).

From here, I deviated from the system and didn't advance to the next page within that web browser. I found a Buy.com coupon (see the links I provide in an earlier post) and clicked the link the apply the coupon (15% off, $15 max).

Suddenly, I found myself at the official Buy.com website with two items in my cart: the Xbox 360 and a coupon, which applied the $15 discount. I then confirmed my order through the Buy.com site and received an order confirmation page, leading me to PayPal (having chosen that payment method).

I was then taken to PayPal, where I paid for the item (-$15) and that completed the order. This isn't the correct way to do it because you're not supposed to leave the original web browser where your order originally was placed.

I dind't receive a message in my Ebay My Messages, because the process wasn't exactly correct, which I didn't know at the time because there is some confusion offered up, as buy.com uses a third-party checkout system outside of Ebay.

It's a little risky. It took me a long process on the phone with Ebay to get them to manually send me the email saying that I get cash back (about 50 minutes, after talking to two people). Luckily, they were both cool and helpful.

Because there's so much confusion between Buy.com having it's own checkout system, it appears I was able to talk my way through it and get the proper emails to link back to my Live.com cashback account. The girls at Ebay simply expressed apology for all the confusion and set me up.

The process is triggered in Microsoft's direction and I have the all-important emails, so that's that. But it wasn't easy and it wasn't fun.

Hope that helps!

I thought it tells you how much cash you'll be getting back? I'm on the checkout page(the one where it says "You will confirm in the next step"), and it doesn't say anywhere how much cash I'll be getting back.....

The very first page after you commit to buy shows you how much cashback you'll be getting.

Make sure you see the Microsoft cashback logo atop your Ebay page. Otherwise, don't commit to buy! Make sure the product is eligible, as well. It must be a buy it now item.

None of the codes from last night work. Wii fit and iPod are now showing only 20%. I want to buy some 3ds max and maya books, but will wait for the discount to go back up.

Good news, guys!

Search on Live.com for "kindle" and you'll receive the link to get 25% cashback.

All right, troops. Our work isn't done yet! ;)

Also, be sure to check out Live.com's stores. Some magazine subscription houses are giving 30% cashback.

And even Footlocker.com is giving 20% cashback.

Good luck!

I found that "wii fit" didn't get me the 25%, but "ipod" did. I used it to buy a XBL 12 + 1 Subscription. I'm getting $10.50 back from MSFT cashback and I got 5% off via a Buy.com coupon (cheers to Telemakhos for the inspiration). If not for the CA tax, I would have made out like a bandit (at least it was only the state tax rather than 1% higher Los Angeles tax).

$41.98 (List Price)
- $2.10 (5% Buy.com coupon)
$39.88 (subtotal)
+ $2.89 (CA tax)
-$10.50 (MSFT cashback)
$32.27 (Final Cost)

No problem, guys. When "kindle" stops working, use "phone". But let "kindle" run out first.

Btw, what is XBL 12 + 1? Is it simply XBox Live for 13 months?

Also, I pay $5.99 per month for XBox Live, but I'm not sure if it's gold. Should I cancel that and simply buy an XBL gold card?

Grrr. Seems like they must have blocked my IP address after three purchases at 25%.

The 25% links are still there, but the Microsoft cashback icon won't appear for me now.

I have DSL, so I guess I can restart the modem and get a different IP.

At least I purchased the three bigger items first.

Question: how do we know that this is limited to 12 uses? I've used it 12 times but I didn't receive any kind of notice saying that I can't use it again. Has anyone tried for a 13th time? Any luck?

Yea if you are paying 5.99 per month then you definitely have gold. You are getting ripped though at your current plan.

Get one of those 12 + 1 month cards. I think amazon and newegg has had these at $38 and you can prob get em cheaper on ebay

Can the 5% coupon still be used. Is there a code?

LOL, so I told paypal I couldn't use the 10% coupon which should have been valid, so they sent me an e-mail saying they would credit me 10%, FOR THE WRONG TRANSACTION. Now they are trying to refund me 10% of a payment I received rather than I payment I made. The payment was 137.50! I want to be honest, so I've told them of their mistake. If they don't correct it, I'll go on happily with my 13.75/41.18, or approx 33% coupon from paypal :D

What??? What coupon? I tried telling Paypal that I received a coupon last month that I was not aware of until the day before it expired (received no notification), and I didn't have time to use it. I asked if they could send me a new one since I didn't get to use the last one..and they've shot me down both through phone and email. As far as I know, there is no new December coupon right? Because I haven't found one anywhere.

I used the cyber monday coupon (cshopebay) but they wouldn't accept the darn thing. It was a 10% coupon.

So, I'm curious......How often does this Live discount promo come around, and more importantly, how often does it hit 30%?
So, I'm curious......How often does this Live discount promo come around, and more importantly, how often does it hit 30%?
This is only the second time it's come around. First time was in July. It was only 30% for a brief period both times.

I think that's almost correct, but not quite. In the summer, it was at 35% initially, and then was briefly at 30% some time in the fall (I could dig up the exact date if needed; it's when I pre-ordered GH:WT bundle for $200 and got $60 cashback), so this would be the third time...

Picked up my second DS lite this week with the cashback. Even though it was only 20% ($16.00) this time, it still looks like it will be a another nice deal....DS Lite w/ 3 Japanese version games - New Super Mario Brothers, Wario Ware Touch, and Warioland for $87.99 shipped ($71.99 after cashback). Looking forward to the end of January when my $75.XX in cashback rewards should be deposited in my PayPal account:D

Looks like you got a great deal from someone who needed the money, 107proof! Congrats.

Yeah, the codes I had are all down to 15% now, but I do have a feeling things will bump back up again.

I received a Circuit City ad this morning saying to look out for their second Black Friday coming up tomorrow.

Retailers still aren't in the black, so these specials are far from over.

I was able to use the 25% deal this morning and got five 3D modeling books for about $20 a piece. I bought five and have $41 pending. If I were to use Amazon's pricing compared to Buy.com's pricing, that's basically buying 3.5 books and getting 1.5 free + money back.

I wanted to get two more books, but no problem. I can wait till some other time.

If I discover any more codes, I'll let you guys know. :)
