I'm just curious, what is the advantage of playing a game on PS3 versus 360, despite having possibly an inferior version with no achievements, and less players online?
As far as superiority/inferiority, you said it yourself: possibly. Not all games are inferior, and not all superior. Moreover, far too much is made of some differences (e.g., 30FPS vs 60FPS in Madden 08).
Achievements? I got enough gold stars in kindergarten, thankyouverymuch. They're fine and dandy, but if they become the be-all, end-all of your gaming, then you are no longer gaming for entertainment, but compulsion.
Finally, XBL is a vastly superior interface for online gaming, but don't act as if (1) XBL is all around awesome for online games (I'll get to that in a second), or that (2) the PS3 is a wasteland with 6 people playing COD4...because it's simply not the case.
My biggest hangup with online gaming (this goes for XBL and other services) is how...err..'contemporary' everything is. You act as if there are no people playing games on PSN, and there are. They're the same kind of beasts who clutter XBL, playing only new releases and big, big, BIG classic titles. If I want to play SFII or UMK3 online on XBL, I'm pretty

ed unless I organize a game with someone offline. The same can be said of other online services, so it's not exclusive to XBL...but then, what happens is that any suggestion that XBL is the ideal and perfect gamer's paradise for online play becomes moot, doesn't it?
