Black Friday / Cyber Monday 2024

We're going out tomorrow morning (during normal daylight hours) to see about deals on pet food and boom stores, buy not really for any door busters.

I doubt there's anything of note until Monday.

I’m not doing any shopping tomorrow. The family is taking the train into NYC for a global entry interview (local airport was booked out for months). May pop into the Nintendo store.

Try price matching in person at Target. They didn't give me any flack for it at all. They even said out loud, it's showing out of stock before they said sure.
I have giftcards for Walmart and Amazon to use that's why I'm trying to get it from those two. If Walmart is a bust tomorrow I might see if Target will price match for me.

Go all the way to the end of checkout for 20% off in woot app for black friday. Might just be for prime members, not sure. Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters PS4 is also $36 as another highlight
I can't get it to show either. Went all the way to submit through confirm amazon pay but didn't click. It shows money off as a "prime discount" but its the same final amount as previous screen. Even redeemed prime trial and its charging for shipping. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks! I’ve wanted the Pixel Remasters since they released physical, and they did ring up $36 plus tax. I feel like that’s the best price we’ll see for awhile unless they hit GP or PS+.

Nice. I got Echoes of Wisdom and Mario Party Jamboree. My wife will be excited for the latter.

That's exactly what I got. I don't have prime and it wasn't offering me a trial, so I had to pay for shipping and just tried to maximize the discount on one order, and since I already had the pixel remaster on switch I got those instead. Seemed like a good deal even with shipping included

I just got a PS5...... Which membership works best? I have not had a PlayStation since PS3.

Any good deals on PlayStation Plus or whatever? I'm from Xbox so the tiers still confuse me!

I’ve only ever had basic, but the second tier provides a huge back catalog of games, similar to game pass. Premium has older PlayStation titles and some movies that I don’t know anything about. Basic gives you a few “free” games a month (as long as you’re subscribed to claim them and when you want to play them of mostly meh quality.

Do note a number of ps3 vita psp ps1 digital titles are now crossbuy with ps4/5. So you should be able to redeem some of your library for free download on psn. You just have to check each one individually to see if it has the download option available.

Wild arms 1 and 2 iirc are some of the examples.

There's basically never deals on plus anymore since Sony raised the price and added the tiers.

The only way is to make your own discount buying psn currency discounted at convenience stores pharmacy and dollar stores and such.

In store Walmart was a success grabbed SH2 no issues. 30 people waiting to get in but everyone was being good. I was in line when I saw Amazon finally decided to price match Walmart 😞

Strange, I'm a prime member and it has a free shipping option

There's a message on the promo page for 20% off on the app about prime members free shipping iirc so take a look there as that might have the solution.

I loaded my cart with a few different games and they all seem to be getting the extra discount. Tempted to get Zelda and Paper Mario Origami because I have about &20 in Amazon credit I could apply. Both for $50 sounds good.
Wish it was the FF Ps5 remaster.

I feel like I am buying more this Black Friday than I have in a decade mainly because of the tariff concerns more than the quality of the deals themselves. I guess I am stimulating the economy then indirectly because of the upcoming tariffs. Maybe this was their plan all along?

i'm getting bored hearing that over and over again but to each their own. for the past few years, inflation has wreaked havoc on everyones wallets for virtually everything - even for people to feed themselves and buy groceries.

and we've also already 'survived' one administration of orange man and that straight up did not happen like many other hyperbolic fan fictions, tariff threats are called negotiation tactics / tools for trade leverage.. I think we'll be ok in the end on being able to buy cheap consumer electronics and such as we always have.

sounds like it is time to cancel your CNN+ subscription and get back in touch with reality instead of basking in doom porn.

Silent Hill 2 available at Walmart.com. $30. Live.
Thought I'd have to make a trip to the store but glad to see it was restocked online. Added Spider-Man 2 for $30 to avoid the under $35 "minimum order fee" which I guess is something they added since the last time I shopped there.

Also bought Nioh 1+2 collection $20 and Final Fantasy 16 $25 from Best Buy. All in all a decent BF for me for games at least. Should tie me over until next BF with how little I play these days.

Think I'm done:
Pikmin 1+2 - $30 - Best Buy
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - $30 - Walmart
Zelda Echoes of Wisdom - $34 - Woot
Astro Bot - $43 - Amazon
3x $25 Xbox cards - $60 - Dollar General

Stopped by my local WM today. Other than a small carton of $30 games, the rest were in their usual areas with no signs of sales.

Cancel CNN? Sounds like you should be watching CNN or digesting any of the multiple forms of media to understand WHY people are concerned about costs rising due to tariffs.

This isn't hyperbolic, it's OBJECTIVE REALITY that tariffs will raise prices. Be it 10% or 25% or 40%, and that's not counting the inevitable gouging that will occur if any given supplier or company thinks they can get away with it. But don't take my word for it, go read up on the soybean farmers devastated from Trump's tariffs on his first term. And then there was the coalition of companies who actively campaigned to block against imposing tariffs on their products. Hope that shit happens again, they have the most money and influence to actually pull it off again.

Enjoy your Black Friday guys. Hope we aren't paying $45 for Silent Hill on sale next BF.

Ugh, global entry. We had to use a scraper site to get an appointment at local facility vs one in a completely different state. Worth the $20 though—got booked after a day of use.

That official site is impossible to use otherwise.

Just buy the American manufactured video games.

Simple as.

CNN won't teach you this weird trick!!

Stop being silly guys. It’s the season to be jolly.

Fwiw we got global entry back in 2018 (easy for us since SFO is close-ish) and saved a huge amount of time coming back from Rome through Chicao the nect year. Renewal process is much much much easier (usually no interview to renew) and again saved us a lot of time coming back this year from Paris via Dublin.

Totally worth it AFAIK.

When was Astro Bot $43 at amazon?

It's $50 at Amazon and BBY...

And 47.64 on Gamefly lol. This isn’t some super rare game.

And with Fitness Boxing 3 coming out in a week the game will probably drop in price further… and then slowly creep back up as stock depletes.

Ring Fit Adventure, Fitness Circuit and Knockout Home Fitness are better fitness games btw, unless you for some reason absolutely must have Hatsune Miku as your virtual trainer in some glorified dlc.

For those that missed astro bot, there are two options on Doordash that might be worth it to you if you have dashpass. Under Best Buy offers there's a code to get $20 off of a $60 order. Or you can get 30% off for a $40+ order. It's currently $49.99 on Bestbuy/Doordash. Ends up being slightly cheaper than Amazon/Sam's Club

as a CAG veteran of over 13 years i can safely say that this is the worst BF in recent history and a large part of that is due to the death of physical media. my best buys had 0 movies on the floor and the sections for PS and Xbox were extremely limited. there were more games behind the counter but it was just the mainstream stuff like COD and whatnot. i miss the old days on here. the shelves are depressing. no discount bins 😞. disks will become as rare as the fabled barbie horse adventures game
